Chapter 38 The Player's Monster Island
As Violet approached the baby reindeer, Hiruluk was stroking its belly to examine its injuries.
The baby reindeer tilted its head to the side, half its face buried in the snow, struggling to breathe.
Hiluluk pressed on its ribs to check for any signs of fracture. As soon as he applied pressure, he heard a loud cracking sound. The little reindeer suddenly raised its head, its eyes widened, and then it fell straight down again.
Dragon: "...You seem to have broken its ribs, doctor."
Hiluluk: "Ahhh, what? How could this happen? Help, doctor, doctor... Ah, I am the doctor."
Long Wuyu: "He really is a quack... Violet, do you want to take a look?"
Violet crouched down and touched the little reindeer's blue nose. It was cute; she wanted to keep it.
She gently straightened the baby reindeer's head and laid it on her lap, then took a bowl of clam soup from her backpack and fed it to the little reindeer. Even while unconscious, the little reindeer, with its strong will to survive, desperately swallowed the warm, thick soup.
Speaking of which, can reindeer actually be eaten?
Hiluluk first smelled an extremely aggressive aroma. The girl actually took out a steaming, fragrant soup from her backpack and fed it to the little reindeer.
Just as Hiruluk was about to stop the girl from telling her that injured people shouldn't eat seafood, he saw the wounds on the little reindeer's body begin to heal visibly, and its right leg, which had been swollen and twisted due to a fracture, gradually returned to normal.
Hiluluk's eyes were practically popping out of their sockets.
Hiruluk: "God, miracle healer..."
He grabbed Vera's wrist, his eyes filled with unprecedented fervor: "Is this the legendary panacea that can cure all diseases? How did you do it?!"
Long, unable to stand it any longer, stepped forward to stop them: "Hey, don't get physical."
Just then, they heard an angry female voice shout: "You little brats, how dare you swagger around here?"
Accompanying the woman's voice was a forest collapsing with a deafening roar. The loud noise and tremors startled the reindeer herd, causing them to scatter in all directions like madmen.
Amidst the rising dust and snow, tiny black dots appeared. With a serious expression, the dragon grabbed the stone spear that Violet had placed aside and used it to knock away the rapidly enlarging, gleaming weapons.
Hiluluk: "Aaaaah!"
Hiluluk retreated with both hands, only to have a sharp dagger pierce through his gray hair and into the tree trunk behind him. Several more daggers then pierced his body and into the snow.
Hiluluk dared not move again; he felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.
What on earth happened today? Why are all these exciting things happening one after another?!
He's already an old man; he really can't handle such a tumultuous life!
Faced with a real threat to their lives, the two previously terrifying individuals suddenly became quite handsome: "Help, help me..."
A slender figure appeared behind the snow mist. It was an older woman wearing sunglasses, pointed leather shoes, and a fitted long-sleeved shirt and trousers. She held an extravagantly large wine bottle in one hand and several familiar-looking daggers in the other.
Hiluluk: "Dr. Kureha?!"
Gureva tilted her head back and took a sip of her drink with a flourish: "I thought I received a distress signal from an idiot, but it seems I misunderstood?"
Hiluluk: "No, no, no, oh yes, yes, Dr. Kureha, please take a look at this child's injuries!"
Dr. Gureva is a famous doctor on Drum Island. No one knows her exact age. Even if she is an elderly woman with gray hair and a shaky gait, in their memory, Gureva has looked the same as they have since they were children.
"Oh?" Kureha looked at the unusually excited Hiruluk and walked forward with interest. As she passed the wary dragon, Kureha glanced at him from head to toe.
"You look familiar, young man."
Long chuckled, confirming that Gureva had recognized him. Of course, he had heard of this renowned doctor before.
However, he did not come here as the leader of the revolutionary army this time: "Is that so? Maybe it's because I have a rather generic face."
Hiluluk stared at the dragon in shock, his gaze sweeping incredulously over the tattoos on its face.
Is this what you call a generic face?
Gureva understood what the dragon meant, but she didn't delve into it. At her age, she had lost interest in the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
Whether the dragon wants to overthrow the World Government or collude with them, it has nothing to do with her, a doctor living in seclusion on Winter Island.
At Hiruluk's invitation, Gureva glanced at the little reindeer lying in the snow. With just that one glance, the experienced doctor sensed something was wrong.
“This is…” Gureva reached out and pressed down on the little reindeer’s right leg. The seemingly rough action did not actually harm it in the slightest.
Gureeva swept her gaze across the crowd: "Who treated the wounds?"
Dragon and Hiruluk both took a step back.
Violet: ?
Gureva squinted at the little girl in front of her who was only up to her thigh.
Violet: "...Yes, it's me."
Violet: "This is my mount." A reindeer with a unique blue nose—don't even think about taking it from the players!
Vera: "Achoo! It's so cold, I'm starting to lose blood!"
