The supermarket in front of me was like a mirage, ethereal and seemingly about to disappear at any moment.
"Wait... is it going to disappear?!"
Qin San Niang slapped her thigh, "This won't do!"
The thought of the supermarket's supplies disappearing without a trace would break her heart! She instantly lost all sleepiness. She decided to act tonight, to rummage through everything inside, even if it meant exhausting herself, she wouldn't let the system profit from her!
Outside, Liu and the children were fast asleep and shouldn't wake up anytime soon. She could just stay alert inside and come out as soon as she heard a sound. At worst, she could pretend to go to the toilet; Liu wouldn't suspect anything.
Although the supermarket wasn't very big, handling all that stuff could really wear her out! While she could move items with her mind, it was too mentally taxing.
It might even cause a headache. Oh well! I'll just stick to physical exertion. Consider it exercise.
After looking around, I finally found a small cart in a corner to use as a means of transport. In addition, I found some discarded cardboard boxes that I could use for packing.
After weighing the options, Qin San Niang quickly planned the order of the transfers. Items like toilet paper, facial tissues, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and sanitary napkins were all convenient modern necessities but not available in this era.
The thought that women nowadays use menstrual belts filled with wood ash, and that they have to secretly dry them under the moonlight after use because women's blood is considered unlucky, was truly unacceptable to her! However, on this escape route, Qin San Niang couldn't bring herself to hang the menstrual belts outside the cart to dry. Her mother, Liu Shi, had already gone through menopause. As for Wu Chunhua and Pang Ya, they said they hadn't had their period for several months, presumably due to their weakened bodies.
Stock up! In the end, we filled ten large boxes just with sanitary napkins. Considering there are still so many years to come, we know she'll need to use them sparingly!
Then came over twenty large boxes of toilet paper, tissues, and wet wipes. And across the way, I saw a lot of baby diapers and adult diapers. Hmm? I need to stock up too. Even though she doesn't need to raise a baby anymore, her child will have babies in the future! Isn't everyone getting married young these days? The thought of becoming a grandmother at such a young age made three black lines appear on my forehead!
Forget it, I'll just stock up first. Even if my kids don't need it in the future, she can still use it as sanitary napkins. That's better than those wood ash, right?
Besides these, there was a whole shelf of toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, soap, laundry detergent, and all of them were collected into boxes. Various cosmetics, including Yunnan Baiyao, mosquito repellent, hand warmers, and pain relief ointments from the medicine shelf, were also collected. These were more than a dozen boxes, and they were quite heavy.
Don't forget the twenty-odd mirrors; they're family heirlooms! If you need money urgently, you can sell another one for a few hundred taels. Carefully wrap them in towels and bath towels to prevent breakage. And don't forget all the everyday pots, pans, and utensils—those are absolutely essential too.
There were also various tonics on the counter, such as rock tripe, bird's nest, sea cucumber, abalone, and donkey-hide gelatin, which were rare nourishing products in this era, so naturally they had to be bought all at once!
The shelves opposite were stocked with socks, underwear, slippers, blankets, and more—all sizes and colors—how could they be missing out? And so, another whirlwind of activity ensued!
After packing a batch, they pushed carts to transport them out. Fortunately, the doors were close together, and they were quickly moved to the courtyard of the space and piled up.
The four-wheeled cart was easy to use. The packed supplies were placed in the yard for now, and they could be packed up again later. After all, they weren't food and didn't need to be kept fresh. She wasn't sure if the yard had any preservation facilities!
Qin San Niang subconsciously believed that this was her newly formed storage space, and that anything that entered this courtyard would be relatively safe.
As for that supermarket? After all, she had followed it there before she died, and she didn't know how long it would last, plus the items inside were non-renewable. She worried that the supermarket might suddenly disappear one day, so it was better to be prepared and bring the goods over first.
She had calculated carefully that the house had five rooms, which was enough to store the supermarket's supplies. If necessary, the front and back yards could also be used. There was no risk of rain or snow disasters here, so it was the safest place possible!
Is that all? Of course not, the real challenge is yet to come.
After a short rest, Qin San Niang sprinted back to the supermarket. She wondered if it was just her imagination, but from the outside, the supermarket looked even lighter in color.
Time is running out!
She quickly collected all the clothes, then ransacked the fruit section—there was quite a lot of fruit there too—and put it all in airtight containers to store in the main house, where it would stay fresh. Next came various snacks, pastries, rice, flour, cooking oil, candy, nuts… After packing everything up, there were over twenty large boxes. By the time she finished, Qin San Niang felt like her legs were about to give out.
But we can't stop yet!!
And the weapons in the basement! She planned to move them with her mind, so as to avoid mistakes and ensure nothing was missed. With so few treasures left, she absolutely couldn't afford to forget anything!
Qin Sanniang sat on a stool in the supermarket and began to move the items in the underground secret room with her mind: all the guns and ammunition, bulletproof vests, tear gas, her usual crossbow, the knives, daggers and other cold weapons she had picked up earlier, as well as some ropes, javelins and other concealed weapons, and several books on combat techniques...
Even after doing all that, I was still not at ease, so I had to personally search the darkroom again to make sure that nothing was missed in any corner.
Mentioning books, Qin Sanniang slapped her forehead. There were still a bunch of them in the supermarket's book corner! Books are wonderful things; there's a wealth of knowledge and beauty in books—the ancients were right!
Some of these are about farmland irrigation, some about strange tales, some about geography and weather, some about handicrafts, some about food preparation, and some even about Qimen Dunjia (a form of divination) and mechanical arts...
Is this just a simple book? No, this is spiritual nourishment!! It's the foundation of her wealth and success!
They took them all—five or six big boxes in total!
Apart from the items and books in the underground secret room, which Qin San Niang locked in the room on the east side, which would later become her master bedroom, all other supplies were piled up haphazardly in the front yard.
Before dawn, Qin San Niang went to the supermarket again for a final sweep. This time, she used her mind to drag away everything she might need in the future, even things like strollers and cribs. She also didn't leave out other potentially useful equipment like shelves, refrigerators, ovens, and air conditioners. Although her space didn't have electricity yet, what if it was upgraded later? Besides, this was the only evidence connecting her to her past life; she was afraid that if too much time passed, she would forget what an air conditioner looked like!
She moved all the live fish and shrimp, along with their tanks, to the backyard, replacing the water with well water from her own space, hoping they would live longer. If more fish and shrimp appeared, she could release them back in; perhaps she could even dig a pond in the backyard.
Thinking about it this way, the house on this half-acre plot doesn't seem that big at all!
However, now that she knows how to upgrade the space, Qin San Niang is not worried about expanding the area at all!
The box of treasures that had been brought in earlier, including all the jade pieces, was gone. She carefully placed the remaining gold and silver jewelry, along with the several hundred taels of silver from before, into the safe in the master bedroom.
