Chapter 10 Staying at a Temple, a Shocking Discovery

Upon hearing this, Xiao Muyue obediently drank the milk, thinking to herself, "Yueyue won't laugh at her brother..." and then fell into a deep sleep.

Seeing this, Qin Qing covered her with the blanket, got up and went out, only to find that there was no one in the next room.

Where did they go? Knowing Zhang He's personality, they definitely wouldn't leave me behind to find something to eat!

Just as she was filled with doubt, a figure silently approached her.

"Is the female benefactor looking for a companion?"

Qin Qing was startled and turned around abruptly to back away. Only then did she see the face of the person who had come in. It was the old monk from earlier that day.

Under the moonlight, whether it was an illusion or not, the old face lacked the compassion of the daytime, instead revealing a pale and sinister look, and the gaze also seemed very strange.

Seeing that she didn't speak, the old monk spoke again!

"You're looking for Cai Rili's companions, aren't you? They're having their meal in the dining hall. When they called you earlier, you were sound asleep, so they didn't disturb you."

There seemed to be nothing wrong with what she said, and she nodded, thinking that she must have been overthinking it.

"Thank you, Master. May I ask where the dining hall is?"

The old monk smiled, looking even more peculiar.

"Just walk over here and turn the corner, and you'll see the dining hall."

Qin Qing thanked him and turned to leave. But she still didn't hear the old monk leave. Her intuition told her that the old monk was standing still, his gaze fixed intently on her!

The strange feeling made her nervous. Suddenly, she turned around sharply and saw that the old monk was still standing in the same place, but his back was to her, so she couldn't see the expression on his face.

She panicked because the old monk's eyes were fixed on the room where Xiao Muyue was. A bad feeling crept into her heart. Seeing that the old monk was about to turn around, she turned back and walked towards the dining hall. She couldn't help but praise herself for her quick thinking, because she had just locked the door from the inside!

Although there was no lock, she used a special method to reverse the latch, making it impossible to open for a while!

Even in the darkness, I could feel the gaze following me intently…

In the pitch-black night, there was no sign of anyone or any light in the temple. After walking for a while, she finally saw a faint light. On the wall at the entrance hung two large characters: "Dining Hall".

She stood at the door and looked inside. She saw Zhang He, Mu Yang, Mu Xing, and Bai Lianhua sitting in chairs talking. There was no food on the table except for a teapot, so they obviously hadn't started eating dinner yet.

She felt a strange sense of relief and went inside. She happened to run into the little monk who had been standing at the door during the day. He seemed a little uneasy now, his lips were pale, and his hands holding the plate were trembling slightly.

Upon seeing Qin Qing, he paused for a moment, instinctively opening his mouth as if to say something, when a burly monk walked in, startling the young monk so much that he almost dropped his cup.

"Master, senior brother!"

The burly monk nodded, frowned slightly when he looked at Qin Qing, but his eyes lit up when he saw Mu Yang and Mu Xing. He then gave Zhang He a meaningful look and smiled.

These expressions flashed by quickly before returning to normal. Almost no one present noticed, except for Qin Qing, who was closest and saw it most clearly. The TV series "Young Justice Bao" that she had watched before came to mind.

One of the plot points takes place in a temple. The word "cannibalism" flashed through her mind in an instant, startling her so much that her expression turned horrified. Worried that they might notice something, Qin Qing quickly lowered her head.

"Amitabha! Madam, although these are just some ordinary wild vegetables, my cooking skills are quite good. Please have a meal!"

Upon hearing this, she smiled and said "Thank you" before walking over.

After putting down the dishes, the young monk turned and left in a hurry, looking very nervous. The burly monk glanced at them twice and then walked away as well. Qin Qing finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing that Bai Lianhua had already started eating, she quietly tugged at Zhang He and whispered.

"Daughter-in-law, don't eat this. Something's not right here."

Zhang He was stunned for a moment, somewhat confused, but still stopped because of her trust in her. Upon hearing this, Xiao Muyang immediately grabbed Mu Xing's hand.

"Look at you, you can't even hold chopsticks properly, let your brother feed you!"

"Lotus, don't eat yet, Grandma hasn't touched it!"

Bai Lianhua was starving and didn't hear them at all. She kept stuffing wild vegetables into her mouth. These weren't theirs, so why should she wait?

And I must say, these wild vegetables are really delicious!

Qin Qing glanced at her but didn't say anything. She simply poured the white porridge into her spatial storage without making a sound. Then she picked up Zhang He and the others' porridge and poured it into her spatial storage as well. Xiao Muxing watched as her porridge disappeared in an instant. She blinked and was about to ask a question when Mu Yang pulled her back, signaling her not to speak.

So the little girl obediently sat down without saying a word.

Qin Qing stared intently at Bai Lianhua. After a long while, she saw Bai Lianhua suddenly plunge her head into the bowl, losing all consciousness.

As if she had thought of something, she quickly signaled the others to pretend to faint. Mu Yang and Mu Xing were both very clever and immediately pretended to faint. Zhang He looked at Bai Lianhua with a shocked expression, and was pulled by Qin Qing before also pretending to faint.

The room fell silent instantly; the enormous dining hall suddenly looked incredibly eerie…

At this moment, the burly monk strolled in leisurely, his expression a mixture of surprise and madness. He expertly grabbed Qin Qing and dragged her away, cursing under his breath.

"Let's throw the old ones away as fertilizer, and boil or roast the young ones? The boy looks about seven or eight years old, he definitely won't taste good roasted, hehe, let's just roast two and boil one, the best of both worlds!"

Listening to the burly monk's mutterings, Qin Qing felt his hair stand on end and nearly had a mental breakdown. He was so frightened that he almost shook off the monk's hand. Cannibalism? This monk can eat people?

Thinking back on everything that had happened during the day, she suddenly realized, and her heart raced! The little monk had told them to leave because of this, and the old monk had gone to find her because of... Mu Yue?

Thinking of this, she panicked a little. What if the old monk forced his way in? Mu Yue was still sick!

The impending crisis made her instinctively bite her lip hard; the pain and the taste of rust forced her to calm down…

Until she was dragged into a place that resembled a cellar, the burly monk threw her hard on the ground, complaining as he did so!

"An old woman who's this heavy? She's obviously no good!"

As he spoke, he kicked her, causing her so much pain that she almost opened her eyes and cursed. Fortunately, the burly monk was busy dragging the rest of the people in and didn't have time to pay attention to her.

The footsteps faded into the distance, and the surroundings became extremely quiet. A faint smell of blood filled her nostrils. She composed herself, slowly opened her eyes, and instantly turned pale. Her stomach churned violently, but fortunately, she hadn't eaten anything. After gagging twice, she tried to survey her surroundings.

For the first time, someone laid bare the true face of the famine before her eyes; the bloody truth was so stark that even a doctor who had witnessed countless tragedies could not remain calm.
