Chapter 19 The Player's Weaknesses

Chapter 19 The Player's Weaknesses

There is less than a month left until hurricane season.

Violet spent two weeks clearing out all the berry bushes and snake vines in the forest that would spawn snakes at night, and transplanting them to a location on the edge where they wouldn't be submerged by the rising tide.

Then he cleared away some rocks and debris near his house and used the limestone extracted from the collected coral to build a windproof stove, an essential item for hurricane season, on the clean ground.

Unfortunately, there isn't enough time. Even if the meat drying rack is built now, there won't be enough time for Violet to dry the meat and seaweed in her backpack into dried meat and seaweed that can be preserved for a longer period of time.

Compared to the initial [Mild Season], the [Hurricane Season], the first death challenge players will face, presents much harsher weather conditions. Frequent rainfall during this season causes players to accumulate dampness, eventually leading to a drop in sanity and making it difficult to handle most tools.

Along with the rain comes strong winds, lightning, and hail. The strong winds will blow away everything on land except for buildings constructed by the player, and create huge waves in the ocean. Unless a more advanced and sturdy ship is built, choosing to cross the sea on a bamboo raft during this season will undoubtedly be a suicidal act.

Lightning will strike the player, deducting a large amount of health and even causing localized fires, while hail will drop a large amount of ice shards, rapidly lowering the player's body temperature.

Fortunately, as a survival farming game enthusiast, Violet has plenty of experience.

Violet chose a building method that forum players call the "nine-square grid" building pattern, using a pitchfork to remove a piece of land every other square to create a 3x3 building space.

The central plot of land is for placing a [Snowball Launcher] for fire extinguishing, but Violet is still missing two gears to unlock this essential [Dry Season] item, so she can only leave the bare plot of land for now.

All plots of land within the nine-square grid will be protected by the [Snowball Launcher] in the future, avoiding the effects of lightning strikes or spontaneous combustion.

The [Snowball Launcher] has a wooden crate containing various supplies and valuable materials collected by Violet on the left, and a [Cooking Pot] and a [Refrigerator] on the right.

The lightning rod is placed at the top, with the left and right sides reserved for technology-side and magic-side buildings, respectively.

The [windproof stove] that provides fire and lighting is placed in the middle of the bottom, while the two squares on the left and right are bare, highlighting the player's impoverished state of struggling to make ends meet.

She opened the chest and took stock of her wealth.

[Wooden Crate (9 slots)]

[Items: 40 cut grass, 40 branches, 35 stones, 20 wood, 8 gold nuggets, 1 hound's tooth, 1 eye gun, 4 spider silk]

In the remaining two weeks, Violet planned to try her luck at sea, partly to replenish her materials, and partly to see if she could find any [abandoned warships] wandering the seas and obtain [gears], an important material for crafting [refrigerators], by defeating them.

In this way, she can store the ice chips that fall during hailstorms in the refrigerator indefinitely and take them out as cooling food in the summer.

In addition, Violet also needs charcoal. These small, black things not only burn longer and provide more heat, but are also an essential ingredient for making high-end dishes [cooking pots].

You're really busy.

Violet hops onto a raft and leaves [R'lyeh]. Meanwhile, Marco, realizing Violet wasn't joking, takes Sachi and Izo back to the Sabaody Archipelago to try and find the "magical doctor girl."

Two weeks later, Marco and his companions were bewildered by the increasingly outlandish ghost stories circulating in Sabaody Archipelago, while Violet returned to R'lyeh, built and filled a new wooden crate, and placed her long-desired cooking pot and refrigerator in the places she had prepared beforehand.

[Hurricane Season] is not a good season for exploring the map, so Violet plans to use this time to develop her island and unlock more recipes and dishes.

Oh, and there's the material needed to make [Abigail's Flower]. According to the clue Shanks gave her, she needs to find the undead on a high-risk map called [Tales of Treasures]. And the ruler of [Tales of Treasures], Big Mom, loves all kinds of desserts and dishes.

In the game [Shipwrecked Survival], there are a total of 81 dishes for players to unlock, many of which can be considered desserts.

Violet didn't think any NPC could resist the player's various magical dishes.

Violet added charcoal to the windproof stove, lay down on the dry, fluffy straw bed, and slowly closed her eyes.

Luo, who was curled up in the cold, dirty garbage heap, suddenly opened his eyes.

In the dim light, a fleeting look of bewilderment from just waking up flashed across Luo's eyes, quickly followed by a calmness beyond his years.

He just had a dream.

After witnessing the tragic deaths of his family and friends from lead poisoning and their escape from the white town of Flevans, Law was plagued by nightmares. During that time when he wanted to use the rest of his life to bring the greatest malice to the world, he would sit in the desolate and lifeless Flevans in his dreams, swearing to the pale corpses standing beside him that he would kill as many people as possible.

The symptoms only improved after Mr. Corazon, a naval spy infiltrating the Don Quixote family, discovered the hidden "D" in his name and took him to find a cure for lead poisoning.

Thinking of Corazon, who was ultimately killed by Doflamingo because of his exposed identity, Law gripped his arm tightly, determined to fight with all his might to prevent himself from being consumed by rage.

