Chapter 200: The Torrent
Anno and Karina stayed in the dark for almost two hours before the chaotic scene in front of them gradually stabilized.
The feeling of falling stopped, and they remained suspended in place.
Anno watched as the scene before him became clearer. Above him was a bright starry sky, and all around him were minerals emitting various lights. The ground was smooth and mirror-like, and glowing plants grew out of the mirror surface. Various strange creatures moved among them.
At a glance, Anno recognized where he was; it was the Zerg's planet.
Were they teleported back to Zerg territory?
Anno wanted to move forward, but her feet were suspended in mid-air. Karina was afraid that if she let go, she would be swept away by the torrent of time and space, so she held her tightly and wouldn't let go.
Anno stretched out her hand and waved it in front of her. Her movements seemed frozen in her eyes, as if she were in water.
Gradually, she and Karina landed, but they still had an unreal feeling as if they couldn't touch the ground, because the ground didn't feel as cold and hard as the mineral ground when she was with the Zerg, but rather like stepping on soft dough.
Her gaze swept around her. This environment was familiar to her; it was the nesting ground on the main planet, a place specifically for incubating Zerg offspring. And where they were standing was the area for incubating higher-level familiars and overlords.
The energy of the ore here is the purest and most concentrated; the ore energy has been materialized, condensing into mist that floats in the air.
“Augsis, this is our Anunu.”
A familiar voice rang in Anno's ears. She paused, stepped toward the voice, and Karina took her hand and followed behind her.
After walking a short distance and rounding a huge crystal ore, Anno saw two familiar figures ahead.
Within the towering, semi-circular nest encased in transparent ore, Augsis and Seville stood before the nest, inside which lay a pure white insect egg emitting a faint glow.
Anno walked up to them and called out, "Dad, Mom."
They seemed not to hear, their eyes still fixed on the egg in front of them.
Karina said to her, "We are in a spacetime bubble. We can see the surrounding environment and things, but we cannot participate in them."
As she spoke, she tapped a few times on the offline quantum computer, and the built-in system within the quantum computer provided them with the answer.
The date displayed on the quantum computer indicated that they were on the Zerg homeworld 327 years ago.
At this time, Anno had just been born.
Anno tried to touch her parents, but her hand passed right through their bodies.
To them, the surrounding environment was like a holographic image.
They are enveloped in a time bubble, only able to see what happened in the past, but unable to participate.
This is nothing more than the memory left behind by the river of time in space and time.
But when Anno reached out and brushed her hand across Augsis and Sevier's faces, the two turned their heads at the same time, as if sensing something, and looked at her for a while.
"That's really strange."
A strange look crossed Sevier's face as she said to Augsis beside her, "I think I heard Anunu calling me."
Augustus smiled slightly: "I think I heard that too."
As they spoke, their gazes returned to the egg in front of them. Sevier gently touched the eggshell. "Anunu must be eager to come out of the egg and see her mom and dad."
"Anunu, Mommy and Daddy's precious baby, hurry up and hatch."
Looking at the scene before her, Anuo felt a surge of warmth in her heart, and a smile unconsciously appeared on her lips.
Suddenly, the surrounding scenery blurred, and when it became clear again, she and Karina were already in the royal palace.
But behind them stretched the boundless expanse of space, as if the scene had been split in two.
Inside the palace, the royal family members were all busy with solemn expressions, while Augsis sat on the throne listening to their reports on the battle situation at the front.
Anno listened for a while, then exchanged a glance with Karina.
The interstellar war broke out three hundred years ago, and it turned out that the war would last much longer than they had imagined.
Karina checked the time on her personal terminal. "It's ten years earlier than recorded. This should just be the prelude."
She paused, then continued, "In the interstellar war that broke out, the fighting had been going on intermittently for decades before it finally erupted ten years later."
A tremendous roar resounded, and Anno and Karina turned around to find the space behind them densely packed with warships.
Karina recognized this region of space as a crucial stronghold contested by various star systems, located on the edge of the Zerg star system, which is why the Zerg were also drawn into it.
Anno watched as the Zerg warships engaged in a chaotic battle with other star systems. She saw her mother leading her followers, moving through the battlefield like a god of war.
Those other star systems that attempted to occupy their Zerg territory were repeatedly defeated by the Zerg's rock-solid defense.
As stars shifted and the sun and moon alternated, time flowed swiftly around Anno and Karina, and the scenes before them constantly changed.
But it was basically Seville leading the Zerg to guard that area, and they guarded it for several years.
During that time, Seville would hurriedly squeeze in a moment to come back and see Anunu, who was still in the egg. Each time she came back, she didn't even have time to take off her armor, and her body was covered in bloodstains that were either red, green, or blue.
After watching for a short while and meeting with Augsis, he returned to the front-line base.
