Chapter 228: Repair and Restoration
Claw Star.
Night: 7:15 PM
Temperature: 16℃
[Friendly reminder: Outdoor temperatures may drop, please dress warmly]
On the vast plain, Anno sat under a tree that looked like a cotton candy, which emitted a shimmering white light that illuminated her surroundings.
Around her, some furry little animals huddled together sleeping, the surroundings were quiet, with the occasional call of an unknown animal.
She was still helping Ming Xixiu cover his spine with the whip, while also helping him stabilize his chaotic mental state so that he wouldn't have to go back to the Zerg to get beaten up and calm his mind.
The light from the spine whip has now reached one-third of its maximum intensity. Three hours have passed since she began repairing the spine whip, so it looks like it will take about six more hours.
Caesar remained kneeling in front of her, his back still straight.
After her personal computer connected to the Claws Star network, she sent a message to Karina, telling her that she was safe and asking her to reassure her mother.
She didn't want her mother to know that she had used primal energy.
Otherwise, she would be heartbroken, and Caesar would be punished even more severely.
"Your Highness."
When she heard Caesar call her, she looked up at him.
"Your Highness, let me go find you something to eat. It's already evening, you must be hungry."
Seeing that Anuo didn't speak, he immediately said, "I'm not trying to escape your punishment. I'll continue kneeling after I bring you food."
Anno subtly curved the corners of her mouth, feigning indifference as she said, "Then go."
After saying that, he added, "Remember, don't open the portal to Mother's space. That's my order."
She saw several messages pop up on Caesar's personal terminal, and without even looking, she knew they were from her mother and Tanville.
With her around, Caesar has to listen to her.
Caesar glanced at Mingxi lying on the ground and immediately understood why His Highness had forbidden him from opening the spatial portal.
Her Highness did not want the Queen to know that she used her primal energy for Mingxi.
My heart ached again.
Fortunately, His Highness has erased his memories of his clone, so he will not remember the two days he spent with His Highness.
Caesar returned quickly with food, a small folding table, and a fur cloak.
He unfolded the cloak and draped it over Anno, then took the food out of the lunchbox and placed it on the small table.
After doing all this, he got up and prepared to go back to kneel.
“Come here,” Anno called to him.
Caesar immediately returned to her and looked at her expectantly.
Anno patted the seat behind him. "I'm getting a little tired of sitting. Let me lean on you."
Without saying a word, Caesar sat down behind Anno with his back to her, acting as her backrest.
Anuo leaned back and began to eat, holding her bowl.
After a long pause, Caesar spoke up: "Your Highness, do I have to go back and kneel later?"
Anuo had almost finished eating, put down her bowl, and said, "What do you think?"
Caesar paused, then said, "I'll go back and kneel down right now."
As he spoke, he prepared to get up.
Anno shifted against his back, adjusting to a comfortable position. "Silly bug."
The moment she moved, Caesar froze, ceasing all movement.
"I'm a little sleepy, turn over."
After Anno finished speaking, Caesar immediately turned to his side, and she lay down on his lap, wrapped her cloak around herself, closed her eyes, and began to sleep.
The depletion of her original energy made her feel sleepy, and her body reminded her to sleep to recover.
She closed her eyes and reminded Caesar, "Keep an eye on him. I've suppressed his consciousness. He won't wake up during the time I'm repairing the spinal whip."
Caesar had been forced to kneel for three hours as punishment, and his mind had cleared up. He was now behaving himself. "Understood, Your Highness. Rest assured, I will keep a close eye on him."
Anno gave a soft "hmm," her voice tinged with sleepiness.
Before long, Caesar heard her even breathing; she had fallen into a deep sleep.
He stared at Anuo's face for a long time, then carefully reached out and gently touched her cheek.
He touched it lightly, like a dragonfly skimming the water, and quickly withdrew his hand, as if afraid of being discovered.
Caesar shifted his gaze to Mingxi's face, looking at him in this time and space, his eyes gradually darkening.
He hadn't expected that His Highness would like his clone so much.
Even just a clone of him has already transcended feelings for him.
