Chapter 3

Chang Qingfeng obviously didn't expect that someone would actually open the zombie cage. He was stunned for a moment, but then he reacted and immediately tried to pull the sword out of Eve.

How could Eve let him succeed?

She instead held the Qingfeng Sword with both hands, and actively pressed the sword into her body, with a faint smile on her lips, and her bright eyes looking at Changqingfeng.

"I'll teach you," she whispered, her voice sweet as the finest honey, yet laced with venom. "It's no use stabbing the shoulder—if you're going to kill, you should aim for the heart from the start."

"Here," she stretched out her bloody finger and tapped her chest, "Pierce here. I won't even have a chance to resist, and you'll achieve your goal."

As she exerted force, Chang Qingfeng could feel the Qingfeng sword breaking through Eve's flesh bit by bit, and blood flowed out.

Her shoulder had already been bitten by a zombie, and now the new wound was superimposed on the old one, which should have made it even more painful. However, the girl in front of her still had a sweet smile.

A hint of surprise finally showed in Chang Qingfeng's calm eyes.

He put away his contemptuous attitude, exerted all his strength, and pushed hard, and Eve was thrown out.

At the same time, there was a loud "clang" sound, and the zombies broke out of the cage and surrounded Chang Qingfeng in an instant!

Even an S-level supernatural expert like Chang Qingfeng couldn't help but curse inwardly. He raised the Qingfeng Sword and had to fight with the zombies again.

On the other hand, a zombie rushed over to Eve a second before she hit the ground and caught her falling body steadily. Eve grabbed its neck and said briefly, "Let's go."

The zombie understood her intention and immediately left the people behind and ran quickly to the ground.

But halfway through the run, Eve suddenly changed her mind. She signaled the zombie to stop and said, "Find a room to go into."

After being controlled by her, the zombie became the most loyal servant. Without saying a word, it took Eve into an empty room.

As soon as she entered the house, Eve quickly took off her clothes, wrapped the zombie's tattered strips of cloth around its body, asked it to change into her own clothes, and finally put on a cloak for it.

The zombie's body shape is similar to Eve's, and with the hood on, it is almost impossible to tell who is who.

Eve untied the cloth strips on her shoulders and used a knife to cut a few times on the zombie's shoulders in the same place. She bandaged it and said, "Escape on your own. Make as much noise as possible, but try not to get caught."

The zombie nodded as if he understood, then lowered his body and slipped out silently like a loach.

Eve closed the door gently, moved a little further into the room, and found a clean place to sit down.

She was familiar with Chang Qingfeng's gaze, it was the gaze of a hunting dog - this man would never give up until he caught his target.

So Eve decided to send him a replacement.

She reached into her pocket, pulled out several nuclear crystals and began to absorb energy.

The magic power she had absorbed before was limited, and she could only control a few zombies in total. Apart from the few zombies she had just released from the cage, she could no longer tame new zombies. She had to replenish her magic power as soon as possible during the time she was hiding.

But then again, these nuclear crystals are worthy of being offered to the experimental area. They are of very good quality and have several times more magic power than the ones Eve had previously scraped back from the gravel field.

She used up half of the bag in one breath, but stopped after absorbing the tenth one, and carefully put the remaining core crystals into her pocket - she had to think about her life after escaping the base.

Eve took a deep breath, feeling abundant magic power flowing through her body. She carefully untied the bandage on her shoulder and covered the hideous wound with her hand.

The palm of his hand glowed with light, and the wound that had been bleeding began to heal. In a moment, even the cracks caused by the zombies' bites slowly closed up, and the skin became smooth again.

Chang Qingfeng was wrong about one thing - even if bitten by a zombie, Eve would not be infected.

She started learning how to control zombies at the age of seven. Almost every inch of her body had been bitten by zombies, and she had long developed antibodies.

But even though she used magic to heal the wound, the torn area still hurt. Eve moved her fingers, licked her lips, and suddenly missed the half bag of rock sugar hidden in the dormitory.

