Chapter 36: The thief is brought to the court
Uncle Liu came up with a hoe in hand. He saw the two men in the moonlight and was immediately shocked. "Village Chief, why is it you?"
"Old Liu?" Village Chief Chen's face suddenly turned extremely ugly when he saw that there were others. He turned his head to look at Su Cheng, his eyes seemed to be filled with poison, "You vicious woman came here prepared, and you planned to harm me!"
As the last word fell, a cold light flashed, and Village Chief Chen subconsciously dodged backwards, and the tip of the gun passed by his neck.
"Old man!" The old woman beside him was almost frightened. She didn't care about herself and hurriedly crawled to his side. "Old man, are you okay?"
Village Chief Chen's body stiffened, and he felt something like water sliding into his collar. He raised his hand to wipe it away, and a bloody smell instantly rushed into his nose.
The old woman screamed, "Blood! Blood!"
Village Chief Chen finally came to his senses and looked up in a daze, his eyes filled with fear. "Xie Si! How dare you hurt someone?"
"It's just a superficial wound, you old bastard, yet you think you're precious." Xie Ming's eyes were cold, and the tip of his spear was pointed directly at his concubine. "How should I talk to my sister-in-law? I can use this spear to teach you."
Su Cheng still had a faint smile on his face. He looked harmless and ignored Xie Ming's actions. He slowly played with the hair by his ear and said, "Village Chief Chen has a face as thick as a city wall. He's clearly unkind and unjust, but he's blaming me for it?"
"Village chief, you're already old, and you watched the three Xie brothers grow up. Why would you do such a thing?" Uncle Liu's face flushed with anger, and he shook his head and sighed, "Besides, our village doesn't pay enough taxes every year, and you're digging up your own people's fields. What's your intention?"
"That's enough!" Village Chief Chen propped himself up and stood up, his face grim. "Did you see me digging the ground with your own eyes? You're just empty-mouthed and slandering me. Be careful or I'll sue you in court!"
"I thought you were a smart old man, but you're actually worse than my five-year-old child." Su Cheng sneered, slowly stood up, and spoke slowly, "Have you forgotten how respectful the three officers were to us when they arrested Sun Panpan that day?"
Village Chief Chen's face changed slightly. He felt regretful, but he was unwilling to lose. "So what? Su Cheng, you keep saying that I'm harming you. Do you have any evidence? Look, the evidence of Xie Si's assault is right around my neck!"
"Village chief, how could you be so shameless?" Uncle Liu shouted in shock. "Am I not considered a witness? You two old men were wandering the fields with hoes in the dead of night, and you chose to stop here. If you weren't here to cause trouble, could you be here on patrol?"
Village Chief Chen snorted coldly, as if he was about to give up. "You are on the same side, so naturally you will side with the Xie family."
"Village Chief Chen, you are a little too confident." Su Cheng pursed her lips and chuckled, but there was no smile in her eyes. "See you at the government office tomorrow morning."
"Hmph, you're such a ruthless person..." Village Chief Chen glanced at Xie Ming who was standing behind her and changed the subject, "If you can't produce any other evidence, what can you do to me?"
"Who said I was going to sue you for ruining my family's farmland?" Su Cheng curled his lips, a cunning flash in his eyes, "Since I'm going to sue you, I'm going to sue you until there's no chance of you turning over."
Village Chief Chen sneered and was about to make a sarcastic remark when he saw the woman opposite him slowly speak.
"Sun Panpan kidnapped her own child. Even in the face of the facts, you insisted on defending her. How much did you gain?" Su Cheng glanced at the jade pendant on the old woman's earlobe, which was faintly glowing, and said softly, "You can certainly refute it, but the figures on the account, the jade pendant on Aunt Chen's ear, and the money hidden under your shoe can't deceive anyone."
"You...what's wrong with you..." Village Chief Chen's face changed drastically, and even the old woman next to him gasped.
Xie Ming lowered his eyes and kicked Village Chief Chen in the heart. He fell on his back and turned around to spit out a mouthful of blood.
"Old man!" The old woman was so frightened that she was trembling all over. She wanted to throw herself to her man, but Xie Si was standing there and she didn't dare to move.
