"Godmother, your house is so clean."
It wasn't just clean; there weren't many things left. It was clear the owner had packed up for a long journey.
Xu Wei pulled her to sit down and drink tea.
“I have two more weeks to stay here. Aren’t you going to the military hospital? I’ll apply to leave the house to you before I leave, so that Nannan won’t have to squeeze into the dormitory.”
However, your godmother still suggests that you go to university later. For now, just work at the military hospital. Your situation is special, and your superiors will support you.
She had originally planned to write a letter of recommendation for Bai Yajing in Shanghai before leaving, but this saved her the trouble.
"Although the college entrance examination has been abolished, as long as the country wants to develop, it will inevitably introduce policies. Trust your godmother, with your grades and background, plus my recommendation, once the policy is released, you will be able to go to university."
"How about it? Think about it?"
She doesn't know when she'll be able to come out yet, but she can write the letter and send a message in advance.
Bai Yajing listened attentively, her heart pounding with excitement. There was no need to hesitate any longer! She couldn't be happier!
She also always believed in the country and that the situation would improve, as did her godmother and the others.
"Godmother, thank you, thank you for thinking of me and planning for me..."
Xu Wei was happy to see that she agreed. "Silly girl, you are Jianye's and my child. If I don't worry about you, who will I worry about? I know you studied traditional Chinese medicine with your aunt. Do you have any plans to go to any school?"
Universities have been affected to some extent, and the future is still uncertain. She hopes her child can stay in Kyoto to study, where there are so many uncles and elders to take care of him.
When this was mentioned, Bai Yajing's eyes lit up. "Godmother, I heard from Uncle Zheng and the others that you are a top student from Kyoto University. I also want to go to Kyoto University!"
My grades have always been excellent, and I'm confident I can study there in the future!
She's had enough of learning traditional Chinese medicine from her grandmother; now she wants to study Western medicine to see if the two can be combined...
Xu Wei knew about her situation, which suited her perfectly. Some of her classmates had stayed on to teach at the school, so she could ask someone to take care of the girl.
"Great! Kyoto University's medical school is also excellent! I'll go write a letter and make a phone call right now!"
She was overjoyed. How could a mother not be happy that her child was so motivated? She couldn't wait to finalize the matter.
Bai Yajing smiled and saw her into the study, then went to the kitchen to make a hangover soup for her godmother.
She drank quite a bit in a moment of joy.
As for the prescription, I'll visit the director of the military hospital tomorrow.
When Xu Wei finished her work and came out, she saw her carrying a hangover soup out of the kitchen.
"Godmother, come and drink this hangover soup, or you'll have a headache tomorrow."
Xu Wei felt a warmth in her heart. How many years had it been? How long had it been since she had felt the care of her family after Kang Jianye left?
"Okay!" He took it and drank it all in one gulp.
"My dear. I knew you were coming, so I tidied up a room. You must be tired from the journey. Take a shower and get some rest."
Bai Yajing followed her as she was pushed along, responding as she entered the bathroom.
Not long after, Xu Wei delivered the new clothes.
"I made them all. Try them on."
Bai Yajing smiled and thanked her, accepting the gift. She stroked the soft fabric with her hand, her smile never fading.
After taking a shower, I went to the room prepared for her and pushed open the door. The first thing I saw was a small bed with clean sheets and blankets on it.
There were also a few books, a kettle, and an enamel mug on the table. Opening the wardrobe, there were two sets of new clothes inside, and upon closer inspection, they were both the right size for me.
