Chapter 152 Are You a Fairy?

Chapter 152 Are You a Fairy?

-

Taiwei Mansion

The red walls and green tiles stand in the sun, simple and elegant. Two stone lions stand in front of the door, looking majestic with their mouths wide open facing the visitors. There are many young palace soldiers patrolling inside, and even a fly can hardly fly in.

A green-roofed carriage stopped not far away. Su Cheng gently lowered the curtain with a serious expression.

The Taiwei Mansion is heavily guarded. How can she meet Shangguan Qingyun without alerting others?

"Miss, we must hurry." Cai Lian looked up at the sky and muttered softly, "The master of the house learned about what happened in the suburbs of Beijing a few days ago and was furious. For the sake of your safety, he has set a time for me to return home."

"I know. Let me think about what to do." Su Cheng frowned and was thinking about countermeasures when he suddenly saw a pretty figure jumping out of the Taiwei Mansion, followed by seven or eight maids.

"Miss, Miss, please wait for the servants..."

The girl had a round face and looked to be in her early teens. She was wearing a goose yellow long dress, and even the hairband tied on her bun was light yellow. She was wearing a pair of pink brocade shoes embroidered with butterfly patterns.

Ignoring the maids chasing after her, the little girl grinned, her childish face full of joy, "If you can catch up with me, I will be obedient and go back with you!"

She turned her head to look at the maids, not noticing a mad horse turning down the street.

"Miss! Be careful!"

The maids in the Taiwei Mansion changed their expressions and screamed. The little girl froze and turned around to see the oncoming horse hooves.

A fragrant breeze blew towards her, and in the blink of an eye, she fell into a soft and warm embrace.

"Are you okay?"

A soft voice sounded from above her head. The little girl looked up in a trance. Just one glance, and she suddenly became quiet, staring at the woman in front of her infatuatedly.

The sun shone obliquely, and the sunlight gently spread on her, making her like a fairy from heaven who had descended to the mortal world, so beautiful that people could not take their eyes off her.

"You..." The little girl blinked, her eyes filled with amazement, "Am I still alive... Are you a fairy?"

Su Cheng burst out laughing, more lively than when she was quiet, "Little girl, what's your name?"

"Shangguan Yuanyuan."

Shangguan?

The smile on Su Cheng's lips faded a little. He glanced at the Taiwei Mansion and asked softly, "Shangguan Qingyun is your father?"

"That's right." Shangguan Yuanyuan grabbed the corner of her clothes, not hiding her love for Su Cheng. "Fairy sister, who are you?"

"Just call me Su Cheng." Su Cheng leaned down to look her in the eye, a smile on his lips, a glint in his eyes, "Were you scared just now?"

The little girl nodded heavily, looking at the mad horse that was shot dead by a palace soldier not far away, with lingering fear, "Sister Su, you saved me, I should repay your kindness."

Su Cheng raised his eyebrows, with a hint of surprise in his eyes, "You are quite clever."

"My father taught me that even a drop of kindness should be repaid with a spring, let alone the great favor of saving my life." Shangguan Yuanyuan gently took her hand. A child her age was not defensive towards outsiders, let alone her lifesaver. "Sister Su, come home with me and I'll pick out some gifts for you, okay?"

Su Cheng remembered the token in his arms, and reluctantly agreed to her words and followed her back to the Taiwei Mansion.

The little girl's room was kept very clean. There were flower branches in vases and cups everywhere. The whole room was bright and there were seven or eight weapons in the yard. They were not large in size and seemed to be specially made for the little girl to practice with.

"Sister Su, this is a thank you gift I ordered to be prepared. You must accept it." Shangguan Yuanyuan handed over two boxes with a smile, "Also, these are my favorite snacks. Sister, try them."

Su Cheng agreed to everything, but his face looked a little absent-minded and he kept looking out the window.

Shangguan Yuanyuan keenly noticed her distraction and asked softly, "Sister Su, are you worried about something?"

Su Cheng turned around, met her big, twinkling eyes, and smiled softly, "Yuanyuan, when will your father be able to come back?"

Shangguan Yuanyuan was stunned for a moment, then seemed to think of something, and her eyes lit up.

Could it be that Sister Su wants to be my stepmother like those women outside?

Although there is a big age gap between Sister Su and my father, I would be happy if I could see this beautiful face every day.

Sister Su is always much better than those beautiful girls out there.

The little girl looked at her calmly, but she was still young and couldn't hide her emotions, which made Su Cheng notice something was wrong. "Yuanyuan?"

Hearing her voice, Shangguan Yuanyuan suddenly came back to her senses and quickly responded, "Sister Su, under normal circumstances, my father will be back in about a quarter of an hour."

Su Cheng understood and patiently played with the little girl for a while. A quarter of an hour later, he really heard footsteps coming from the yard.

"Yuanyuan!"

A man's low and hoarse voice sounded, and then the door was pushed open.

Su Cheng raised her eyes and saw the man's cold and indifferent face. When she saw that face, she was subconsciously stunned and forgot to salute.

The man was in his early forties, tall and well-proportioned, with a small scar the size of a finger joint at the end of his eyebrow. Time had not left many traces on his face, and one could still see the charm of his youth.

"Father!" Shangguan Yuanyuan exclaimed, jumped up from the stool, threw herself into the man's arms, looked up and called sweetly, "Father, Yuanyuan misses you so much!"

"I heard from the servants that you were nearly hit by a mad horse today." Shangguan Qingyun squatted down, his face showing a rare nervousness. "Let father take a look. Is there anything wrong?"

"I'm fine." Shangguan Yuanyuan held his hand, looked in Su Cheng's direction, and smiled brightly, "It was Sister Su who saved me."

Then he thought of something and immediately added, "Sister Su is a very good person!"

"Sister Su?" Shangguan Qingyun looked up at the woman standing at the table in a daze, his brows tightly furrowed.

He did hear that a girl saved Yuanyuan.

But how could such a coincidence happen in the world?

Shangguan Qingyun slowly stood up, his eyes fixed on Su Cheng with vigilance, and he whispered, "Excuse me, Miss Su, what is your full name? Where do you live? How many family members are there?"

"In reply to the commander, my name is Su Cheng, and I am the daughter of Zhao Hu, the assistant minister of the Ministry of War."

"Minister of War..." Shangguan Qingyun frowned even more tightly, and took a step back inconspicuously while holding Shangguan Yuanyuan.

Since she is the daughter of the Zhao family, why is her surname Su?

Shangguan Qingyun never cared about the gossip in the capital, so naturally he didn't know about the twists and turns in the Zhao family.

But before he could open his mouth, he saw the woman in front of him slowly took out a token, held it in her hand, and looked at him quietly.

When Shangguan Qingyun saw the token, his whole body trembled, and he bent his knees and knelt down towards the woman opposite him.

Shangguan Yuanyuan had no idea what was going on and just stared at the two of them blankly.

What’s going on…Why is Father kneeling down to Sister Su?
