Chapter 294: IF Path - Bazel: Number 29
"Hurry up, the people they sent will be here soon."
Number 29 approached Bazel and took a curious look at the little cub. Without further ado, he controlled the shuttle above his head to land in front of them.
Bazel carried Anno onto the shuttle. On the 29th, the shuttle was activated, and after flying a distance off the ground, the gravity instrument controlling Hicks and Ava was retrieved.
Anno watched as the shuttle broke through the clouds and entered outer space, remaining in a daze for a long time.
Looking out through the glass, she saw a snow-white planet. This was the planet they had just been on, not Earth at all. There was a ring of debris in its orbit, as if it had been hit by an impact.
Sure enough, she's no longer on Earth.
The shuttle number 29 docked at his spaceship, which was already in orbit.
Although the spaceship is not large, it is capable of jumps and long-distance space travel, and it has everything a spaceship should have.
After entering the spaceship, Bazel carried Anno off the shuttle and said reassuringly, "Nono, we're safe."
Anno curiously scanned his surroundings. The spaceship had a large interior space, with several shuttles, as well as aircraft and fighter jets.
Number 29 opened his arms to them and grinned, saying, "Welcome to the Deep Sea spaceship."
Bazel sincerely thanked him: "Thank you, Erjiu, for dragging you into this too."

He led the way, taking the two from the bottom cabin to the upper level and into the bridge.
As soon as Anno entered, he smelled alcohol. The driver's cab was a little messy, with bottles of alcohol scattered everywhere and a row of bottles on the control panel.
Apart from the wine bottles and some small machines that Anno couldn't understand, there was nothing else, so it was fairly clean.
On the 29th, he quickly picked up the wine bottles and some other odds and ends. "I'm usually alone, so it's a bit messy."
After tidying up a bit, an alarm sounded in the spaceship. Number 29 immediately sat back in the pilot's seat. "It seems the Federation has caught up with us."
He turned to Bazel and asked, "What are your plans? Where are you headed?"
Bazel: "Yes, but for now we need to lay low for a while and then make plans later."
Now he and #29 are on the same side. They've both been exposed to Hicks, and no one can escape. They must support and trust each other.
"You can rest assured to leave this to me. With me here, I guarantee the Federation will never find us, no matter how long they search."
On the 29th, he opened the star map, quickly tapped on it, and set several jump points. "I'll run around a bit more first, avoid the Federation's sight, and then go to where I live."
Bazel placed Anno in a seat next to him, fastened her seatbelt, took out some snacks for cubs from his backpack, and opened a small jar of milk cake and handed it to her.
Anno smelled the rich milky aroma, picked up a small piece of milk cake, put it in her mouth and tasted it, her eyes immediately lit up.
In the past, the food available to her during the apocalypse was very limited, and this jar of milk cake with only a milky aroma and a light sweetness was already a rare delicacy.

Number 29 is used to being alone. He does have some followers, but he's not a space pirate or anything like that, so he doesn't need any subordinates. However, when Bazel asked him for help, he helped without hesitation, and he wasn't afraid of the Northern River Federation.
Over the years, he hasn't made many friends. Bazel is one of his rare friends. The two have known each other since childhood in the arena and fought their way up together.
Bazel came over to help him tidy up, and they quickly cleaned up the cockpit before taking Anno to their cabin.
Number 29 opened one of the cabins and said to Bazel, "This one has never been occupied, it's a bit small, but if you don't mind, you can stay in mine."
Bazel looked around and realized it was indeed a bit small. The spaceship number 29 wasn't large, with only three living quarters, and only his own cabin was a bit bigger.
The cabins are all standardly furnished, with a bed, a wardrobe, and a walk-in closet.
The bed isn't big; it's fine for one person, but it would be too crowded if he slept with Nuonuo.
Nono is still so young and definitely needs someone to take care of her. Right now, everything should be done with her first. They and No. 29 are already bound together, so there's no need to worry about those trivial details.
Number 29 isn't the type to hold grudges; being too polite to him might offend him.
Bazel said, "Let's go see your room."
On the 29th, they were taken to their own living quarters, which were more than twice the size of the other two living quarters.
Number 29 said, "You stay in my room, I'll go stay in the guest cabin. This room is just a bit bigger, but there's nothing special about it."
As he spoke, he began tidying up their room. He was usually the only one on the spaceship, and he didn't have any special hobbies other than mechanics. The room was clean and simple, but taking care of a cub required a lot of preparation.
He rummaged through the supplies and found a new quilt and some blankets and pillows. He wanted to get her some snacks, but then he thought that she was still so young and a Fire Seed cub, so he couldn't treat her like an ordinary cub.
When he has some free time later, he'll have to find some videos and manuals on how to take care of cubs and study them carefully.
"I didn't prepare anything for the cub on this spaceship. I see you brought her a lot of food. She should be able to get through these few days?"
Bazel nodded: "We've packed enough formula for Nono for a month. Once we've escaped the Federation's sights, we'll settle down and prepare other things for her."
On the 29th, seeing the little one sitting obediently to the side, she squatted down in front of her and smiled, saying, "Hello, little one, shall we formally introduce ourselves and get to know each other?"
Anno looked at Number 29 with a bright and friendly smile. Although she had just met him and was a little wary of strange men, she knew what was good and bad. He had helped her and Bazel, so she should be polite to him.

This was actually his old number in the arena. He had no parents or relatives growing up, and no one gave him a name, so he used this number as his name. He has always been easygoing and doesn't care.

Hearing Anno's soft, stuttering voice, Number 29 smiled and turned to look at Bazel: "Didn't you teach her to speak? How come she's so old and still can't speak?"
Bazel: "She just came out of the petri dish."
Number 29 looked at Anuo with some surprise, "So you've been keeping her in a petri dish all this time?"
Barzel nodded, gesturing for number 29 to go aside and talk.

Originally, I planned to write it after Sitar foresaw Anunu's core fragment being shattered and entering a spacetime rift, but it was connected to some of the main story later on, which is the main world's plot. Foreshadowing was planted before writing the "if" scenarios. Anunu in different parallel worlds will have different storylines. What if her core hadn't been stolen? What if she had landed on Earth and could have been found earlier...? After Bazel's "if" scenarios are finished, they will continue to connect to the main world's plot.
