Chapter 13: Falling out
Finally, she didn’t have to sleep in the wilderness tonight. She happily found a comfortable position and lay down to sleep. There would be another good show to watch tomorrow!
This night was really very long for He Yuan. He would go to feel if Jiang Bai was still breathing after a while.
In reality, he was deeply conflicted. Before accepting Lin Xiaoyue's ten gold coins, he desperately wanted Jiang Bai alive. He wanted it so much because they had been working together, exiling prisoners from the first day they became yamen runners. Each time they were out, they would be away for at least two weeks, sometimes half a year. Over time, the two had become closer than brothers.
But just now when he was holding the ten gold coins in his arms and was about to take them out, he suddenly didn't feel so hopeful anymore. That much money could buy him ten lives!

An awkward expression flashed across He Yuan's face for a moment, and he yelled at the top of his lungs, "Get lost! What qualifications do you have to criticize me? I think you sleep even better than me!"
Lin Xiaoyue didn't miss the subtle change in He Yuan's expression. She grabbed He Yuan by the collar and angrily scolded him, "Men and women shouldn't touch each other. How could I take care of a man who has nothing to do with me? I felt something was wrong with you yesterday. I think you just want to embezzle those ten gold coins and the bag of silver on Jiang Bai!"
He Yuan was so angry that he wanted to hit Lin Xiaoyue, "I didn't do that, don't lie!"
Lin Xiaoyue carefully avoided him, touched Jiang Bai's chest, and asked, "Then tell me, where did Jiang Bai's wallet go? You were carrying him all the way!"
He Yuan pushed Lin Xiaoyue away forcefully, "Don't touch him! You dirty woman!"
Lin Xiaoyue almost fell to the ground because she didn't stand firmly, but fortunately, Gu Shanren appeared in time and pulled her up.
She took a step back to steady herself and said gratefully, "Thank you, Shopkeeper Gu!"

Mr. Gu took it in his hand and rubbed it for a few times, and found that it was only one gold coin. He heard yesterday that the man had ten gold coins on him!
He snorted coldly and refused righteously, "Even a little girl like you understands the truth. Is he just a decoration with his size? Surround him! If he doesn't pay me today, don't even think about leaving the gate of Huichun Hall!"

He Yuan raised his hand and grabbed Gu Shanren's neck, threatening him, "Who do you think is faster, the County Magistrate, arresting me, or me killing you?"
Mr. Gu Shan was afraid that He Yuan would really strangle him to death in a fit of impulse. His life was worth much more than ten gold coins!
He searched back and forth in the clinic for a savior. When he saw Lin Xiaoyue, he excitedly shouted, "Girl, please save me! I came out to save people for your sake!"
Lin Xiaoyue cursed He Yuan in her heart for being a good-for-nothing. Jiang Bai was already dead. If she continued to follow him, she didn't know how much money she would have to spend.
Although her money came easily, it didn't fall from the sky. God knows how many brain cells she lost in moving so many things out from under the emperor's nose!
Therefore, she must rely on Mr. Gu to deal with this bottomless pit!
"He Yuan, what's wrong with you! Apologize to Shopkeeper Gu now. I'll pay you back! Shopkeeper Gu, how much did you pay for that pill from yesterday?"
Gu Shanren's priority now was to save his life. Revenge would be decided later. Without thinking, he blurted out, "Ten gold coins!"
He Yuan's eyes widened and he cursed, "What's the difference between this and robbery? The person couldn't be saved, why should I give you ten gold coins?"
Lin Xiaoyue didn't want to continue wasting time here. She was rich, pretty, and had a great life waiting for her!
Since this was the last time, she stuffed ten gold coins into Gu Shanren's hand and then desperately tried to pull He Yuan away. "Aren't you ashamed? Jiang Bai in heaven wouldn't feel comfortable watching you like this. Let's go!"
He Yuan waved his fist at Gu Shanren and warned him, "Hmph, don't let me see you again! If I see you again, I'll beat you up every time I see you!"
Gu Shanren narrowed his eyes dangerously and said, "If you have the guts, go out of Furong Town and take a look!"
