Chapter 30: Nurmengard

It was not until a long time later that Dumbledore seemed to have made up his mind. He stood up and walked to the other side of the headmaster's office.

Here, Fawkes, Dumbledore's unique phoenix, was taking a nap. Sensing Dumbledore's arrival, Fawkes opened his eyes and gently snuggled up to Dumbledore.

"Fox, thank you for your hard work!"

Dumbledore stroked Fawkes with his hand and spoke slowly.

Immediately, Fawkes let out a loud phoenix cry, and with a "bang", the figures of the man and the bird disappeared in the headmaster's office of Hogwarts.

In the middle of Europe, in a snowy and uninhabited place, there stands a tall tower. In the deserted snow, the figures of Dumbledore and Fawkes suddenly appeared here.

Dumbledore stood in front of the tower, looking at the top of the tower entrance, where the following words were engraved: For the greater good. After a moment's silence, Dumbledore walked into the tower called Nurmengard alone.

Dumbledore climbed the stairs alone and came to the top of Nurmengard. In an empty room, an old man with a wrinkled face and ragged clothes was sitting alone in the room quietly.

Looking at the old man in front of them, if they walked out of this tower, few people would be able to connect him with Gellert Grindelwald, the first generation Dark Lord who swept across Europe and America decades ago and made the Ministries of Magic of many countries tremble in fear.

Dumbledore looked at the man in front of him, the man with whom he had been entangled for most of his life, and saw that he had become like this. For a moment, he found it difficult to speak.

"Albus, you haven't been here for a long time. What's wrong? You came here but didn't say anything. Did you just come to see if I'm still here or if I'm dead or not?"

Gellert Grindelwald sat upright on the ground and spoke without turning his head.

Dumbledore walked into the empty room and lit a fire.

"Albus, it seems that you are used to a life of luxury. Can't you accept this little bit of cold? It's really worrying that the wizarding world is in the hands of people like you."

Dumbledore did not show any anger at Grindelwald's ridicule, but responded like an old friend who had not seen each other for many years:

"I was afraid that your eyesight might be blurry and you couldn't see the words on the letter clearly!"

Then, Dumbledore took out the letter sent to him by Newt Scamander from his arms and handed it to Grindelwald.

Grindelwald took the letter with a puzzled look on his face and began to read it.

Just after reading the beginning, Grindelwald couldn't help but sneer: "It seems that this is a letter written to you by the kid who carries a zoo with him all day. I didn't expect that after so many years, you are still in touch!"

But as Grindelwald continued to read the contents of the letter, his expression gradually became ugly, and finally he threw the letter back to Dumbledore.

Grindelwald finally stood up and looked directly into Dumbledore's eyes. Those eyes, which were completely different from his appearance, were so captivating that they still looked deep and bright in the dim Nurmengard Tower.

"So, you came here to see if I had violated our agreement and walked out of Nurmengard as requested by that boy? Dumbledore, it seems that after a long time, you have forgotten who I am!"

"Staying in Nurmengard is my own choice! Dumbledore, don't forget that it wasn't you who won that year, it was just that I, Grindelwald, didn't want to play anymore!"

"Gellert, I never doubted you. I knew you would not break the agreement between us. There is another reason for this situation. Moreover, I know what the real reason is."

After hearing Dumbledore's answer, Grindelwald's expression gradually improved, but he immediately asked in confusion:

"It seems that something unexpected happened in the outside world?"

Dumbledore nodded slowly and said, "This year, among the new students enrolled at Hogwarts, there is a young man named Wentworth Grindelwald!"

"This is impossible!"

Gellert exclaimed, and said, "You know, just like the blood of your Dumbledore family is born to get the help of the phoenix, the blood of our Grindelwald family is born to be a prophet. According to my previous prophecy, there should be no wizards in the Grindelwald family after me!"

Dumbledore said noncommittally: "His magical talent did appear a little abruptly, but he does have magical talent, there is no doubt about that."

"Right after he entered school, traces of Witch Party activities appeared all over the world. Even in my Hogwarts, there were wizards who looked like Witch Party members."

Suddenly, Gellert interrupted Dumbledore's story and asked with a frown, "Dumbledore, are you sure that the child has the blood of the Grindelwald family?"

Dumbledore nodded decisively and said, "Of course, Gellert, I know what you are worried about. You are afraid that someone will pretend to be the heir of the Grindelwald family and deceive your subordinates, and use their loyalty to you to achieve some ulterior motives."

Gellert nodded and said slowly:

"Since you know this, you must have verified it."

Dumbledore said as a matter of course: "Of course, the Pen of Acceptance and the Book of Admission cannot be wrong. Besides, that boy looks almost like you when you were young!"

"Before the school officially started, he had already made the entire group of freshmen remember his name. On the first day of school, the entire Hufflepuff house regarded him as a lucky star. On the second day of school, he demonstrated a special way of processing medicinal materials that even my Potions teacher was amazed."

"Gellert, he is the blood of the Grindelwald family, there is no doubt about that! Moreover, even my newly recruited Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is suspected to be your believer, who came to Hogwarts to protect him secretly. You should understand your believers, they are not so easy to deceive!"

Gellert listened to Dumbledore's explanation, nodded slowly, and was silent for a long time before he sighed and said:

"It's fine. Everything is fine. Oh, by the way, my brother should be gone. So, what about Wentworth's parents? If possible, let them leave Europe and go to Asia or Africa."

"I used to think that after me, the Grindelwald family had no connection with the wizarding world. But now that Wentworth has returned to the wizarding world, my old rivals will surely get wind of it. His parents are ordinary people, so it's better to send them away first."

Dumbledore was silent for a moment before he slowly said, "According to the new student enrollment information, Wentworth is an orphan. His parents died in a car accident a long time ago..."
