Chapter 115: Attending the Hongmen Banquet

-

Zhao family

"Miss."

The servant at the main door saw the person coming back and hurriedly bowed and greeted him.

Su Cheng nodded slightly, walked into the main gate of the Zhao family, and happened to meet someone inside walking towards the door.

"Cousin Orange?"

Zhao Jue waved his folding fan and walked briskly. He looked up and saw Su Cheng approaching. His eyes suddenly lit up. "Why are you back from outside at this hour, cousin?"

Su Cheng glanced at him, put on a very faint smile, and said softly, "I'm going out. Do I need to say hello to Cousin Jue?"

Zhao Jue was insulted, but he showed no sign of anger. He stepped forward, fanning himself, blocking her path. "Cousin Chengcheng, I know you're wary of your family, but I'm different. As long as you don't resist me, I'll naturally accept you willingly."

Su Cheng raised her eyes, glanced at his face, and after a while she suddenly smiled, "Cousin Jue always uses this trick to seduce beautiful ladies?"

"What beautiful bride?" Zhao Jue raised his eyebrows, his eyes showing a hint of interest. He reached out to tidy up her hair, "I only have my cousin in mind."

"nausea."

"Take your hands and claws away." Two men's voices suddenly sounded. Zhao Jue paused and looked outside suspiciously.

Two people walked in from outside the door, one handsome face was followed by another even more handsome face, with an intimidating aura. Both of their eyes fell on Zhao Jue's hand, as if they would twist his hand off if he dared to touch a hair of Su Cheng.

"Who taught you to talk to a girl like that?" Xie Jinyu looked at him with a half-smile, the sarcasm in her eyes undisguised, "It's so greasy that it makes me slip."

Xie Ming remained silent, but his eyes were fixed on Zhao Jue's hand, and the threat in his eyes was obvious.

"Who are you?" Zhao Jue unconsciously took two steps back, looking at the two of them defensively. "You're dressed so poorly, and you're unworthy of entering my Zhao family? Come on, kick them out!"

"Who dares?"

Zhao Hu's voice rang out, and Zhao Jue froze. He looked in the direction of the voice in disbelief, muttering, "Second...Second Uncle?"

The man appeared at the door. Zhao Hu looked around coldly and said calmly, "It seems that you have been living well while I was away in Suyuan. You dare to ride on my head."

"Nephew, I dare not!" Zhao Jue lowered his head quickly, his face turning pale in an instant. "I didn't know my second uncle had returned home, and I didn't know these two young masters were my second uncle's people."

Zhao Hu glanced at him sideways, his eyes dark and deep, "Zhao Jue, you have changed a lot."

Hearing this, Zhao Jue didn't know what he was thinking about. His expression became even uglier and even his body trembled slightly.

"Jue'er—Hey, second brother?" Zhang was about to greet her son when she turned her head and saw the man beside her. She immediately exclaimed, "Why did second brother come back so suddenly? He didn't even send a letter home so that we could prepare."

"Father is going back to his own home. What does Third Aunt want to prepare?" Su Cheng asked with a smile, not giving Zhang any face at all.

Zhao Hu just smiled and said nothing, watching the show coldly.

"You!" Zhang's expression suddenly changed. She wanted to get angry at Su Cheng, but considering the head of the family, she swallowed her anger. "Second brother, I'm not saying anything bad about you as your younger sister-in-law, but you went on a long trip and brought back such a grown-up daughter. You've turned our family upside down. Since she came, there has been no peace at home."

"Second brother has been injured and has been without his wife and children for so many years. Everyone in the family understands his desire for a successor, but we must be cautious. Second brother, please don't let anyone fool you." Zhang pursed her lips, her eyes flickering across Su Cheng's pretty face. "Second brother and this girl don't look alike at all."

Zhao Hu remained silent, just lowered his head and played with his jade ring, as if waiting for Su Cheng to speak.

"Third Aunt always avoids others when she says this." Su Cheng sneered and walked around Zhao Jue in front of him. "From my point of view, Cousin Jue doesn't look like Third Aunt in terms of his figure or features. Could it be that... Cousin Jue was brought back from outside by Third Uncle?"

Zhang was stunned for a moment, then flew into a rage, "You!"

How could Su Cheng give her a chance to fight back? She interrupted her with a smile and whispered softly, "Aunt San, please investigate thoroughly. Don't raise a child for someone else in vain. It will be more trouble than it's worth."

"You...you..." Zhang covered her chest, her face pale with anger, her chest heaving violently, and she almost bit her teeth off, "Su Cheng, you bitch..."

"That's enough." Zhao Hu sighed softly, his cold gaze sweeping across Zhang's face. He said in a deep voice, "How old are you? You're still treating children like that. If this gets out, aren't you afraid of being laughed at? As a parent, is this the kind of role model you set for Zhao Jue?"

"I..." Zhang was speechless and could only glare at Su Cheng fiercely, whispering, "Second brother is teaching me a lesson. I know I was wrong."

"Ahu?" Qian came hurriedly with a polite smile on her face. "You are finally home. You have been on a long journey. I have asked someone to prepare dinner to welcome you home."

Zhao Hu nodded slightly and pulled the corner of his lips, "Thank you for your concern, sister-in-law."

"We're one family, why are we talking behind each other's backs?" Qian glared at him angrily, then smiled as if she had just seen Su Cheng, "It just so happens that my niece is here too, let's sit down and have a good meal together. You didn't come home the other day, and we didn't know where she was, so we had some unpleasantness. It's a good opportunity to take advantage of today when everyone is here, so let's shake hands and make peace."

Zhao Hu glanced at Su Cheng and signaled her with his eyes to continue.

Su Cheng understood and smiled harmlessly, "My aunt also said that we are family and there is no need to talk behind each other's backs. I don't take the past things to heart at all."

"That's what a good child is." Qian agreed repeatedly and calmly winked at the maid beside her, "Why don't you hurry up and rush the kitchen? It's getting late, hurry up and serve the food."

The old woman nodded hurriedly and said, "Yes, I will go right away."

Su Cheng noticed her little action, the smile on his lips deepened, and he couldn't help but look forward to the dinner in the evening.

"Hongmen Banquet." Xie Ming stood beside her, his thin lips parted as he whispered a warning, "Be careful with everything."

"Don't worry, I understand." Su Cheng responded to him, his eyes falling on Qian and Zhang, a cunning flash in his eyes.

At the Hongmen Banquet, it is still unclear who will be deceived.

-

The sun was setting in the west, and the huge hall was filled with members of the Zhao family.

Zhao Hu sat in the main seat, with dozens of delicacies placed on the round table in front of him. He paused in mid-air with his hand holding the chopsticks, then gently put them down.

"What's wrong, Ahu?" Qian noticed his expression and spoke carefully, "Isn't the food tonight to your taste?"

"This table is filled with a dazzling array of delicious food, with a wide variety of flavors. I'm almost overwhelmed by the choices. How could Father not like it?" Su Cheng put down his chopsticks, glanced at Qian Shi beside him, and asked with a smile, "But this table is filled with chicken, duck, fish, meat, shrimp, crab, and seafood. How much money did Aunt spend from the mansion?"
