Chapter 269: Everyone in Daqi Deserves to Die
"Lord Shanman, it's no use wasting time like this. Our people are terrified every day. Why don't you let me lead the troops to the other side of the river and fight those bastards!"
"Nonsense." The man slammed the crutch in his hand heavily on the ground. He closed his eyes and muttered something that others could not understand.
After a while, when he opened his eyes again, he seemed to have aged ten years.
"Master Shanman..."
The man lowered his head somewhat helplessly and said in a deep voice, "This battle is doomed to fail."
The confidant looked up in disbelief, his face filled with surprise. "How is that possible? They're blocked by the river and have run out of ammunition and food. As long as we seize the opportunity to pursue them——"
"Chao Yun, shut up!" The man glared at him fiercely and shouted, "Do you want to kill Suo Meng and Yun Ya?"
Chao Yun paused, then shut up, a hint of unwillingness flashing in his eyes.
"Kub, have you seen Yun Ya?" The woman beside him grasped the key point, rushed over, tugged at the man's sleeve, and asked loudly, "Is Yun Ya in trouble?"
Kubu lowered his head in frustration and sighed, "They've captured Suo Meng and Yun Ya and are heading towards the grassland."
The woman's legs went limp and she collapsed to the ground, "How could this be... Somon clearly said he would protect Yunya!" Kubu reached out to pull her up, but she beat him like crazy.
"It's all your fault! Why couldn't you have foreseen this day earlier?" The woman burst into tears. "If anything happens to Yun Ya, I will never forgive you!"

Across the river
"You said Kubu wanted to meet with me?" Dou Mingwei leaned back, squinting his eyes as he looked at the boy who had come to report the news. "Who is he to you?"
"It's me, Abu." The boy raised his chin, not intimidated even when facing Dou Mingwei, who was much bigger than him. "My Abu said, your people have kidnapped my sister. If you can release her, we are willing to retreat a hundred miles."
"Retreat a hundred miles?" Dou Mingwei lowered his eyes in deep thought, the emotion in his eyes was unpredictable.
Xie Ming stared at the boy, trying to find any clues from his young face. "Who kidnapped your sister?"
"I don't know." The boy shook his head honestly, his eyes sweeping over the two of them. "Who of you will go talk to my Abu?"
"I--"
"General, I'll go." Xie Ming responded first and winked at Dou Mingwei.
He was young, and if something happened to Dou Mingwei in the enemy camp, those soldiers might not listen to him.
Dou Mingwei was stunned for a moment, then understood his intention. He nodded slowly and instructed in a deep voice, "A Ming, go early and come back early."
Xie Ming nodded slightly, his eyes fixed on the boy, "Lead the way."
"Let's go." The boy raised the corner of his mouth slightly, and a dark light flashed in his eyes.
After leaving the tent, the boy climbed onto his horse and raised his chin towards Xie Ming, who was following behind him. "Daqi people, you better follow closely. If you get lost and get eaten by wild wolves at night, there will be no one to collect your body."
After saying this, the boy swung the reins hard and rushed into the distance.
About three quarters of an hour later, seeing that Xie Ming was still chasing him closely, the boy curled his lips, cursed inwardly that it was boring, and turned back to Kubu's tent.
"Are you finally willing to stop going around in circles?" Xie Ming curled his lips, with contempt in his eyes.
The boy glared at him and snorted heavily.
"Abu! I brought it back to the Daqi people!" The tent was right in front of them. The boy shouted inside and then rode away.
Hearing the sound outside, Kubu lifted the heavy curtain, and a cloud of dust rose up. When the dust settled, he could see the man on horseback clearly.
The black horse raised its head and neighed loudly, with its two front hooves raised high. The man on the horse swung the spear in his hand and stabbed the tip of the spear straight at Kubu's neck, but it stopped just an inch away.
Kubu's body shook violently. The soldiers on both sides saw that something was wrong and were about to surround him, but he shouted, "Don't move! Don't move!"
The Northwestern soldiers all stopped and even though they were sweating profusely, they did not dare to move forward.
Kubu raised his hands high, looked up at the man, and said in a deep voice, "Since this general dared to come to the enemy camp alone, he must be thinking of reconciliation. All of you retreat! No one is allowed to make any move."
"Are you the legendary Shan Man?" Xie Ming stared at him with interest, a sneer on his lips. "With Somon away, you've become the one in charge?"
"May I ask your name, General?" Kubu held his hand high to prove he meant no harm. "These past few days, our Northwest soldiers have only been guarding the riverbank and haven't crossed the line. Please dismount, General, so we can have a good chat. If you doubt my trust, I'm willing to follow you to the riverbank."
"Chat?" Xie Ming curled his lips, "What do you want to talk about?"
Kubu calmed himself down and said sincerely, "War is always harmful to everyone. Now that my daughter is in your hands, I naturally want to negotiate peace."
"Now you know that war is harmful and has no benefits?" Xie Ming lifted his chin with the tip of his gun and asked with a raised eyebrow, "Then what were you planning for eight years during the signing of the peace treaty?"
"Don't push your luck!"
"Chao Yun! Do you want to kill us?"
Seeing that his confidant was about to lose his temper again, Kubu became completely annoyed and shouted, "If you want to live, shut up!"
Chao Yun was unwilling to give in. "Lord Shanman, he is clearly here to provoke—"
"Shut up, shut up!" Kubu closed his eyes, feeling exhausted. "Young General, I admit that the Khan's previous actions were unjust. As long as you agree to withdraw our troops and prevent further casualties on both sides, we are willing to retreat a hundred miles, which is equivalent to giving up an entire city."
"Withdraw your troops and give up the city. Are you just doing this to get your daughter back?" Xie Ming looked suspicious and spoke in a bad tone. "How can I trust you with nothing but empty words?"
"I am willing to sign the document. I only ask that the young general keep his word." Kubu held up three fingers and swore to the sky, "Let my daughter and the young Khan return home safely."
It's a losing game anyway, so it's better to save Somon and Yunya.
Xie Ming put away his gun, dismounted, and met his gaze. "Now that I have the written agreement, I will negotiate with General Dou to withdraw our troops. Move quickly. If I can't return to camp safely within an hour, General Dou will raze this place to the ground."
Although he didn't know what happened in the capital, nor did he know how Kubu got the news, but since the pie fell from the sky, why wouldn't he take it?
Solving the problem of food and grass without spending any soldiers is naturally a good thing.
"Okay, I'll write it right away." Kubu extended his hand towards the battalion commander. "Young General, follow me. Wait a moment. I'll have you back within an hour."
Seeing the two of them walking into the tent side by side, anger flashed in Chao Yun's eyes. Before anyone could react, he drew his sword and stabbed Xie Ming in the back, "Everyone in Daqi deserves to die!"
