Chapter 128: Falling out

Chapter 128: Falling out

"Wipe your stained face."

Zhao Hu threw a handkerchief at her, his eyes flashed across her dirty face, and he held his forehead helplessly.

He could even imagine what his colleagues would say about him tomorrow morning.

"Thank you, Lord Zhao." Su Cheng took the handkerchief and thanked him very politely.

"You made yourself so miserable just to save a wild cat?" Zhao Hu stared at her sideways, with a tentative tone in his words.

"After all, it's a life. We can't just watch it being killed by those kids." Su Cheng gently wiped the soot off his face, revealing his fair and flawless face, and spoke in a calm tone.

Zhao Hu sighed softly, his voice unable to tell whether he was happy or angry. "Do you know who the leader is?"

"Ninth Prince."

Zhao Hu was startled, then frowned and asked, "Since you know who he is, how could you have the courage to offend him? The Imperial Concubine only has this one son, and he's so young, she loves him like a treasure, and you..."

"Even if he is the king of heaven, he cannot cruelly kill a life." Su Cheng said indifferently, his face cold, "When children are naughty, it is the parents' fault."

Zhao Hu's expression changed, and he scolded in a low voice, "You just left the palace, don't talk nonsense."

Su Cheng shrugged, obediently shut his mouth and said nothing.

Zhao Hu's face darkened as he patiently warned, "I'm going out for a while. It will take me two days at the earliest and three to five days at the latest to return home. Be careful in the mansion."

Su Cheng raised his eyes, surprise flashing in his eyes, "Where is Lord Zhao going?"

"Fo'an Temple." Zhao Hu lifted a corner of the curtain and looked outside. After confirming that his carriage was the only one on the street, he spoke with confidence, "The prince of Duke Su broke his leg on the battlefield. Duke Su and his wife went to Fo'an Temple to pray for their son. The Duke and I are old acquaintances, so I should go and offer my condolences."

"Fo'an Temple..." Su Cheng's eyes lit up, and he became interested. "Master Zhao, can you take me with you?"

"Take you?" Zhao Hu frowned, his tone puzzled. "What are you going to the temple for?"

Su Cheng smiled and said naturally, "My uncle is taking part in the provincial examination, and I want to ask for a good fortune for him."

"I see." Zhao Hu nodded slightly, not doubting her. "It's not a bad idea to take you there. There's just one thing: you can't put soot on your face anymore."

“…I would be laughed at by my colleagues.”

The corners of Su Cheng's mouth twitched twice, and he looked a little guilty. "I know."

Zhao family

The carriage stopped in front of the mansion gate. Su Cheng, wrapped in a thick blanket, walked out of the carriage nimbly.

Zhao Hu followed behind her with steady steps.

"Master! Master, something bad has happened!"

A young servant in brown clothes ran over hurriedly and saw Zhao Hu as if he had seen his savior.

"Nonsense." Zhao Hu glared at him secretly and said in a low voice, "What happened to make you so panicked?"

"Third Madam... Third Madam she..." The servant kept gasping for breath, his face pale, as if he had seen something terrible.

Zhao Hu frowned and scolded in a low voice, "Useless thing, hurry up and tell me."

"Third Grandma killed Young Master Ying!"

As soon as the servant finished speaking, Zhao Hu's expression suddenly changed. He and Su Cheng looked at each other and rushed towards the mansion together.

The main house's yard was in an uproar, filled with shouting and crying.

"Zhang Zhi, you vicious woman!" Qian fell to her knees, holding the blood-soaked Zhao Ying in her arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "Ying'er isn't even ten years old! He's just a child, your nephew! How could you have the heart to do this to him?"

The knife in Zhang's hand was still dripping with blood. She tilted her head back and laughed crazily, "Retribution, this is all retribution! Qian Fanghua, you framed my son and wanted my Jue'er to give up his position to that loser in your family. I won't let you do that!"

"Since you took my son's life, your eldest son will have no descendants!"

Qian raised her head in disbelief and shouted, "Bitch, what nonsense are you talking about? How could I have killed your son? The murderer was clearly——"

Before she could finish her words, she saw Su Cheng standing in the crowd, smiling softly at her.

The words that were about to come out of her mouth suddenly stopped. Qian took a few deep breaths and forced herself to hold the words back.

"What are you guys doing?"

Manager Liu pushed the crowd aside and cleared a path for Zhao Hu.

Zhao Hu walked slowly forward and looked at the farce in the yard.

There were spots of blood on the ground. Zhao Ying was lying in Qian's arms, his head leaning back weakly, and he was completely dead.

Zhao Hu paused and looked at the fat woman with a crazy smile, shocked by her courage.

"Ahu!" When Qian saw him, tears could not be stopped and she cried loudly, "Zhang Zhi has gone crazy. She took advantage of our absence, drove away the servants, and killed Ying'er with a knife. Ahu, Ying'er is the only male left in our Zhao family!"

Zhao Hu's eyes turned cold, and he looked at Zhang steadily, saying in a deep voice, "Sister-in-law, you have violated the law and committed murder with a knife. Even gods cannot save you."

"Since I've done it, I'm not afraid of paying with my own life." Zhang held her head high, her expression firm, without a trace of fear, only the joy of having her revenge taken. "Even if I die, I will avenge my son!"

"Evil woman, let me tell you again, Zhao Jue's death has nothing to do with our eldest wife..."

"Then why did you stop me from reporting it to the police?"

This question stumped Qian, and she stammered and couldn't answer.

Seeing this, Zhang snorted coldly, not hiding the hatred in her eyes. "I've been following you around for over twenty years, selling you smiles. How could I not know what kind of person you are? You emptied the Zhao family to support your own family, and stuffed the entire inheritance of Zhao Shuo, the second wife, and his wife's dowry into your own pocket. I know your true feelings, but when have I ever made them public?"

"Qian Fanghua, how dare you treat me like this?" Zhang seemed extremely angry and blurted out all the grievances she had suffered over the years.

"The Zhao family is now strong on the outside but weak on the inside, yet you, the eldest branch, are all decked out in gold and silver. You know how much they've embezzled! And what about Zhao Chen? He's been a lifelong gambler. Where did he get his money?"

"Stop slandering me!" A flash of panic crossed Qian's face, and then she flew into a rage, not even caring about the child in her arms. "Don't try to smear me for something I haven't done! Don't just focus on me. What kind of good are you, your family?"

"Zhao Jue is obsessed with lust and has murdered five or six decent girls. If it weren't for my uncle's intervention, he would have been in jail for life! You helped your son find girls, tricked them into submission, and robbed them. You are completely devoid of conscience!"

"You're talking nonsense! Don't think I don't know Zhao Sheng'er..."

The two women started a fight without caring about anything and wrestled with each other, determined to get the upper hand over the other.

"stop!"

Zhao Hu shouted angrily, and the two women were shocked and stopped moving subconsciously.

Su Cheng clapped his hands repeatedly, truly watching a good show. "This verbal battle is really exciting. What other private matters do the two aunts have? Why not tell us together?"