Why is it always like this? Why is he always the one who gets abandoned?! Parents, Mr. Corazon, why do they always leave him alone in this disgusting world?

Mr. Corazon forcibly stuffed the Ope Ope no Mi (Operation Fruit) into his mouth, saving his life. However, without anyone to guide him, it was difficult for Law to completely cleanse all the lead and platinum accumulated in his body in one go. Large patches of abnormal white skin, excessively high body temperature, and pain between his bones and internal organs all reminded Law that he was now a ghost who had survived from hell.

Mr. Corazon paved an escape route for him that never existed with his own life.

Luo raised his hand to press his throbbing temples, trying to recall the blurry images from his dream. After a few minutes, he finally looked up in a daze.

"...R'lyeh?"

That wondrous little island from his dreams was calling to him.

Luo gritted his teeth, his already fierce eyes becoming even more terrifying. He slammed his thin arm against the trash can beside him with a loud bang, startling several scavenging birds into flight.

"I won't be bewitched by you!"

He wants to become stronger, survive, and avenge Mr. Corazon, instead of acting like a childish brat searching for some island that only exists in dreams!

no way!

——

Man proposes, God disposes.

With her arms wrapped around her knees and the ends of her tied-up black hair blowing straight back in the gale, Violet sighed deeply as she looked at the raindrops forming a white line along the edge of the umbrella.

She still underestimated how terrible the hurricane season could be.

The heavy rain not only submerged a third of her island, making it impossible for her to leave the warm fire, but also brought terrible humidity.

Violet had to maintain her [fishman] identity, relying on the scales that came with the character to protect herself from the damp.

The cooldown period for changing a character is only one month, which isn't difficult. The problem is that the [Fishman] character can only eat vegetarian food.

The strong winds caused all the berries growing in the bushes, the bananas on the trees, and the seaweed in the sea to fall into the muddy sand, where they quickly turned into inedible rotten matter in a very short time.

Farming is an urgent matter.

After the rain stopped, Violet collected the [shattered ice] that had appeared on the island along with the rain. Every four pieces of [shattered ice] collected could be combined into one [ice block]. Violet carefully stored them in the refrigerator as an essential cooling material for the dry season six months later.

The fierce winds ripped trees and grass from the soil, turning them all into damp materials. Some were even blown directly into the sea, disappearing completely with the waves.

Considering the occasional strong winds that would continue to occur, Violet put the grass and branches with roots that could be replanted into a box, preparing to cultivate them all together next season.

She cleared a large enough area in the woods to serve as a farm area, where she planned to plant and cultivate crops.

The [unknown seeds] brought by the birds will grow into random plants. Only by feeding the fruits after planting back to the birds can a stable source of seeds be obtained.

Gale days are not suitable for birds to fly. When she was sheltering from the rain, Violet calculated that during the hurricane season, seabirds were much more likely to land on the island than during the mild season.

Place the seeds in the bird trap, and the little creatures that haven't eaten for a long time due to the weather will foolishly walk into the trap, get tangled in the rope, and bounce up and down on the ground like a ball of yarn.

Violet planned to select one of the birds that was healthy enough and had bright feathers, and put it in the tall, golden birdcage as one of the important decorations in her home.

After releasing the drab little bird from the birdcage, Vera, who had been angrily pecked at twice by the bird, happily took the [plowing machine] she had just made and walked into the woods.

The [tiller] placed on the ground can work on its own without any energy. Each [tiller] can be used 4 times, each time cultivating a 3*3 basic farmland area.

The hard soil and rocks were crushed and turned over by the tiller, and Violet leaned on the hoe with one hand, waiting for it to finish its work.

Finally, four neat 3x3 plots of farmland were arranged among the trees. Weeds and stones were carefully cleared from the plots by Violet with a hoe. The basic farmland couldn't be used to plant crops directly; certain materials were needed to transform it into a beginner or advanced farm before the seeds could grow.

[You do not have enough materials to unlock the current blueprint]

Huh?

Standing beside the farmland, Vera paused for a moment, then quickly went to check the materials needed for the beginner and advanced farms.

[Basic Farm (Crop Maturity Time: 40 Days)]

[Materials: 8 cut grass, 4 pieces of wood, 4 pieces of poop]

[Advanced Farm (Crop maturity time 20 days)]

[Materials: 10 cut grass, 4 stones, 6 droppings]

Violet was stunned. Although players need to eat, they don't seem to need to excrete!

She will not poop!

Who would have thought that this would be the obstacle to her great farming career!

"No!" Violet angrily slammed her fist on the ground, her expression serious and determined.

She needs to figure out a way to bring a stable poop provider to the island.

Achoo!

Luo, who had set sail in search of a way to become stronger, looked at the towering waves crashing before him: "...Is this...over?"

The once calm sea suddenly became incredibly violent after crossing an unseen boundary, with storms and giant waves connecting heaven and earth, and thick, golden lightning piercing the sea.

Luo felt like he was really going to die.

The ship beneath his feet capsized to one side, and at the last moment he was still clinging tightly to the mast. But as a Devil Fruit user rejected by the sea, Law felt as if his limbs were filled with lead no matter how much he struggled.

Is it...an illusion? In a daze, Luo seemed to see an island in the waves.

Welcome to R'lyeh
