Chapter 140 A Surprise Encounter at Baihuafang
"Come with me, there's no need to waste time with him."
Su Cheng tugged at the man's sleeve and spoke in a low voice.
Xie Suzhou's face was gloomy. His eyes swept from the vixen to Su Cheng, and suddenly softened when they landed on him. He said in a deep voice, "Okay."
Su Cheng grabbed Xie Suzhou's sleeve and pulled him away. When he passed by Ji Heng, he heard his chuckle.
"My dear, we will meet again."
Su Cheng looked back with a strange expression, and their eyes met. Ji Heng was leaning against the wall as if he had no bones, and waved his hand at her.
Xie Suzhou's eyelashes drooped slightly as he memorized his appearance carefully in his mind. His eyes seemed to be covered with ice, and they were terrifyingly gloomy.
Ji Heng, however, acted as if nothing had happened. He raised his eyebrows towards Xie Suzhou and smiled seductively, the provocation in his smile obvious.
"It's really inexplicable." Su Cheng glanced at him, then pulled the man beside him away.
His eyes followed her figure until she walked into the corner. Ji Heng slowly withdrew his gaze, pursed his lips and smiled, "Interesting."
"Ji Heng."
The man was in a private room not far away. He glanced at him, and Ji Heng walked lightly to the man's side.
The door of the private room closed tightly. The man turned around and looked at him, his brows furrowed. "Heng, why are you fighting with a weak man outside?"
"That's not a man, it's a young girl." Since there was no one else in the room, Ji Heng's upturned lips straightened, and his tone was indifferent, "I checked carefully, she doesn't have an Adam's apple."
The man pinched his brows, his voice revealing fatigue. "Heng, we don't have much time left. We just received a secret letter from our informant. The strategic military map... has been stolen."
"What!" Ji Heng's face changed drastically. He stood up suddenly and accidentally knocked over the teacup on the table.
The crisp sound of porcelain breaking rang out in the house, bringing back some of his sanity.
"How could something so important be stolen?" Ji Heng glared at him, his voice tinged with anger. "We've been deployed for so many years, and the military map we've drawn is almost as tall as a man. How could such a huge thing be stolen? Are the people guarding the military map useless?"
"It's Bai Moyan." The man's expression wasn't any better, and he replied in a deep voice, "He's been hiding among us for eight years, pretending to surrender. On the day the military map was stolen, he was the one who sent the four guards away, and Princess Rongqing also... escaped."
Ji Heng was so angry that he couldn't keep his balance for a moment. He took two steps back and fell on the couch. "What a Bai Moyan... What a great Princess of Chu! I blame myself for underestimating them."
"Heng, we haven't even found any trace of Zhang Yuemei yet. If the military map is sent to Da Chu, everything will be over!"
"The Emperor of Great Chu has few daughters. Aside from Rongqing, who married into the imperial family, the remaining two princesses are still young. Currently, the affairs of state in Great Chu are managed by the Prime Minister Zhang Pu. Zhang Yuemei is his only daughter. If we can get in touch with her, we might be able to find something useful."
The man's words rang in his ears. Ji Heng sighed softly, a trace of anger rising between his brows. "How could I not know how important Zhang Yuemei is? If I could find her, I would have done it long ago. Why would I wait until now?"
"Then you just..."
"That girl disguised as a man just now must be quite something. She was dressed simply and entered Baihuafang alone. She wasn't there to have fun, nor was she looking for a husband. It seemed like she was here to do something or find someone. That's why I got entangled with her for a while."
"The man next to her is also extraordinary. His aura can actually overwhelm me." Ji Heng played with the jade pendant hanging on his waist, his face cold. "Send someone to follow that girl. I have a feeling she's here to look for Zhang Yuemei."
"good."
Su Cheng casually opened the door of a room and pulled Xie Suzhou in. He carefully closed the door and looked back at him, "Why are you here?"
Xie Suzhou pursed his thin lips, staring straight at the men's clothes she was wearing, and remained silent.
Su Cheng's face flashed with guilt for a moment. He grasped the corner of his clothes and whispered, "This is new."
"My classmate invited me over for a get-together, but we didn't get along, so I decided to leave." Xie Suzhou took a deep breath, his brow furrowed. He had no idea what to do with the person in front of him. "What about you? Why are you here, and dressed like this?"
"I..." Su Cheng was about to speak, but suddenly thought of something and swallowed the words.
Xie Suzhou is a typical egoist who will never do anything that is not good for himself. If he knew that he was taking risks for others, he would definitely refuse without hesitation.
He thinks faster than anyone else and is good at reading people's faces. He must not let him see that there is anything wrong with him.
"Ah Cheng?"
Seeing that she was hesitant to speak, Xie Suzhou frowned even more tightly, approached, pressed her against the wall, and asked in a low voice, "Why are you avoiding answering?"
Su Cheng turned his head slightly, not wanting him to see anything on his face. "What else could I be doing here? Of course I heard this place is interesting, so I came to see what's going on."
"Ah Cheng, do you think Le Ji is interesting, or do you think Ling Ren is interesting?" Xie Suzhou lowered his eyes, gently lifted her face with his fingertips, and a faint smile curled up the corners of his lips. "Or, Ah Cheng, do you also think that domestic flowers are not as fragrant as wild flowers?"
Su Cheng's eyes dodged, and he murmured, "What's this about domestic flowers and wild flowers? I don't understand..."
"Ah Cheng, why don't you dare look at me?" Xie Suzhou frowned, vaguely sensing something was wrong. "What exactly are you doing here in Baihuafang?"
"I……"
A 'click' sound was heard in the house.
The sound was particularly loud in the empty room. The two people in the room changed their expressions at the same time and looked towards the wooden shelf with miscellaneous items placed diagonally in front of them.
The wooden frame was untouched and was actually moving slowly, revealing a secret door behind it. A figure walked out of the door and the secret door behind him closed instantly.
The person was tall and thin, like a woman, wearing a veil on her head, so her appearance could not be seen clearly.
She took two steps forward, stopped suddenly, turned around suspiciously, and scanned the surroundings with her sharp eyes.
There was no sign of anyone having been in the house, it was clean and tidy, but for some reason, she felt inexplicably uneasy, as if a pair of eyes were staring at her in the dark.
The woman was stunned for a moment, then she started to leave. When she was about to reach the door, she caught a glimpse of the white wall out of the corner of her eye and stopped again.
It looked like something hard had scratched the wall, leaving a shallow mark.
Su Cheng hid in the cupboard, staring at the woman's movements through a small gap. Seeing her staring at the white wall in a daze, he was suddenly frightened and broke out in a cold sweat. He put his fingertips on the silver hairpin and really felt some powder that had been scraped off the magnolia petals.
Damn it... there is always a loophole!
There was no messy furnishings in the house. Apart from the bunk bed and the wooden rack for storing miscellaneous items, there was only this wardrobe.
The woman pondered for a moment, then slowly turned around, her eyes fixed on the wardrobe in the corner.
The next moment, she walked towards the wardrobe.