As Gureva watched in terror pull two frozen stones from her bosom, and the equally terrified revolutionary leader try to take off his last piece of clothing and drape it over her, she felt her blood pressure rise.
Gureeva: "This is not the place to talk. Let's find a warmer place to settle the wounded first."
Gureva is a highly skilled, expensive, rough, and short-tempered doctor, but she will never abandon a patient she takes a liking to unless the patient is cured or dies.
Violet, her vision blurring from the blood loss, trembled as she raised her hand: "I agree."
Hiluluk added firewood to the fireplace until the flames were so strong they were almost leaping out of the fireplace.
Violet moved her frozen fingers: "Phew, I'm alive again."
Gureva skillfully retrieved Hiruluk's treasured wine from the pile of clutter.
Hiluluk: "Wait, this is the last bottle!"
Kureha: "Is that so? Then consider it an apology for bothering me."
She looked at the little reindeer that had been placed on the bed and was breathing evenly, and at Vera, who was sitting on the edge of the bed drinking a hot vegetable soup that she didn't know where she had pulled out.
Vil noticed Gureva's gaze and took out several more servings of [asparagus soup] from her pocket and handed them to them.
Vera: "Want a drink?"
Before leaving, Luo packed her a lot of vegetarian food. Although the asparagus soup itself didn't have a heating effect, the warm soup made Vera feel like the cold air was being expelled from her body.
Gureva took the bowl of green soup, smelled it, and tentatively took a small sip.
A warm current spread from her stomach throughout her body, and Gureva stared at Vera in surprise.
This vegetable soup actually has restorative properties and even seems to have a small amount of energy-boosting properties!
Who on earth is this person?!
"Hmm..." The little reindeer, attracted by the fragrance, slowly opened its eyes, and let out a short, terrified cry upon seeing the unfamiliar ceiling.
"Ah, ahh!"
It curled up in the corner, clutching its blanket, and pointed its tender antlers at them, trying its best to make a fierce expression.
Its family... they've all disappeared. Was it abandoned again? Why did it have this annoying blue nose since birth...?
The baby reindeer's eyes gradually welled up with tears.
Dragon: "Your movements are very agile; you seem to have recovered quite well."
Violet greeted it: "Hi, hello, I saved you, now you're my mount."
Hiluluk: "Why do I feel a little touched, yet also a little strange?"
Violet rubbed a cowbell in her hand, approached the little reindeer, touched its nose, and shook the golden bell in front of it.
[You have already bound "Chopper"]
Chopper's eyes widened as he felt the touch on his nose, his body pressed against the wall, trembling.
She discovered her disgusting blue nose, and was she going to get beaten up again?
[No, please don't hit me, I'll be good.]
Vera: "Hey, hit you? Why wouldn't I hit you?"
Violet: "You are my mount, and I will bring you to live on my island."
The dragon stroked its chin: "Vell, can you understand its speech?"
"Because I'm bonded to Chopper, we're now on the same wavelength!"
A dry, questioning voice rang out: "Chopper?"
Hiluluk: "My God, the reindeer are talking?!"
Gureeva, holding the bottle, said, "Looks like this isn't an ordinary reindeer."
The more wisdom one possesses, the greater the pain of being rejected.
"Wow!" Violet sat on the edge of the bed, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Chopper. "So cool!"
No wonder it was chosen by the player at first glance; it's truly unique!
Chopper was so frightened that he grabbed the blanket to cover his face.
[Chopper, Chopper can't talk, Chopper isn't a monster.]
Chopper was abandoned by the reindeer herd since he was a child because of his blue nose. He could only follow the reindeer herd at a distance and eat scraps. Half a month ago, Chopper ate a very unpalatable fruit, but in order to survive, the starving Chopper still forced himself to eat the whole fruit while suppressing the urge to vomit.
But an even more terrifying nightmare was about to begin.
That night, Chopper uncontrollably transformed into a half-human, half-reindeer, startling the reindeer herd. Even after he returned to normal, the herd could no longer tolerate Chopper's approach. The herd leader even led the reindeer to attack him multiple times, trying to drive Chopper away.
Chopper also tried to approach human villages, but he was met only with terrified screams and the sound of gunfire.
Chopper is a special child, but neither the reindeer herd nor humans can accept this specialness.
They called it a monster.
Violet removed the blanket from Chopper's face: "What an adorable blue nose, what a clever reindeer."
It is neither a monster nor an alien.
"You are definitely a one-of-a-kind Easter egg in this world." A surprise Easter egg just for players!
Chopper stared blankly at Vera.
Don't you think... I'm weird?
“Who said that?” Violet chuckled. “They must be jealous of your uniqueness.”
Looking at Vera's legs swinging easily, Long couldn't help but smile.
The island's ruler, a half-fish-man; Law, who suffers from lead poisoning; Ginny, who lives by magic; a bear, a half-Baccanian; and a leader of the Revolutionary Army...
There are already enough little monsters in R'lyeh.
Chopper isn't even in the running yet.
