Chapter 435 Recruitment (1/2)

After returning to Kyoto, she did not forget Dean Gao's instruction to recruit new people.

Upon graduation, she identified several suitable candidates and extended invitations. Those candidates were indeed quite good; they passed the hospital's assessment and are now assistant doctors at the hospital.

However, there is still a shortage of nurses. The nurses' station is so busy every day that the head nurse has complained to her several times.

The cold wind, carrying fine snowflakes, lashed against the hospital's glass windows.

She stood by the window, gazing at the gray sky outside, her fingers unconsciously stroking the approval document that had just been delivered by Mr. Qian.

"Vice Dean Bai, Dean Qian requests your presence," Nurse Li called from outside the door.

"Okay, I'll be right there." Bai Yajing folded the approval document and put it in her white coat pocket, then tidied her hair.

The door to the dean's office was ajar, and a heated discussion could be heard inside. Bai Yajing casually knocked on the door.

"Come in." It was Old Qian's voice.

Pushing open the door, Bai Yajing saw that besides Dean Qian, there was also Director Xu from the Medical Affairs Department and several other hospital leaders. The atmosphere in the room was so heavy it was almost palpable.

"Ya Jing's here, please have a seat." Dean Qian gestured to the chair beside him. "You've already reviewed the approval document, haven't you?"

Bai Yajing nodded: "I've seen it. The organization sent me to the provincial nursing college to select thirty nurses, ten to join our hospital, and twenty to support the border medical team."

"Ya Jing, time is of the essence," Director Xu interjected. "The border regions urgently need medical personnel, especially those with battlefield first aid experience. This selection must be completed within five days."

Prioritize personnel from the border regions; our hospital can postpone the selection process!

Bai Yajing frowned slightly upon hearing this: "Five days? There's still selection, political review, training..."

"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures," Dean Qian interrupted her helplessly. "The situation on the frontier is more severe than you imagine. There's a shortage of medical supplies, and conditions are harsh, but the health of the people and the soldiers can't wait."

Bai Yajing's heart tightened, and she straightened her back: "I understand. I guarantee I'll complete the mission."

"One more thing," Director Xu added, "the candidates for this selection are mainly recent graduates, young and inexperienced. You need to do some ideological work with them, making them understand that this is an honorable mission, not a chance to enjoy a life of leisure."

Bai Yajing glared at him. This old man! All he knows is to say, "Why don't you go yourself?!" She won't give him good wine next time!

Director Xu rubbed his nose, feeling helpless too! This was the order from above! The others also looked at her helplessly, knowing that this was a tricky matter, and for a moment they were all speechless.

After leaving the dean's office, Bai Yajing went straight to the archives. She needed to review the records of this year's students at the provincial nursing college to get a better understanding of the situation beforehand. Old Zhao from the archives saw her arrive and mysteriously approached her.

"Vice Dean Bai, I heard you're going to the Nursing School to select students?"

Bai Yajing nodded: "What, Old Zhao, do you have some inside information?"

Old Zhao lowered his voice: "Those young girls are so pampered. They'd run away as fast as they could if they heard they were going to the frontier. Last month, the health bureau came to recruit nurses, and only five people signed up, but only two actually went."

Bai Yajing paused her finger on the file folder: "Is that so..." That makes sense.

Everyone has their own ideas, and she can't interfere.

"To be honest, this task is going to be tough for you," Old Zhao shook his head. "Young people these days, they can't handle that kind of hardship."

Bai Yajing shook her head and smiled without replying, instead carefully reviewing the student files.
