Chapter 6: The players looted.
Vera, who thought she had understood the NPC's hint, nodded: "I understand."
Beckman glanced at Vil. He found it difficult to read her true thoughts from her rarely fluctuating expression, but his intuition told him that Vil was unlikely to give up so easily.
“This sea is dangerous, Violet.” Beckman looked at the campfire burning in the middle of the group. The firelight illuminated his face, and the shadows cast by his brow bones covered his deep-set eyes.
His voice carried a hint of emotion that was hard for Vera to discern: "The danger I'm referring to isn't just the sea, the creatures on the islands, and the harsh natural conditions."
"The most important thing is people. In the new world, the most dangerous thing will always be people."
"Or to put it simply, pirates." Shanks leaned closer to Violet, the strong smell of alcohol making her frown. "What if Violet encounters other dangerous pirates in the future..."
Shanks looked down at Violet, his expression more serious than Violet had ever seen: "You can just state the name of the Red-Haired Pirates."
"The Red-Haired Pirates will not stand idly by and watch any of our friends get hurt."
Violet turned to look at Beckman, who casually took a sip of his drink: "This name works fairly well in the New World."
Val blinked and looked back at Shanks. Whether it was his poorly dressed floral shorts, the stubble on his chin, or the awful smell of alcohol mixed with some strange odor... Shanks really didn't look like a great man at all.
Especially after making that cool declaration, Shanks went back to his previous state of frantically drinking. He lifted a wooden barrel almost as tall as Violet with one hand, and the way he drank half and spilled the other half made Violet want to grab his ear and ask him if he had ever memorized "Every grain of rice is hard-earned".
but……
"Shanks is so cool, that line he said!"
Shanks paused in his drinking motion, then flashed a bright smile at Violet, revealing two rows of perfectly white teeth: "Haha, I think so too!"
"Damn it, such cool lines actually came from an NPC!" Violet clenched her fist in frustration. "One day, I'll stand before you again..."
"...And then I'll tell you, if you encounter any danger, just give me my name!" Vera pointed to herself with one thumb and patted Shanks' shoulder with the other. "You, Shanks, are under my protection!"
Shanks' mouth dropped open, and the roasted meat in his hand fell onto his lap.
"Shanks, aren't you very moved?" Vale leaned close to Shanks. "Did you cry?"
Shanks grabbed Violet's face and pushed her away: "No way!"
"Ugh, Shanks, this is so dirty! I'm losing sanity!"
Watching the two bickering, Yasopp and Beckman remarked, "Kids really have a lot of energy."
Beckman: "...The fleet should leave the Grand Line temporarily after a while. Should we take a look at the East Blue?"
Yasopp's wife and son are currently living in the village of Silobu in the East Sea.
Upon hearing this, Yasopp's expression turned somewhat melancholy. He looked up at the twinkling stars in the sky and said, "Never mind, I won't bother them... I'm not a good father."
He can't always be by his wife and children's side, so his position as a member of the Red-Haired Pirates not only fails to protect them, but also puts them in danger.
Beckman snorted: "He's definitely a jerk in that respect, but at least he has some self-awareness."
That's why he rejected Shanks's idea of having Violet join the Red-Haired Pirates. He could sense that Violet possessed a quiet and stable aura that was out of place with these pirates who yearned for freedom and adventure.
"But speaking of which, are we going to leave the Grand Line?"
"Yes, we've received information about 'that fruit.' Shanks plans to retrieve it personally in a couple of days. He'll need to rest for a while afterward."
Beckman stubbed out his cigarette on the rock beneath him, his calm words carrying a barely perceptible stench of blood.
Yasopp pounded his temple with the butt of his gun: "Wow, quite a few remarkable things have happened lately."
——
Bang, bang, bang, bang...
The rhythmic sound of chopping wood woke Shanks. He frowned, muttered something under his breath, covered his eyes with the back of his hand, and rolled over to go back to sleep.
"Ah, Violet, spare that poor coconut tree!"
"Yeah, you've been chopping for hours, aren't you tired?!"
"Look, Violet! There are crabs on the beach. Go chase them and play!"
Whose voices are these? The road, and Benk Bingge and the others?
Then came Vera's familiar, yet baffling, reply.
"Damn NPC, don't block my movement! Let me stack up my items first!"
"I don't understand what you're saying at all, but don't you ever need to rest? Are you going to let the coconut trees go extinct on this island?"
While engrossed in her tree-cutting mission, Violet thought to herself, "How could that be? Every time I cut down a coconut tree, it drops two or three coconuts. I'll replant one of them in the same spot. This way, I can maintain the sustainable development of the game's resources and reduce the coconut trees' hatred towards me, thus preventing the spawning of coconut tree spirits, monsters that appear due to excessive logging."
Each slot in the pocket backpack can only hold one type of item. Different items have different stacking limits. For example, grass and twigs have a maximum stacking limit of 40, while wood has a maximum stacking limit of 20.
