Chapter 370 Rescue (2/2)

More than a dozen children lay on makeshift stretchers, some crying and some too weak to make a sound. Two volunteers were frantically trying to take care of them.

"I'm a doctor," Bai Yajing's calm voice resonated throughout the area. "Let me take a look."

Upon hearing that the doctor had finally arrived, the volunteers' faces lit up with smiles. "Great! You've finally come! We'll help you out!"

"good!"

For the next few hours, Bai Yajing almost forgot about time.

She went from one child to another, cleaning wounds, suturing, fixing fractures, and injecting painkillers.

The tent was unbearably hot and humid, and her clothes were soaked with sweat, but she couldn't stop.

"Auntie Doctor..." a faint voice came from the corner.

Bai Yajing heard the shouts and rushed over. She saw a little girl, about eight or nine years old, whose right leg was severely injured and whose face was terribly pale.

"I'm here, don't be afraid."

Bai Yajing knelt down, gently comforting the girl while examining her injuries. The wound was infected and needed immediate treatment.

"My name is Liu Liu..." the girl could only manage a very weak voice, "My mom and dad are both teachers... they're still down there..."

Bai Yajing paused for a moment.

She knew what "still down there" meant.

"You're very brave, Liu Liu," she said softly, beginning to clean the wound. "Now let me take care of your arm, okay?"

The girl nodded, biting her lip to endure the pain.

Bai Yajing quickly and gently treated her wounds, feeling a strong sense of pity and heartache welling up inside her.

This little girl, who has lost both her parents, doesn't know that she may never see them again, and there are many similar cases...

After treating the wound, Bai Yajing injected Liu Liu with antibiotics and then found some clean water and food.

"You'll get better," she said weakly. "I promise."

Besides that, she didn't know what else to say.

It was already dark when I stepped out of the tent.

Bai Yajing sat wearily on the ground, gazing at the starry sky.

In the distance, rescue efforts continued, with beams of searchlight piercing the night sky.

Although her body had reached its limit, she knew that there was still more work waiting for her.

She tried her best to regain her strength, forcing herself to eat even when she couldn't.

The next few hours were like a nightmare.

Wounded people kept arriving from the surrounding area, and Bai Yajing and her colleagues barely had time to catch their breath.

Her hands trembled from the long surgery, and her eyes were bloodshot from fatigue, but she dared not stop.

Each aftershock brought new panic, but medical staff and soldiers remained at their posts.

She was exhausted, and everyone else looked the same.

“This won’t do, we won’t be able to hold on. Let’s arrange a shift, with two people going to rest for two hours before taking over, taking turns to rest.”

No one objected to her arrangement; everyone knew they needed to rest, otherwise their efficiency would drop, and if they collapsed, they would become a hindrance.

"Two of the women can go out and rest first. We men can hold on a bit longer."

Zhou Lin discussed it with the other doctors and was the first to suggest that the men rest in the back.

Bai Yajing had no objections, "Then let's arrange it this way!"

Once everything was arranged, she continued working with her head down.

The people present were soaked in sweat, then dried, then soaked again, but under these circumstances, no one would complain about the smell on the other person.