But her pockets were empty. Eve curled her lips and sat cross-legged again. Her green eyes blinked in the darkness, quietly waiting for time to pass.

During this time, some people occasionally ran past the door, their hurried footsteps knocking on the wall. Eve listened carefully to their conversation, but found that these people were not trying to capture her, but a high-level zombie in the experimental area seemed to have had an accident.

"It's a little out of control, it's out of control!"

"Then turn it back on and suspend the experiment!"

As she listened to the people's argument, her small red tongue couldn't help licking her red lips.

If conditions permit, she would really like to tame this high-level zombie. The original zombies have probably been almost wiped out by Chang Qingfeng, and she is left alone again.

But it's too risky to go out now.

Eve waited patiently for a while. After a while, the noise outside finally died down. She stood up, dusted herself off, and walked out of the room briskly.

After the previous incident, the small building was much less guarded. It was quiet outside and even the lights were not on. Eve walked silently through the corridor, and her footsteps on the ground were like soft spores floating down gently.

On the way, she met two soldiers who were leaning against the wall, talking in a relaxed tone.

Eve frowned. The two men blocked the exit and she couldn't go to the ground.

She dodged and hid behind a wall, watching the two men with bated breath, looking for an opportunity to break through.

"Why haven't Wang Zhi and the others arrived yet?" one of them complained. "Didn't we agree to change shifts at ten o'clock?"

"Forget it. If it were me, I wouldn't want to come here so early to guard these dead bodies," his companion advised. "Next time, let's be a little later."

Eve listened to the conversation between the two and felt that something was wrong.

Suddenly, she seemed to realize something and straightened up, but at the same time, a bright light came from behind her!

"Hey!" A soldier stood behind her, holding a flashlight, and asked in astonishment, "Who are you? Why are you here?!"

Eve: “…”

I'm so unlucky that I ran into this late brother.

Eve covered the lower half of her face with her clothes, tilted her head slightly, and called out in a light tone: "Wang Zhi?"

The soldier, Wang Zhi, was even more surprised: "How do you know my name...Ah!!"

Before he could finish his words, Eve suddenly rushed forward and kicked him in the lower body!

Wang Zhi fell to the ground, his face distorted with pain. He watched Eve step over him and shouted angrily, "Intruder! There's an intruder!!!"

The other two soldiers who were chatting reacted, one chased after Eve, and the other sounded the alarm: "Intruder!!"

“Bang!”

The lights in the entire corridor turned on instantly, and a sharp alarm sounded, almost piercing Eve's eardrums. She paused, suddenly changed direction, and ran deep into the underground.

The soldier chasing behind: "???"

Is this kid crazy? There are zombies down there!

But that's what Eve is going for.

Ordinary soldiers were arranged to patrol the exit, and with the two soldiers sounding the alarm, the exit must be crowded with soldiers now, waiting for her to rush in.

To escape her current predicament, Eve must find new zombies.

She ignored the increasing number of footsteps behind her, gathered her strength, and ran quickly towards the stairs.

“Bang!”

A gunshot rang out from behind, and Eve was accidentally hit in the right arm. She stumbled and fell to the ground. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the soldier behind her rushed over and said, "Where are you going to run?"

But the little man who was half squatting on the ground suddenly turned around, raised his arm, and scattered a piece of small things!

The soldier was shocked: "Back off!" There is a hidden weapon!

"...No!" another person suddenly shouted, "Is that...a nuclear crystal?!"

Everyone subconsciously looked over. The small stones fell to the ground, and the irregular cut surfaces reflected a glittering crimson light...wasn't that nuclear crystal?!

"Nuclear crystal? It's a nuclear crystal!"

"Fuck! Get out of the way!"

Although they knew that capturing Eve was the top priority, when faced with the glittering nuclear crystals on the ground, before the soldiers could react, their bodies had already taken action - they pounced on them like hungry wolves!

