Chapter 175 True Love or False Love

Chapter 175 True Love or False Love

"Mother, your son sincerely wants to reconcile with you."

Chang Shun presented a food box containing a bowl of ginseng soup with a thick layer of chicken fat floating on top.

Gu Yunchang only glanced at him, then looked away and said to Chang Shun calmly, "Go and help the prince up."

"yes."

"Mother..." Tang Song was carried back to the wheelchair. He looked up with a wronged expression, looking like a poor puppy abandoned by its owner. "Mother, are you still angry with your son?"

Gu Yunchang lowered her eyes and glared at him with a calm expression. "This matter, in the final analysis, is a conflict between your father and me. It has nothing to do with you. Although I don't blame you, I can't drink this bowl of soup of yours."

Tang Song paused, "Why...why is this?"

Chang Shun also tried to persuade her, "Madam, this bowl of ginseng chicken soup was cooked by the prince himself for more than half an hour."

Gu Yunchang's face remained calm, without a trace of resentment. "I've had my meal, so I'm not hungry right now."

After all, he was a child she had raised for eighteen years, and she couldn't say hurtful words to him in person. But if she accepted the bowl of soup, it would undoubtedly mean accepting him again, which would be unfair to Suzhou.

She couldn't do such a mess.

Tang Song's eyes flashed with resentment. He slowly lowered his head and said in a sad tone, "Mother, I am now a disabled man. I cannot bring honor to you and father. But I chose to go to the battlefield myself. I cannot blame others. I admit that when I first heard that you were determined to find your biological son, I felt dissatisfied."

"But think about it, if my brother comes back and can revive the Duke's Mansion, wouldn't that be an honor for me?"

Gu Yunchang was stunned, looked at him hesitantly, and murmured, "Are you willing to let Chen'er come back?"

"Of course!" Tang Song spoke hurriedly, fearing his mother would misunderstand him. "I'm not your biological son. I was saved by you and father. If it weren't for your kindness, I would have starved to death on the streets. I've occupied my brother's throne for eighteen years, and it's time to return it."

"All I ask for is... my parents' love and the prosperity of my family. I only ask that my mother stay by my side to give me space to fulfill my filial duty. That is enough."

Tears fell one after another, and Tang Song covered his face and cried. His body, which was already thin after his leg was broken, was now as thin as paper, as if it would fall apart with a gust of wind.

"Song'er..." Gu Yunchang bit her lower lip, her eyes also reddened, and she hurriedly called the maid beside her, "Changpu, bring the bowl of ginseng chicken soup over."

Changpu paused and subconsciously looked at Mingyue who was standing opposite her. The latter was holding her lower abdomen and shook her head at her calmly.

"Yes, ma'am." Changpu concealed the emotions in her eyes, took out chicken soup from the food box, and walked towards her master. When she got close to her master, she suddenly twisted her ankle and fell to the ground with the bowl.

With an extremely crisp sound, the soup bowl fell to the ground and broke into pieces.

Chang Pu couldn't help but scream and reached out to hold her ankles, but in just a moment, she struggled to get up, knelt down and kowtowed to her two masters, with a look of panic on her face, "I know I'm wrong, I know I'm wrong, please punish me, Madam!"

Seeing the soup spilled all over the floor, Gu Yunchang's eyes flashed with heartache, but she still waved her hand to call Changpu to stand up, "Did you sprain your ankle? Mingyue, take her downstairs to check it out."

"Yes." Mingyue bowed and saluted, then walked up to Changpu and helped her out.

A gloomy look flashed across Tang Song's eyes, but he didn't show it on his face. He just said regretfully, "This bowl of soup..."

Gu Yunchang noticed his expression, pursed her lips, and whispered comfortingly, "It's okay, your thought is there. Even if you don't get to drink the soup, your mother will feel warm in her heart."

Tang Song's eyes flashed with a hint of deepness. He smiled and nodded when he heard the words, "It is most important for a mother to know her son's heart."

Gu Yunchang held her forehead with her hand, a look of fatigue flashing across her face. "You go back, I'm tired and want to rest for a while."

Tang Song nodded and signaled Chang Shun with his eyes, "Mother, let Chang Shun clean up the dirt on the floor as well."

"Alright." Gu Yunchang waved her hand and said calmly, "Hurry up."

"Yes." Chang Shun knelt on the ground and cleaned up everything that was spilled on the ground. He even wiped the soup with a towel. After making sure that there was no more soup stuff on the ground, he pushed his master away.

Tang Song smiled at the person above him and said in a deep voice, "Mother, please rest early. I will take my leave."

Gu Yunchang nodded slightly and watched him leave.

Gu Yunchang didn't walk towards the bed until the door was closed. She never allowed others to come into her room to serve her. After her two maids were injured one after another, she simply took off all the pearls and jade in her hair, lay on the bed in her inner clothes, and looked at the pillow beside her. Tears couldn't help but slide down from the corner of her eyes.

In the garden, Mingyue let go of Changpu's hand, her brows shrouded in dark clouds, "Something is wrong. Given the prince's personality, would he take the initiative to seek peace with the lady?"

Avoiding other people's sight, Changpu changed his limping appearance, stood up straight, and stretched out his palm towards her.

"What is this..." Mingyue was stunned for a moment, then her eyes lit up, "Did you take the chicken out of the soup?"

"I'll take care of it, don't worry." Changpu carefully took out a handkerchief and wrapped the thumb-sized piece of chicken tightly, a playful smile on his lips. "The old lady taught me a long time ago that when you're in the Duke's Mansion, you have to be extremely cautious. These days, scandals of sons killing their fathers and mothers are not new. Especially since he's an adopted son, who would be so at ease?"

"Give this to me. I'll go find a doctor. You stay at home and protect Madam." Mingyue took the handkerchief she handed over and whispered, "Don't alarm Madam until the results are out. I've seen through it all. Madam is a blank slate, she knows nothing!"

"Madam, after all, is a daughter of a prominent family, yet she doesn't understand the intrigues of this household." Changpu sighed, her tone helpless. "No wonder the old lady sent you and me here. If you were left here alone, she'd be sold and have to count the money for others!"

"I'm leaving the house right now." Mingyue clenched the handkerchief in her hand, her eyes filled with frost. "If it's really as you and I think, the prince can't stay. I'll go find the master and get rid of him without anyone noticing."

Xie family

"He hasn't made a move yet?"

An Zhicheng looked at the filthy man in front of him, his eyes falling on the countless wounds, secretly shocked, "As expected of a barbarian from the northwest, he has a thick skin."

Xie Suzhou sat in a specially built secret room, with Sun Po holding a long whip beside him. He was dressed in plain clothes, with his long hair tied up. His simple clothes made him look noble and unworldly. He looked coldly at the man who refused to obey and said coldly, "Since he is so stubborn, I will break his teeth."

“Suzhou…Thank you Suzhou!”

Su Cheng's voice came from above. Sun Po and An Zhicheng watched as Doctor Xie, who had been calm and composed just a moment ago, suddenly became flustered. He looked around at himself and asked the other two to look behind him. "Is there any blood on me?"

Seeing the two of them shaking their heads in astonishment, Xie Suzhou breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly stood up and walked upwards, and replied in a soft voice, "Ah Cheng, I'm here."
