Chapter 45 All is Mess
Xie Ming looked at her frail body, his brows furrowed even tighter as he said with disapproval, "Sister-in-law..."
"You've been interrogating me for a long time, but you still can't get anything out of me?" Su Cheng looked at him with a smile, his tone gentle, "Don't worry, I have you by my side, and he's tied up, so he can't touch me."
Xie Ming wanted to insist, but when he saw her smiling eyes, he had no choice but to give way and stood beside her with his spear in hand.
"Hey, a new little girl has come over?" Cui Yongqiang opened one eye and sneered when he saw Su Cheng. "I'm fearless, so how can I be tricked by a little girl like you?"
"Don't worry, I will never force a confession." Su Cheng brought a small stool and sat in the shade, holding a teacup in his hand, taking a sip from time to time, and discussing with Xie Ming beside him what style of courtyard gate to replace.
Although Xie Ming didn't know what his sister-in-law's intention was, he still had some common sense and didn't dare to speak carelessly.
The sun was getting hotter and hotter. Su Cheng leaned against the courtyard wall and closed his eyes to take a nap, holding a palm-leaf fan in his hand and drinking the cold tea in the cup again and again, looking like he was living a peaceful life.
Cui Yong hadn't had a drop of water the entire day, and the sun was shining on his body, causing him to feel a burning pain and a bit of itchiness. However, his hands and feet were tied up with hemp ropes, so he couldn't move and didn't even have the right to cry out in pain.
He knew that the girl was using psychological tactics, so he simply bit the tender flesh in his mouth and used the blood to moisten his throat.
Su Cheng looked at his actions, a look of surprise flashed across his face, and he murmured, "What a man."
Cui Yong grinned, his face was covered in skin and flesh, his mouth was blood red, and he looked horrifying. "Little girl, if you want to mess with my mind, you should consider your own weight. Otherwise, if you come over and give me a good time, I might confess everything."
"You're looking for death!"
"Uncle, there's no need to argue with him." Su Cheng stopped Xie Ming from charging forward, looked at Cui Yong with a half-smile, and said softly, "You're used to living on the edge of a knife, so naturally you're not afraid of the government's harsh punishment. At most, you'll just die. But those old, weak, women, and children in Tushan can't handle it, right?"
Cui Yong froze, "How do you know I'm from Tushan?"
"Of course I guessed it." Su Cheng shrugged, a cunning look in his eyes. "I just mentioned a nearby hill, and I didn't expect you to guess it right."
"You!" Cui Yong was stunned for a moment before reacting. He lay on the ground and struggled violently, wishing he could skin Su Cheng alive. "You bitch, how dare you play tricks on me!"
"If you keep getting so excited, the last piece of skin on your face will fall off. It won't be a pretty sight when you die." Su Cheng smiled and took a sip of tea, his face light. "Who leaked that our family sent you here again?"
Cui Yong gritted his teeth and said angrily, "Bitch, aren't you very good at guessing? Don't think I'll fall for your tricks!"
Su Cheng curled her lips at him and smiled brightly, making her already bright face even more charming. She parted her pink lips and said something that made Cui Yong feel as if he was falling into an icy cave.
"Guess your name." Su Cheng leaned lazily against the wall and said nonchalantly, "Everyone knows which mountain you are from, why are you still bothering to guess? Uncle, tell the officers and soldiers outside to bring more people and attack Tushan at night. Don't let anyone go."
"How dare you!" Cui Yong's eyes widened, blood oozing from the corners of his mouth. His eyes were filled with resentment. "If you want to kill me, come at me! Why are you bullying a child and a woman?"
"I'm tired and don't want to waste time talking to you." Su Cheng stood up and looked at him with a playful look in his eyes. "If you had confessed earlier, maybe you could have saved their lives."
"Stop! Don't touch them!" Seeing Xie Ming about to walk out, Cui Yong suddenly panicked and shouted, "Zhou Beibei...that's Zhou Beibei from your village!"
Su Cheng paused, turned around slowly, and a serious expression flashed across his face, "Zhou Beibei?"