He was wondering whether clones should exist.
His Highness prefers the clone, not him.
Perhaps, once he gets back, he'll deal with all of these clones.
Without his clone, His Highness treated him no differently than he treated his other family members.
Caesar, who had always been confident in front of Anuo, found his confidence crumbling after seeing her interactions with her clone, Mingxi.
He could feel the same emotions from Caesar in this time and space.
They all share the same selfish desire, and only by using a clone can they fulfill that tiny selfish desire in their hearts.
All he wanted was to be with His Highness, just the two of them.
Even if it's just for a brief moment, like right now.
He didn't know when he developed such selfish thoughts. Perhaps it was during this period with Mingxi that he created too many clones. His spirit was repeatedly collapsing. In one dream after another, he was determined and fantasizing that he could find His Highness, be able to bow down to her, and receive her spiritual comfort.
After finding her, he wanted more.
This is not something he should covet; he has no right to ask anything of his king.
He tried to suppress it, but he couldn't control himself.
He could only humbly hope in his heart that His Highness would glance at him more and bestow upon him more rewards.
When Anuo woke up, it was already morning. Mingxi's spinal whip had been completely repaired, the spinal lines had lit up again, and the energy had stabilized.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Caesar looking down at her. "Your Highness."
She noticed that his eyes looked a little red. According to the Zerg's constitution, not sleeping for one night shouldn't have much of an impact, so he didn't seem to be in good condition.
It looks like they've been staying up for several nights.
She sat up, cupped his face in her hands, looked him over, and said seriously, "Tell me the truth, how many days have you not slept?"
Caesar couldn't lie to Anno, so he said, "Your Highness, I haven't slept for four days."
Since Mingxi took her away, he hasn't slept a wink, his mind filled with thoughts of her.
Anno pinched his cheek. "If you don't rest properly, how can you have the energy to serve me?"
Upon hearing this, Caesar immediately knelt down on one knee before her. "Your Highness, I can do it! I'm in good condition. I just haven't slept for four days, but that won't affect me."
Anuo said helplessly, "I just wanted you to pay attention to rest. From now on, you must be in good condition in front of me. If you are like this again, I won't want you to follow me anymore."
These words were too damaging to Caesar, and he quickly replied, "Yes, Your Highness."
Then, he put on a pitiful puppy-like expression and said, "Your Highness, I just can't sleep because I miss you so much."
Anno patted the head of the aggrieved puppy: "If you miss me, then you should get some sleep."
After saying that, she turned her gaze to Mingxi.
His back whip has been repaired, and his memory has been erased by her. He will wake up soon.
She turned him over so that he lay flat on the ground.
After looking at him for a while, she stood up and turned to look at Caesar.
Caesar was still kneeling before her, seemingly still thinking about yesterday's punishment.
Anno patted his head and said, "Okay, get up now, let's go home."
She added, "I'll punish you when we get back."
"Yes!" Caesar stood up and glanced at Mingxi.
The morning dew was heavy. Anno pulled her cloak tighter around herself, picked up a small fur ball at her feet, and stroked it as she spoke to Caesar, "When you were in the past, were you also like him, suffering such serious injuries while searching for me?"
Caesar nodded: "His trajectory is similar to mine."
Anno gently placed the ball of fur back on the ground. "He did it for Anunu in this timeline, and you did it for me."
Anuo took his hand, her eyes filled with a gentle smile, "I know everything."
"You are my Caesar."
Mingxi's experiences over the past two days were simply telling her what Caesar was like in the past.
Mingxi met her earlier, but Caesar did not.
Upon hearing Anno's words, Caesar's heart pounded in his chest. At that moment, all his so-called selfish desires, his wish to gain a reward from His Highness, vanished.
All I could see was her gentle smile.
Her Highness knows all of this; she has always been very clear about the distinctions.
With a prince like him, what more could he ask for? What selfish desires could he possibly have?
Damn it, he really deserves to die.
Anno squeezed his hand. "Let's go home. Mother must be getting impatient."
Caesar's voice was slightly hoarse: "Okay."