Although it's not a problem if it's not fully stacked, Violet felt uncomfortable looking at the numbers 17 and 34.
So the members of the Red-Haired Pirates, who got up early, saw Violet open her eyes as soon as it was light, fold the star-patterned cloak covering her and place it next to Yasopp. Then, she nimbly ran to a coconut tree not far away, took out a stone axe from her pocket and started chopping at the tree. Her movements were so agile that one couldn't help but wonder if she hadn't slept at all last night.
Hongo, who hadn't been drinking because he was preparing the ointment, was sitting on the beach watching the sunrise when he suddenly heard his pirate subordinates exclaim in surprise. He yawned and lazily turned his head, only to see a coconut tree trunk rapidly enlarging in front of him.
Hongo: "..."
He nimbly dodged to avoid being knocked unconscious by the tree trunk. Then he saw the little girl named Vera rush up to him, greet him with a perfunctory "Good morning, Hongo," and then turn her attention to the felled coconut tree. Wielding her simple, ancient stone axe, she quickly dismantled the entire coconut tree into equal-sized trunks and stuffed them all into her pockets.
Honjo watched helplessly as Vera swept through the beach, cutting down every visible coconut tree, stuffing every blade of grass and branch into her pockets, and even smashing seemingly useless limpet-covered rocks into small pieces with a pickaxe.
Without the shade of the leaves, Shanks, who was feeling the heat of the sun, reluctantly sat up, shook the sand off his cloak, rubbed his face vigorously, and then lazily opened his eyes.
call--
The wind rose from the sea and blew unimpeded to the red-haired captain. Shanks looked at the bare beach in front of him, several question marks popping into his head.
"Did they set sail again and relocate to a different island while I was sleeping?!"
How long has he been asleep? That shouldn't be possible. That little bit of alcohol shouldn't have made him this drunk. Could it be that he went on a drunken rampage in his sleep last night and was then knocked unconscious by Beckman?
"Hey, Violet, you're still with us? Have you decided to join the Red-Haired Pirates?"
Violet looked at Shanks and then at Hongo: "Ship doctor, I don't understand what Shanks is saying?"
Hongo: "Shanks, you only slept one night, and this is still the same island."
Shanks: "What?! What happened to the tree that was originally above my head? And what happened to those weirdly shaped, super cool rocks that were originally on the beach?"
Violet: "I put it in my backpack."
After speaking, Violet walked to the beach, took out the materials for making a raft from her pocket and backpack, and quickly made a bright green raft that Shanks and the others recognized very well, and pushed it into the water.
Violet jumped onto the bamboo raft and paddled to prepare to head to the next map.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Shanks quickly pulled the person back. "You're really planning to use this thing to cross the sea in the New World?"
"Wasn't it just a wave that capsized it? Violet, are you a really good swimmer?" Shanks thought of the legendary vice-captain of Roger's pirate crew, a tough guy who could swim across the Calm Belt.
Violet: "Swimming? I don't think that'll work. I'll melt if I fall into the sea." As we all know, the fact that players are easily soluble in water is a common setting in many games.
Shanks: "Don't say such terrible things with such a calm expression!"
From a distance, Beckman called out to the two, "Shanks, Val, get ready, we're about to set off!"
Although not as grand as the Moby Dick, the Red Fosse was still a large ship. Invited to board, Violet treated the ship like an Easter egg map in the game and immediately began her looting spree.
On the vast ocean, replenishing what is lacking is obviously not as easy as on land. To ensure the smooth progress of the fleet's voyage, Beckman locked himself in his room as soon as he boarded the ship, preparing to organize the fleet's current supplies inventory.
It was at this moment that Violet pushed open the door and walked into the room.
Everyone on the ship knew that they should never disturb First Mate Beckman when he was organizing funds and supplies, otherwise even if the red-haired captain came, he would be scolded and slunk away.
But Violet just pushed the door open as if no one else was there. To Beckman's astonishment, she not only touched and rummaged through the room, but she also opened his wardrobe and started rummaging through his clothes.
"Hey, it's a box. Is there treasure inside?! What? It's just a box..."
With a bang, Beckman, his face dark, slammed the suitcase shut with one hand, grabbed Wel's collar, and threw her out of the room.
Shanks and the others, who were waiting outside to see what would happen, saw a dark shadow streak across the sky. Yasopp caught Vale, who was flying in the air, with one hand.
Beckman, standing behind the door, glanced coldly at the group outside: "Don't you have anything to do?"
Yasopp: "Ah, I suddenly remembered that I was supposed to be on guard today!"
Lu: "...Hiss, the cabbages in the kitchen don't look clean. I need to go check on them right away."
Hongo: "I remember there are some emergency medicines on the ship. I'll go find them and bring them to Vera later."
Shanks: "..."
Beckman lazily raised his eyes and looked at Shanks.
Shanks: "Haha, it seems like Violet hasn't given up on finding Big Mom yet. I... I'll go talk to her properly!"
An angry first mate is truly terrifying!