"It was her! She came to Tushan and said that Song Gang was killed by you and asked me to avenge him." Cui Yong didn't dare to lie now and told him everything. "Zhou Beibei also said that she would only feel at ease if your Xie family was destroyed. If not, why would I, living so deep in Tushan, rob any other village? Why did I have to rob Xinghua Village, which is close to the town?"
"Zhou Beibei also said that there were only three men and a whore in your family. I believed her lies and came here..." Cui Yong turned towards Su Cheng with a pleading look on his face, "I've confessed everything. I accept the punishment and plead guilty. Please, don't touch the people on the mountain. My wife is still six months pregnant..."
"Then you still dare to rob food and houses, aren't you afraid that the sin will fall on the child?" Xie Ming curled his lips coldly, without looking at him again, turned and walked out of the yard to look for the officers and soldiers outside.
Su Cheng frowned and murmured softly, "Zhou Beibei...how could it be her?"
This is completely different from what is written in the book. Xie Jinyu, one of the male protagonists, wants to kill the female protagonist, and Zhou Beibei, the female protagonist, seeks out bandits to wipe out the entire Xie family.
Shouldn't we be talking about love?
How did it turn into a gang fight!
Su Cheng closed his eyes, a look of unremovable sorrow on his face. "It's a mess, it's all a mess!"
The originally peaceful and stable Xinghua Village was completely looted. Except for the Xie and Liu families at the end of the village, almost everyone was robbed. The whole village was shrouded in crying.
Du Heng finally couldn't sit still anymore, so he covered half of his face and went outside to save people. The two little kids, Xie Chen and Xie Cuicui, followed him around, running around, and they didn't dare to stop even though they were sweating profusely.
Xie Ming set out with the officials, climbed Tushan Mountain, and captured the remaining bandits.
Su Cheng sat in the yard, staring at the broken door in a daze.
"These bandits are all extremely vicious. The old, weak, women and children on the mountain are not innocent people either. They use the silver they robbed and eat blood-stained food. Capturing them is the only way to give an explanation to those who died."
Su Cheng suddenly turned around and met the eyes of Xie Jinyu, who was wearing a white robe behind him.
Xie Jinyu smiled gently, leaned over, raised her hand and smoothed her brow, "They are just a bunch of damned people, why should sister-in-law worry about them?"
"I'm not thinking about the people from Tushan." Su Cheng pushed his hand away, looking unhappy. "Cuicui just came back and said that Zhou Beibei ran away, leaving only her father behind. Zhou Kai was unaware of his daughter's actions and even had his arm chopped off by bandits while escaping. She has changed so much that she doesn't even care about her own father. I'm afraid she will be a disaster in the future."
Xie Jinyu nodded and remained silent, not knowing what she was thinking.
As night fell, two carriages staggered into Xinghua Village on an unnoticed path.
The next morning, Aunt Liu was busy working in her own fields. When she looked up, she saw Xie Suzhou again. "Hey, Mr. Xie, are you going home again?"
Xie Suzhou was walking on a path beside the fields, holding a fat grass carp in his hand. He looked in the direction of the sound and saw Aunt Liu. He nodded politely and said, "I got a fish from the library. I'm sending it to my sister-in-law."
Aunt Liu nodded repeatedly and then said, "Another carriage has arrived at your house. It's so early in the morning, and I didn't see clearly who is inside. You should go back and take a look."
Xie Suzhou thanked him in a low voice, quickened his pace, and hurried back home.
The Xie family had changed the gate, but the lock was left unchanged. The new door still smelled of wood. Uncle Liu had asked a carpenter from another village for help last night. A carriage was parked outside the gate, and the finish was a style Xie Suzhou had never seen before.
"It's not Mr. Yan's carriage, nor is it from the Wang family." Xie Suzhou frowned slightly, looking confused. "Who would come to our house at this time?"
"Sister-in-law, I brought it..." Xie Suzhou pushed open the door and saw the man looking around in the yard, his hand holding the fish frozen in mid-air.
His eyes fell on that familiar face, and Xie Suzhou's body seemed to be frozen, "Brother..."
