Chapter 99 The One Who Takes Your Life

Chapter 99 The One Who Takes Your Life

"Sister-in-law, is that the Zhou Beibei you mentioned?"

Deputy General Peng Yun was hiding at the entrance of the alley. When he saw someone coming out of Pang's corner gate, he hurriedly called the woman behind him.

Su Cheng took a quick look and saw that the woman not far away was dressed in gorgeous clothes and had pearls and jade on her head, but her rusticity in her bones could not be concealed. She had a hunched back and lowered head, and she looked petty and had wasted all the good things on her body.

"It's her, for sure." Su Cheng nodded, his eyes following her closely. "Keep your eyes on her. Since Aunt Liu can run into her on the street, it means she goes out often. She's probably going to see her father."

"Why don't I stab her with my sword? It will be more satisfying!" Peng Yun was eager to try. His hand had already reached for the hilt of the knife. He just waited for his sister-in-law to nod, and then he would rush forward to kill her.

"No rush. She does deserve to die, but now is not the time." Su Cheng shook his head and said with a look of disapproval, "As long as I know her next move, that's enough."

What does it matter if you die at the hands of someone else?

Zhou Beibei hated me so much, and it would be the most heartbreaking if I let her die in my hands.

"Okay, I'll listen to my sister-in-law." Peng Yun readily agreed and led his two brothers to follow Zhou Beibei.

Su Cheng leaned against the wall, a slight curve at the corner of his lips, completely unaware that he was also exposed to other people's sight.

"Your Majesty, Su Cheng is right there."

Mo Wei stared at the beautiful figure downstairs, his fists clenched so hard that they made a crackling sound.

He hated her so much that he just wanted to tear the bitch in front of him into pieces and avenge his brother.

Huo Beiting lowered his eyes, and when his gaze met that figure, the murderous intent in his eyes disappeared in an instant. "Mo Wei, did you see clearly the man standing next to her?"

Mo Wei was puzzled and shook his head silently. He was immersed in hatred and only looked at Su Cheng, not paying attention to others.

"That man just now..." Huo Beiting narrowed his eyes slightly, a dangerous look flashing in his eyes, "He looks very much like Peng Yun, the deputy general beside Dou Mingwei."

"Peng... Yun?" Mo Wei's expression changed instantly, and he quickly asked, "Your Highness, do you want me to follow you?"

Huo Beiting nodded and whispered, "Go ahead, I'll take care of Su Cheng myself."

"yes."

Two sides of the story

Someone pushed open the small door of the last courtyard in Beilou Lane.

Zhou Beibei looked towards the entrance of the alley vigilantly, and only squeezed into the yard after making sure that there was no one behind her.

The people in the yard looked in the direction of the sound and were relieved when they saw that it was her.

"father!"

When Zhou Beibei saw him, her eyes instantly turned red, and she quickly threw herself into his arms and cried, "Dad, I really miss you!"

"Beibei, my dear daughter..." Zhou Kai's eyes were red as he hugged her tightly with one hand, "You have suffered."

When bandits robbed the village, he cut off one of his arms in order to survive. He thought he would die alone in the village, but he never expected that his daughter would rescue him.

"Dad, about that bandit incident...I was reckless." Zhou Beibei raised her little face, tears hanging on her eyelashes. "I wanted the Xie family to die, but I didn't expect it would hurt you."

Zhou Kai truly loved his daughter, so naturally he wouldn't have the heart to blame her. "It's not your fault. If you want to blame someone, you can only blame those beasts in the Xie family. It's all their fault. They killed my daughter."

Zhou Beibei buried her head in his arms, crying inconsolably, her exposed arms covered with bruises and purple scars.

"Beibei, who is the background of that noble man you're following?" Zhou Kai's face turned pale when he saw her injuries. "If it really doesn't work out... just follow Dad. I only have one arm left, but I can still take pulses. Let's find a safe place. I'll support you, and you can find someone to marry, okay?"

"No!" Zhou Beibei refused without a second thought. When she thought of Su Cheng, hatred filled her eyes. "Why should we leave the place where we grew up? And that bitch Su Cheng is able to live freely? I won't accept it! I won't accept it!"

"Evildoers will be punished by heaven, why bother with her?" Zhou Kai looked at her with a distressed look on his face, and tried to persuade her earnestly, "You are covered in injuries... We have no money or power, and the nobles only treat you as a plaything, not sincerely. For the sake of the Xie family, you have sacrificed most of your life. Is it worth it?"

"It's worth it!" Zhou Beibei's eyes had been blinded by hatred, and now she couldn't care less about anything else. "Dad, I've made my choice. Now that I've come this far, I won't look back!"

"Beibei..."

"Dad, I've made up my mind." Zhou Beibei took two steps back, looked at him deeply, and took out a heavy purse and placed it on the table. "This is my filial piety money. Feel free to buy anything you want. I will definitely come to see you often."

"Beibei...Beibei!"

No matter how Zhou Kai called out, the figure never turned back.

"Oh, silly child..." Zhou Kai picked up the purse, a tear falling from the corner of his eye, "Su Cheng, that bitch! She has brought my father and I to this state. She deserves to die!"

The next moment, three tall and burly figures fell from the sky, and their shadows on the ground looked like three small hills.

Zhou Kai slowly raised his head, and saw three extremely unfamiliar faces. He was so frightened that he sat down on the ground, "You... who are you?"

"The one who took your life."

Seeing his cowardly look, Peng Yun sneered and slashed at Zhou Kai with a knife, and Zhou Kai lost consciousness.

Ganping Market

"How much is this paperweight?"

"Madam, you have good taste. This pair of paperweights is made of rosewood. They are very prestigious whether you use them yourself or give them as gifts."

The shopkeeper's face was almost broken with laughter. He had thought that Su Cheng, who was dressed simply, had little money in her pocket, but who would have thought that this young lady would ask for a whole set of pens, ink, paper and inkstone at once, and now she was looking at the paperweight. It was obvious that she could make a lot of money this time.

"Madam, since you are so forthright, I can't be vague. I would rather sell it to you even if I lose money." The shopkeeper took out an abacus, fiddled with it for a few times, and then handed it to Su Cheng, "Just give me this amount."

Su Cheng glanced at him, then looked at the abacus in his hand, raised his lips and smiled, "Shopkeeper, don't treat me as someone who doesn't know the value of things. This pair of paperweights is indeed good stuff, but it's not worth the price. If you are not honest, I will go next door."

"Madam, we have something to discuss." Upon hearing this, the shopkeeper broke out in a cold sweat and put on a flattering smile. "Madam, you have taken so many things, so don't go to other places."

While bargaining, a figure flashed past the shop.

The smile on Su Cheng's lips faded a little, and he looked away, not even paying attention to what the shopkeeper said.

"Eight hundred wen, Madam, do you think that's feasible?"

Su Cheng had a bad feeling in his heart. He looked back at the shopkeeper and gave him the money without saying a word. "Pack it up."

"Okay!" The shopkeeper quickly packed up and smiled.

Su Cheng was carrying bags in her hands and walking towards the carriage. Now that she had money, she was not willing to suffer any hardship. A horse carriage saved half the effort compared to an ox cart.

But in the blink of an eye, a dart shot from behind her.