Eve laughed: "Don't worry, there's more."

She took out another handful from her pocket, and without even looking at the priceless gems, she threw them all at the soldiers!

Nuclear crystals fell like fine rain. The soldiers at the front became increasingly frantic, scrambling for the gems on the ground. Some soldiers who were still relatively clear-headed shouted, "Don't fight! Catch her first!"

But with the nuclear crystals in front, who in the front row would listen? They just focused on picking up the nuclear crystals. Even if the soldiers in the back row wanted to move forward, they were squeezed and unable to move.

Eve seemed to find the chaotic scene quite amusing, bursting into laughter. She placed her injured hand on her chest and bowed slightly to the soldier: "Then...goodbye."

After saying that, he ran towards the depths without looking back.

***

When Eve entered the corridor on the third underground floor, the surroundings suddenly became much quieter.

If there are too many living people, the zombies will get excited, so she has not seen any guards on the third underground floor as she walked along. She guessed that they would only arrange a few people with special abilities to guard here.

This is an opportunity for Eve, she must find a new zombie servant before the mutant discovers her.

Zombies are actually not difficult to find - there are two-person-high iron cages on both sides of the corridor, filled with several zombies. When they smell the human scent, they begin to make low roars.

Eve tried to pull the iron door, but it obviously wouldn't open.

She began to think, maybe it would be easier to provoke a few people with special abilities and lure them out of the cage?

Just as Eve was hesitating, a sound suddenly came from the left: "Crack!"

It sounded a bit like a lock breaking. Eve raised her eyebrows, decisively gave up on the ordinary zombies in that corridor, and walked towards the source of the sound.

She stopped in front of an iron gate.

Eve lowered her head and placed her hand on the door handle. Originally, there were several iron chains wrapped around it, but now they were all broken, leaving only the original iron lock holding the door.

Half of the chain fell to the ground, which seemed to have caused the sound she had just heard.

"Bang!"

Suddenly, the door trembled violently, as if something hit the door hard, and the iron lock made a cracking sound. It was probably about to be scrapped.

Eve looked up at the door.

She could sense that there was a high-level zombie behind the door.

Unlike low-level zombies, some high-level zombies will evolve nearly human intelligence and ways of thinking, just like this zombie - it wants to escape from prison when the defense is lax.

The corners of Eve's mouth slowly curled up.

Why not let her help?

She pressed her hand to her chest, exerted a little force, and a red light was forced out. It fell into her palm like a snowflake and slowly condensed into a heart-shaped stone.

This is Eve's witch heart.

The witch's heart is the source of her magic power. If she uses it, Eve can summon zombies even when she is low on magic power.

But she can only use it once - because the zombie that signs the contract in this way will become her only dependent.

But it’s not a big problem. The zombie inside can make the psychics in the base run around in circles, so it must be no cheap creature.

Eve put her fingers on the door lock and exerted a little force, and the shaky iron lock was removed.

She kicked it lightly with her foot and the door opened, slowly revealing the zombie behind it.

It was two meters tall, half crouching on the ground, its red eyes like two lanterns, and its muscular body cast a huge shadow, covering Eve completely.

Catching sight of Eve, it let out a threatening growl.

Eve's eyes gleamed with interest. She bit her finger and smeared the blood on the witch's heart. Just as she was about to launch the contract magic circle, something unexpected happened.

——A slender figure suddenly emerged from the side and hugged Eve fiercely. She could only see the other person's dazzlingly white skin, and her hands were already tightly grasped by a pair of cold sharp claws.

A handsome male zombie pressed Eve to the ground, bent down, and swallowed the witch's heart in one gulp!

The author has something to say:

Eve: What the fu&*#@?

You are so smart, you must know who swallowed the witch's heart!

I forgot to mention this before, but there are bonuses for the first three chapters! Hey guys, please share your thoughts! Save them! (Chimi~!)
