Chapter 222 Is there still a possibility

Chapter 222 Is there still a possibility

The clouds moved slowly, and the sun shone obliquely on the wooden sign engraved with the words "Tinggu Lane".

The alley is deep and not much sunlight can enter. You can't see the end of the alley from the beginning. There are more than a dozen families living in the alley, but it is very quiet and you can't even hear people talking.

Suddenly, the gate of the third courtyard trembled slightly, and then someone gently opened a crack.

A person leaned half of his body out and looked toward the alley entrance, his head and face wrapped in a veil, with only a pair of eyes exposed.

Seeing that there was no one at the entrance of the alley, she seemed to be relieved, squeezed out from the gap, and closed the door quietly.

"Where are we going?"

A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind him, and the man trembled and his shoulders drooped.

Su Cheng was wearing a shimmering green dress, her hair tied up with a silver magnolia hairpin. Her face, lightly powdered, was stern and cold. She slowly walked out of the shadows, walked around to the man, and said softly, "Princess, you don't look like you're going for a casual walk."

Rong Qing was caught red-handed, and with a somewhat embarrassed expression, he chuckled dryly, "How did you find the time to come here?"

Su Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at her with a half-smile, "If I hadn't come, I don't know where the princess would have sneaked off to."

Rong Qing's mouth drooped, feeling rather embarrassed. "I... I know you're worried about my safety, but Mo Yan is still suffering in Zuixian Tower..."

"I know it was wrong for me to sneak out," Rong Qing said angrily, pulling on the corner of her clothes and shaking them slightly. "Ah Cheng, good Ah Cheng, I just wanted to see him a few more times. I would never expose myself, and I would never put him in danger."

Su Cheng frowned slightly, hesitation flashing in his eyes, "But Miss Zhang specifically instructed that the princess is not allowed to go to Zuixianlou without permission. There might be spies in the dark."

Seeing that he couldn't convince her, Rong Qing slowly loosened his grip on her sleeve and lowered his head helplessly, "I understand."

Su Cheng couldn't help but feel pity for her when he saw her so dejected.

Rong Qing thought she had lost her love and almost became depressed. Now that she has met her old love again, she naturally wants to get to the bottom of it.

Su Cheng couldn't bear it, so he spoke tentatively, "Princess, if you really want to find out what happened back then, why don't you let me go through it for you?"

Rong Qing was stunned for a moment, then slowly raised his eyes and whispered, "You...are you really willing?"

"The prince is now a servant in Zuixian Tower, so it won't be difficult to see him." Su Cheng held her hand and persuaded her earnestly, "Princess, if you can promise me that you will stay in the courtyard and not go anywhere, I will go to Zuixian Tower for you and bring you an answer."

"Ah Cheng..." Rong Qing held her hand back, his eyes sincere, as if he was about to dig out his heart and show it to her, "I promise you, I will never set foot outside this yard. If you meet Mo Yan, please ask him for me if the love we had back then... still counts."

Meeting her tearful eyes, Su Cheng nodded slightly. She knew in her heart that the Prince of Wuping was Rongqing's only hope of survival.

Zuixianlou

"Sir, your orders of Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix, Glutinous Rice Duck, Braised Lamb... and Tofu are all here. Enjoy."

The waiter brought the dishes to the private room. The door was half open, and I happened to see a tall figure standing in the lobby wiping the tables.

"Wait." Seeing the waiter about to leave, Su Cheng called him back, pointing downstairs with her bare hands, and whispered, "Ask the masked servant in the lobby to come over and serve us."

The waiter was visibly stunned, but the distinguished guest was the king of the world, and he wouldn't dare to refuse even if he had ten guts. "Yes."

Cai Lian looked at the table full of delicious food, her eyes lit up, "Miss, what's the big day today?"

Su Cheng looked at her with a smile, and said, "This table of dishes is for you. You two girls have worked so hard to follow me, so this is a reward."

In the blink of an eye, Cai Lian sat down at the table and even picked up her chopsticks. "Young lady is really a fairy who has come down to earth. She is beautiful and kind-hearted!"

Su Cheng couldn't help laughing and winked at Qing Shuang who was standing beside him, indicating her to sit down and eat.

Compared to Cai Lian, Qing Shuang was much more reserved and sat down obediently next to Su Cheng.

In a moment, the door of the private room was pushed open again.

The man's tall body was blocking the door, with a black scarf covering his face and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, through which dark blue patterns could be vaguely seen.

Su Cheng glanced sideways, a dark flash in his eyes, and said lightly, "Wait inside the house."

The man paused and said in a hoarse voice, "Yes."

Su Cheng held a magnolia round fan in her hand, covering half of her face, her eyes lingering, subtly looking at the figure standing at the door.

"More tea."

Su Cheng drank up the tea in the cup and pushed the empty cup in front of the man.

The man lowered his head, walked slowly forward, picked up the teapot and was about to pour tea into the cup when he heard the girl next to him slowly speak.

"You have a good physique, so why are you confined to the small Zuixianlou and working as a handyman?"

The man paused, his long eyelashes trembling as he said in a deep voice, "I'm sorry, I have no comment."

Tea flowed out from the spout of the kettle. Su Cheng glanced at his arm and, while he was not paying attention, quickly pulled up his sleeve, revealing the word "Pure" engraved on his arm.

Yan Chun.

Rongqing.

The man's face changed drastically, and he accidentally knocked over the teapot. The precious porcelain pot fell to the ground and broke into several pieces. He seemed to be oblivious to the mess on the ground. He covered his arms to block the word "pure", and his eyes looking at Su Cheng gradually became sinister.

"The Marquis of Wuping." Su Cheng slowly stood up and looked at him with interest, his tone neither humble nor arrogant, "I have long heard of your great name."

"You——" Bai Moyan was stunned and subconsciously touched his waist.

Qing Shuang stood up before him, threw away his chopsticks, pulled out the dagger tied to his leg, and pointed the tip of the knife at his face.

Cai Lian also stood up and stretched out her arms to block Su Cheng.

The atmosphere in the room instantly became tense. Bai Moyan half-closed his eyes, his eyes seemed to be filled with poison, staring straight at Su Cheng who was protected by the maid behind him, "Who are you..."

"What you should be asking about is the person behind me." Su Cheng gently held Qing Shuang's hand, signaling her to calm down. "Someone asked me to ask the prince, does the love between childhood sweethearts still count?"

Hearing this, Bai Moyan's body froze. Looking at the petite figure in front of him, he vaguely guessed who she came for.

The hand on his waist fell down weakly. Bai Moyan pondered for a moment, unwilling to answer her question directly, and turned to leave.

"Have you made up your mind, Prince?"

Bai Moyan paused.

"If you just leave without saying a word, there will be no possibility for you and the princess."

As soon as the words fell, the private room fell into a strange silence. After a long while, the man sneered.

The laughter seemed helpless, but also self-deprecating.

"What do you think..." Bai Moyan turned around slowly, his eyes fell on Su Cheng. He raised his big hand with obvious blue veins, pulled off the black scarf covering his face, revealing his original appearance.

"Is there still a possibility between her and me?"
