Chapter 308: Cassandra is Petrified

Ron stopped panting and answered:

"I heard from Ginny that you ran out in a panic. I was a little worried about you, so I came out to see what happened. What's wrong?"

Hermione didn't think much about it, shook her head, and answered:

"It's okay. I suddenly remembered a spell, so I found a secluded place to test it. It's hard for you to find me so quickly."

Hearing Hermione's words, Ron's face looked a little unnatural, and he said casually:

"Well, I'm glad you're okay. Let's go back first!"

Hermione ultimately did not tell anyone about the Secret Party. Not to mention that the Secret Party did not have any ill will towards her or Hogwarts at the moment. Moreover, Hermione knew very well that the friends around her were not worth mentioning in front of the Secret Party members. If she told anyone about it, it might bring danger to them.

While they were deep in thought, suddenly, a terrified scream was heard, which made Hermione and Ron stop in their tracks.

Hermione and Ron looked at each other, and the next second, Hermione ran towards the direction where the scream came from, while Ron was slightly stunned, then followed Hermione and ran towards the direction where the sound came from.

When Hermione followed the scream and came to a toilet not far away, she saw a Gryffindor student collapsed at the door of the toilet.

Seeing Hermione and Ron rushing over, the Gryffindor girl pointed forward with horror. Hermione looked in the direction of her finger and saw Cassandra lying stiffly on the ground, unable to move.

Seeing this scene, Hermione said in her heart: "Oh no!"

At this moment, Hermione, who knew Wentworth's identity, even thought that the consequences of Wentworth's anger would have to be borne by the entire Hogwarts.

When Wentworth got the news, he came here surrounded by Green and Cedric. After seeing Cassandra's appearance, Wentworth punched the wall of the bathroom.

Seeing this, Green and Cedric hurriedly stopped Wentworth.

Then, Wentworth turned to look at the Gryffindor girl who first discovered Cassandra, and was about to step forward to ask her, but was stopped by Hermione.

Seeing that the gloominess on Wentworth's face had deepened, Hermione quickly spoke up, "Wentworth, calm down. Listen to me. I was the first one to rush to the scene after hearing her scream. I just asked her. She just wanted to go to the bathroom to tidy up her clothes, but as soon as she entered the room, she saw Cassandra lying on the ground. She didn't do this!"

Wentworth said impatiently: "Of course I know it wasn't her who did it, I just want to ask her a question!"

After hearing what Wentworth said, Hermione slowly moved away.

Wentworth stepped forward and asked:

"Did you spot anyone else on your way here?"

The Gryffindor girl, with the comfort of her classmates, had gradually recovered. When she heard Wentworth's question, she recalled for a moment and finally shook her head slowly.

Seeing this, Wentworth took a deep breath, suppressed his anger, tried to calm himself down, and then said:

"Think about it carefully again."

The Gryffindor girl recalled again and said:

"I... I was in a hurry to find a bathroom, but the places I usually go to are a bit far away, so I looked in this direction. Along the way, I didn't see anyone special. As soon as I entered the door, I saw Cassandra fell to the ground. I couldn't help but screamed. Soon, Hermione and Ron ran over. Then everyone came."

Hearing the girl's words, Wentworth nodded, then gave Green a gentle look, and Green quietly turned and left.

"Can you two explain why you are here?"

Hearing Wentworth's question, Hermione was about to speak, but suddenly she realized that if she didn't tell him what happened before, it would be really difficult for her to explain why she was here.

Looking at Wentworth's aggressive gaze, Hermione could only say weakly: "Wentworth, I did have my reasons for coming here, but I couldn't have done this! You...you must believe me!"

Originally, Hermione herself felt that her defense was somewhat weak, but Wentworth nodded and said:

"I believe this wasn't you!"

Hearing that Wentworth really believed what she said, Hermione was stunned, and then she was moved.

However, Hermione was not moved for long before she heard Wentworth continue:

"Because Salazar Slytherin would never choose you as his heir, and you can't use the backup he left behind."

Hermione: “…”

Anyway, seeing that Wentworth did not doubt her, Hermione finally breathed a sigh of relief in her heart.

But the next second, Wentworth asked Ron beside him:

"Ron, so, what about you? Why are you here?"

Hearing Wentworth's question, Ron quickly explained: "I'm here to see Hermione!"

Seeing that Wentworth was still looking at him suspiciously, Ron was also startled and said:

"I heard from my sister Ginny that Hermione ran out in a panic. I was afraid that something might happen to her, so I hurriedly chased after her. When I found Hermione and we were about to walk back together, I heard a scream. We followed the scream and came here."

After hearing Ron's explanation, Wentworth nodded in understanding.

Wentworth knew that Cassandra was going to use the Polyjuice Potion to disguise herself as Hermione to find Ginny. Combining what Hermione and Ron said, Wentworth had roughly figured out why the two were here.

Presumably Cassandra disguised herself as Hermione, but was discovered by the real Hermione, so Hermione chased her out. Ginny told Ron about this, and Ron also chased her out.

However, Wentworth always felt that something was wrong.

At this moment, the Hogwarts students who were surrounding in the distance moved to one side and made way for a passage. Then, Dumbledore, Professor Snape and others came over.

Seeing the scene before him, Dumbledore evacuated the students as usual and asked someone to send Cassandra to the infirmary.

As the students of Hogwarts gradually dispersed, Dumbledore looked at Wentworth who remained there and did not leave. He could not help but sighed and said:

"If you have anything to say, come to my office and talk!"
