Chapter 37: It's just a lie

Chapter 37: It's just a lie

Lin Xiaoyue thought for a moment and said, "Put a thin pole across the yard for me. I need to dry the radishes on it."

Liang Jingyao searched in the cellar, took out the thinnest bamboo pole and asked:

"Is this okay?"

Lin Xiaoyue took a look and found that the diameter of the bamboo pole was only half the size of her fist. It was obviously not suitable for drying radishes!

"No, it's still too thick. Do you still have any use for this bamboo pole? If not, take it up there and I'll split it into thinner pieces myself."

Liang Jingyao immediately rejected Lin Xiaoyue's idea, "How can this be possible? You tell me the size, and I'll chop it!"

Lin Xiaoyue really wasn't sure about splitting bamboo, but since Brother Liang was willing, she was happy to go along with it. "Okay, you'd better split it into pieces as wide as my finger. Don't make the bamboo pole too long, because a thin pole can't bear the weight."

Liang Jingyao nodded, found a sack, threw all the radishes in Lin Xiaoyue's hand into the sack, and then took a lot of radishes into the sack. He carried the sack in one hand and the bamboo pole in the other, and said to Lin Xiaoyue, "You go first, I'll take it up."

Lin Xiaoyue felt that Liang Jingyao was quite gentlemanly and that she had not helped the wrong person!

On the ground, Cheng Feng was staring at the cellar like a mobile surveillance camera. If he wasn't afraid that his master would get angry again, he would have gone down to the cellar to watch!

After Lin Xiaoyue came up from the cellar, she went straight into the kitchen without even leaving a glance. What she had to do now was to wash the radishes, cut the radishes, and add a lot of salt!

She felt that the kitchen space was not big enough. If she cut the vegetables in the yard, she could hang them directly in the yard to dry after cutting, and she wouldn't have to run back and forth between the kitchen and the yard.

Roll up your sleeves and get to work!

Lin Xiaoyue used all her strength to carry and drag the table out of the yard. She felt like she was about to collapse from this step. The original owner's body really couldn't exert any strength at all. From now on, she would run and exercise every day. Liu Ruofufeng was not her type!

This scene was seen by Liang Jingyao who had just come out of the cellar. He didn't expect that the seemingly weak Lin Xiaoyue was so tough. If it were another woman, she would have burst into tears long ago.

He angrily scolded Cheng Feng, who was watching the fun and not minding his own business, "Cheng Feng! Master Lin is working for me, why don't you help her lift a table or move something?"

When Cheng Feng heard his master's voice, he immediately went to take the things from his shoulder. "She took them out herself! I wanted to wait for you to come out and help you get the things. This Lin Xiaoyue is really too much. Why do you have to carry so many things by yourself?"

Liang Jingyao obviously wasn't buying it. He kicked the bamboo pole on the ground and ordered, "Go ask Master Lin what size poles to split this into? Watch your attitude!"

Cheng Feng was very reluctant, but Liang Jingyao's look was too scary!

He walked over awkwardly and asked perfunctorily, "How big is the chop?"

At this time, Lin Xiaoyue had already placed the radishes on the ground into the large wooden basin and was scooping water with a large wooden ladle. So she didn't have time to chat with Cheng Feng. She gestured with her hands to measure the length and said, "If you can chop them thinly, a longer bamboo stick is best. Otherwise, chopping them into pieces as wide as your finger will also be fine."

Cheng Feng placed the bamboo pole in front of Lin Xiaoyue and said, "How about you chop one first and I'll follow your lead? You can even move a table anyway, let alone chop bamboo!"

Lin Xiaoyue felt that it was really far-fetched to compare moving a table and splitting bamboo!

There is only one way to deal with such an unreasonable person, and that is to be even more unreasonable to him!

She took the bamboo and said, "I can chop it, but I'm not very strong. It will probably be dark before I finish. To save time, how about you pickle the radish?"

How could Cheng Feng pickle radish?

He sneered, "If I knew all that, what would I need you for? If you can't make it in time, pickle it tomorrow! You should split the bamboo first!"

Lin Xiaoyue glanced sideways at Liang Jingyao, who had brought up another bag of radishes, and waved, "Brother Liang, Cheng Feng wants me to help him chop bamboo. I'm afraid I won't have time to dry them today, so could you please wash the radishes for me first?"

Liang Jingyao's eyes flashed with anger, and he slapped Cheng Feng directly, "How dare you! Have you forgotten what I told you? You are really getting more and more outrageous!"

Cheng Feng defended himself, "I didn't ask her to chop bamboo. I just wanted her to demonstrate and I did what she did! This woman framed me!"

Liang Jingyao knew Cheng Feng was playing tricks. It was just a bamboo pole, and Lin Xiaoyue, a girl, didn't have much strength. If she was asked to split a thin bamboo pole, who knew how many bamboo poles she would have to break? How would she even dry the radishes then?

How on earth had he taught Cheng Feng all these years? How had he turned out someone so ungenerous and uncultured?

Liang Jingyao slapped him again and shouted angrily, "Apologize to Master Lin!"

Cheng Feng bit his lower lip for a long time before he turned around and said "I'm sorry" to Lin Xiaoyue.

Lin Xiaoyue said nothing, threw away the bamboo pole in her hand, and continued to scoop water into the large wooden basin.

Liang Jingyao knew that Lin Xiaoyue was still angry. He kicked the bamboo pole far away and said to Cheng Feng, "Go chop it over there!"

Cheng Feng walked over with a droopy look like an eggplant hit by frost, and started chopping the grass intermittently.

Seeing that Cheng Feng had stopped being stubborn, Liang Jingyao's anger subsided a little. He picked up the large wooden basin at Lin Xiaoyue's feet and said, "Washing like this is too slow. I'll take it to the lake and wash it in no time. Just wait here for me."

Lin Xiaoyue didn't want to just sit there and wait, so she stopped Liang Jingyao and said, "There's almost enough water in this basin for washing. Why don't you just leave it here? I can cut it right after I wash it. Take the bag you just brought up to the lake to wash it. This way we can both save time."

Liang Jingyao nodded, put the big wooden basin back, then picked up a sack of radishes and walked towards the lake.

The sun in late autumn does not stay for long. In order to dry the radishes while the sun is shining brightly, Lin Xiaoyue moves her hands very quickly.

She squatted on the ground and washed off the dirt on the surface of the radish, then changed to a basin of clean water and washed it again. Then she put the basin of clean radishes on the table and began to cut the radishes by pinching off the heads and tails. Then she cut the radishes vertically into wide slices of uniform thickness, so that some radishes would not be dry while others were not. Finally, in order to facilitate drying, she left a distance of about the width of a finger on the top of the wide radish slices and cut them all into strips at the bottom.

However, Lin Xiaoyue was careful when cutting and cut one part into wide strips and the other part into thin strips.

Liang Jingyao, who had just returned from washing radishes by the lake, also noticed the difference and couldn't help asking, "Master Lin, are your hands sore from cutting? Why are some thick ones thick and some thin ones thin? How about I help you cut them?"

Cheng Feng heard his master's question and seized the opportunity to complain, "Master, you're the only one who's kindhearted. How could she possibly pickle vegetables? She can't even cut vegetables properly. She's just fooling around!"
