Chapter 30 Xie Laosan has a nosebleed
Xie Jinyu looked unhappy and hesitated to speak.
"What's wrong with me?" Xie Suzhou raised his eyes, and his slightly pursed lips revealed his nervousness.
"Nothing." Xie Jinyu lowered her eyes, not revealing what had just happened. "I saw sweat on your forehead and you were mumbling. It must be a nightmare."
"Nightmare?" Xie Suzhou's blush faded, and he looked a little pale. "Am I talking nonsense?"
"……No."
Xie Suzhou finally breathed a sigh of relief, a look of relief flashing in his eyes. "I'm relieved that you're awake. I have something else to do, so I'll go back to the study first."
"Hey, second brother..."
Xie Suzhou seemed not to hear his brother's pleas to stay. He strode out of the house and when he reached the courtyard, his eyes unconsciously glanced towards the west room. The candlelight in the room flickered, and the light shone on the window paper as thin as a cicada's wing, and he could vaguely see the screen that blocked the beauty's view.
The scene behind the screen is probably the same as in the dream...
Realizing that his thoughts were drifting further and further away, Xie Suzhou shook his head violently, trying to put the springtime scene in his dream behind him. The embarrassment on his face made him walk much faster.
In the east room behind him, Xie Jinyu stood alone in front of the window, with his hands hanging down, a solemn expression on his sickly and pale face.
The candlelight cast a long shadow on the ground. Xie Jinyu's brows were stained with sorrow, and her thin lips parted slightly, "Uncle Yue's widowed sister-in-law, how dare I..."
"Third Uncle!"
Suddenly, a little girl's voice was heard outside the window. Xie Jinyu, who was immersed in his own world, was suddenly brought back to his senses. He shuddered and looked down. Xie Cuicui was standing by the window, looking up at him.
Perhaps he was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't even notice the little girl's footsteps.
"You, you." Xie Jinyu leaned over and gently pinched her nose. "You naughty girl, aren't you afraid that Third Uncle will scare you to death?"
"How could Third Uncle be so cowardly?" Xie Cuicui turned her head to look at the lighted west room, her face wrinkled. "Mom has been washing for a long time, but she hasn't finished yet. I knocked on the door just now, but no one answered."
"No one answered?" Xie Jinyu frowned, feeling something was wrong. "How long has she been washing?"
Xie Cuicui recalled and whispered, "It's almost half an hour."
"It took you so long... why did you just tell me?" Xie Jinyu's face turned pale and she hurried out of the house. "Where are Mr. Du and Ah Ming? Where's your brother?"
"Fifteen minutes ago, Fourth Uncle said he wanted to go check on the fields. For some reason, the soil where the seeds were buried has been constantly being dug up these past few days. Grandpa Du said he wanted to help digest his food, so Brother went along." Seeing him so flustered, Xie Cuicui's face turned pale. "Third Uncle, could something have happened to my mother?"
"So, we're the only two people at home right now?" Xie Jinyu's face was unusually grim. Fearing she might frighten the child, she could only offer words of comfort. "Don't be afraid. Let me take a look first."
The two of them walked to the door of the west room. Xie Jinyu raised her hand and knocked on the door. Her voice was a little louder than usual, "Sister-in-law?"
The room was completely silent, with only the flickering candlelight responding to him.
"Sister-in-law...Su Cheng!"
Xie Jinyu's knocks on the door became louder and louder, but no one from inside responded.
"Mom! Mom, what's wrong with you?" Xie Cuicui lay on the door panel and shouted into the gap, "Mom!"
Xie Jinyu's face turned pale, and a chill spread from the soles of her feet to the top of her head. "I'll go to the next yard and call Aunt Liu."
"Uncle San, it's too late! Aunt Liu took her children back to her parents' home to visit relatives at noon today. Only Uncle Liu is next door!" Xie Cuicui was scared and cried, and kept knocking on the door.
Xie Jinyu froze in place. The next moment, he said "I'm sorry" and used his body to force open the door of the west room.