Only then did Village Chief Chen become truly frightened. He shrank back, muttering, "Xie Ming...you...what are you going to do!"
Xie Ming ignored him, but bent down and pulled off his shoes. Turning them over, he saw that there was a gap in the sole, with a thumb-sized piece of silver stuffed inside.
"How dare you." Xie Ming pulled the corner of his lip, his eyes sharp. He turned around and used the tip of his gun to pick up the old woman's earrings. His voice was low and hoarse, "You bought this with my nephew's life, are you wearing it safely?"
"I don't know... I really don't know!" The old woman's body softened and she fell to the ground, her voice choking with sobs. "Silang, your uncle and aunt have watched you grow up. We all live in the same village and are neighbors. Please have mercy on us and let us go. You can't report this to the authorities!"
"It seems that the Song Gang incident didn't teach you to be honest. You're his aunt, but have you ever thought about revenge for your nephew?" Su Cheng smiled with a relaxed expression. "My Erlang said that your only son works as a bookkeeper at a restaurant in town, and your daughter-in-law is five months pregnant."
"How dare you!" Village Chief Chen glared at Su Cheng fiercely, "I was the only one who took the money. It has nothing to do with my son!"
"The deep love between father and son is truly touching." Su Cheng pursed his lips, a hint of cruelty in his smile, "Who will care about my son? Ah Ming, tie them both up and take them back. Send them to the government tomorrow morning."
Xie Ming looked at her deeply, and a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Okay."
When we returned to Xie's house, it was already dawn.
Xie Cuicui was tiptoeing to put food on the table when she heard the noise and turned around. "Mom, Fourth Uncle, why... did you come back with someone tied up?"
"Village Chief Chen, what a rare visitor!" Xie Jinyu, lightly dressed, was leaning against the doorway, holding apricot preserves in her hand, watching with interest. "What gloomy wind has brought you here?"
"They accepted Sun Panpan's money and helped to cover up. When they failed to cause trouble, they also destroyed our land." Xie Ming held one in each hand with an indifferent expression. "In an hour, I will drag them to see the authorities."
"So you were the ones who dug up my land?" Xie Jinyu raised her lips slightly, stuffed a candied fruit into her mouth, and said casually, "Sun Panpan has been abandoned by the Gao family. She can't escape five years in prison. You took her money, so you are considered accomplices. You two can count your days in prison."
"Bah!" Village Chief Chen spat on the ground. His hypocrisy was gone, leaving only viciousness. "Don't be too happy too soon. You've married such a trouble-making woman. You won't have a peaceful life in the future. Just wait..."
Before he could finish his words, Xie Ming kicked him from behind.
Xie Ming stepped on him, his eyes piercing and cold, "You're looking for death."
"He's just a clown, why bother paying attention to him?" Su Cheng stopped him and chuckled, "After all, right now, he can't do anything except mutter a few words."
Su Cheng raised his eyes to the sky and whispered, "Keep an eye on them. I'm going to the study hall."

Laoyun Book Hall
The morning breeze was cool, the air was filled with the aroma of firewood, and from time to time there were the hearty laughter of farmers. The closer you got to the study, the clearer the sound of reading became.
Su Cheng took off her dirty green jacket and changed into a moon-white long skirt. The style was simple, but she managed to wear it in a different style, attracting people to look back frequently. On her arm hung a bamboo basket, in which was a lunch box for Xie Suzhou wrapped in clothes. She walked from a distance, smiling and nodding at everyone she saw.
"Sister Su, why are you here so early?" Gao Wei, who was leaning against the window, saw the woman and his eyes suddenly lit up. "What are we having for lunch today?"
Su Cheng found it a little funny, so he walked lightly to him and said jokingly, "Aren't you afraid that your teacher will punish you for not studying hard?"
Gao Wei scratched his head and chuckled, "The Master hasn't come out yet. I wonder where he's hiding."
"Why haven't you come out yet at this hour?" Su Cheng's face flashed with suspicion. He patted Gao Wei's shoulder and coaxed him softly, "Study hard. I'll go find your teacher."
Su Cheng walked around the study, passed through the corridor, and went to the backyard. He saw a figure standing outside the small door from a distance.
"Su..." She was about to speak when she saw a girl standing next to Xie Suzhou.
