Chapter 140 Commander Xiao's Help (2/2)

The next morning, Bai Yajing went to the village committee to call Kang An and ask him to come back.

"Anzi, the captain's leg pain has flared up again, you need to come back quickly."

I'm sorry, Captain, but there's nothing I can do. It's such an important matter; if there are bad guys in the police force who notice something, it will be terrible.

Kang An is a filial son. As soon as he heard that his grandfather was sick, he rushed back in a hurry, pedaling his bicycle until his legs were smoking.

When he arrived home, Bai Yajing was already waiting for him.

"Grandpa, is your leg hurting again?"

As soon as he got back, he didn't even have time to stop his bicycle; he just threw it on the ground, strode into the house, and started yelling.

The old man gave him a disapproving yet pleased look.

"You know how skilled your grandmother is at medicine; she cured this ailment eight hundred years ago. It's Jing'er who needs to talk to you."

After saying that, he leisurely went out for a stroll with his hands behind his back.

Kang An looked at Bai Yajing suspiciously. "What do you want? Your uncle said yesterday that enemy agents have appeared, and our department is busy dealing with it right now."

The entire city is now secretly sealed off. Their men are scattered throughout the area, and they've even stationed guards at various exits at the foot of the mountain, just waiting for people to walk right into their trap.

Bai Yajing stood up. "I came to see you about this. Come with me to a place."

Upon realizing it was a serious matter, Kang An straightened his attitude and followed her.

The two arrived at the yard near the cowshed, where Old Master Xiao had just finished feeding the cows.

Seeing her approach, he quickly clapped his hands and greeted her with a smile, "Comrade Xiaobai, you're here! Come in and have a seat. And who is this?"

Bai Yajing fetched water for him to wash his hands, and introduced them to each other, "This is Kang An, the grandson of the brigade leader. He works at the town's public security bureau. Anzi, this is Commander Xiao."

Kang An had heard from his grandfather that a military commander had been sent down to the village, and now that he saw the man, he was filled with respect.

He straightened his clothes and gave a solemn military salute.

"Greetings, Commander!"

Grandpa Xiao returned the greeting respectfully before inviting them into the house.

After serving tea to the group, Xiao's mother left.

Bai Yajing recounted everything that had happened recently, especially what happened yesterday.

Grandpa Xiao was dumbfounded. He knew this young comrade was capable, but he never imagined she was this capable. What to do? Suddenly, he felt his silly son was a bit unworthy of her…

Kang An, however, showed no surprise whatsoever. She'd always been this headstrong since she was little, so it wasn't unusual for her.

"Grandpa Xiao, Anzi, we dragged the bodies of those three people down the mountain and put them in my backyard, where Da Bai is watching over them. Did you write down the list I gave you?"

It's best not to leave any trace of something so important; keeping it firmly in your heart is the safest approach.

Kang An nodded. "I've remembered everything. Don't worry."

After pondering for a moment, Old Master Xiao got up, walked to the table, took out paper and pen, and began to write.

After he finished writing, he put the letters into several envelopes and handed them to Kang An.

"Most of the people on that list are quite troublesome, and relying solely on your connections will make things very difficult. I wrote a few letters, and those old guys seem to be reliable."

That's perfect, since they're in charge of those people; having them handle the investigations will save a lot of time. The longer those enemy agents remain hidden, the more serious the security risks they pose to the country.

Kang An excitedly accepted the package with both hands. He was confident in investigating those people, but he also knew it would be very troublesome. Now, with Commander Xiao's help, he could save a lot of energy and time!

"Okay, I'll get on it right away!"

He couldn't wait a moment longer. He left the letter close to his body and ran off.

Bai Yajing shook her head helplessly.