The door panel bounced hard against the wall. The room was not big to begin with, and the impact knocked down the screen.
Su Cheng's eyes were tightly closed, her head tilted back slightly, her long, dark hair spread out on the water, blocking most of her sunlight. Water droplets were still hanging on her cheeks, and her arms, which were resting on the edge of the bucket, were covered with scars. Her hands hung limply, as if she was asleep.
Seeing the scene in front of him, Xie Jinyu's breath was choked, and he subconsciously reached out to cover Xie Cuicui's eyes.
"Uncle San, I'm a girl."
Xie Jinyu suddenly pulled his hand back as if waking from a dream, and hurriedly turned his back. His handsome face suddenly became hot. "Go...see how she is."
"Mom? Mom, wake up!" Xie Cuicui shook her arm, but found that Su Cheng's body was limp and he had lost consciousness long ago. "Uncle San, my mother fainted!"
Xie Jinyu's body stiffened. The situation was serious and the woman's condition did not allow him to hesitate.
In desperation, Xie Jinyu pulled off the loose ribbon tied at the end of her hair, covered her eyes with it, and tied a knot behind her head.
Although his view was blocked, the west room was small and had no more than five pieces of furniture or decorations. He could find the bathtub by just groping around.
Xie Cuicui hurriedly pulled off the coarse linen hanging nearby and wrapped her mother's soft body in it. "Uncle San, quickly carry my mother to the bed. I'll go out and look for Grandpa Du!"
After saying that, she greased her feet and ran as fast as she could.
"Cui Cui...this stinky girl!"
This was the first time in Xie Jinyu's life that he encountered such a difficult situation. He was not even afraid of death, but he did not dare to act rashly on this matter.
"This is against the rules..." Just as Xie Jinyu was about to back out, her usual smiling face emerged in her mind. She made up her mind and dipped her fingertips into the water, causing ripples.
Although wrapped in linen, Xie Jinyu was still sweating profusely.
When vision is blocked, other senses will be infinitely magnified.
When his palm felt the woman's soft body, Xie Jinyu almost fainted.
The unconscious Su Cheng seemed boneless, with his face buried in his neck. His weak breath gently fell on his neck, causing him to tremble.
After finally carrying her to the bed, Xie Jinyu fumbled to lift the quilt and touched the woman's calves several times. The tips of his ears turned red as if they were about to bleed.
Thinking that Su Cheng had covered herself with the quilt, Xie Jinyu untied the band covering her eyes, slowly raised her eyes, and suddenly saw her pink shoulders and half-exposed chest.
Xie Jinyu's mind was in a mess. Before she could react, her hands had subconsciously pulled the corner of the quilt for her.
Immediately, a warm feeling surged to the tip of my nose.
Xie Jinyu glanced down as her fingertips slid across her philtrum, muttering, "My nose is bleeding..."
The next moment, his vision went dark and he fell uncontrollably onto Su Cheng's bed, instantly losing consciousness.
This was the scene Xie Ming and Du Heng saw when they rushed back.
Su Cheng was wrapped tightly, with only her two hands exposed. Xie Jinyu was mostly wet and half-pressed on her, unconscious, with her big hand still covering her small hands.
"This... Cui'er, go and lock the door!" Du Heng slapped his thigh in anger. "This sickly little girl usually looks so weak and gentle, how could she have such evil thoughts!"
Seeing the two people sticking together, Xie Ming's face turned pale. He strode to the bedside, grabbed Xie Jinyu with one hand, and did not forget to lower the bed curtain to cover Su Cheng inside.
Xie Ming's actions were not gentle at all. Xie Jinyu woke up slowly and opened her eyes to see her fourth brother's extremely dark face.
"Third brother, how could you do such a vile thing!" Xie Mingjun's face flushed red, and his hands, clutching Xie Jinyu's collar, were shaking. "This is so unjust, are you worthy of your dead eldest brother?"
