Chapter 185 Solving the Mystery

Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun held their breath, lying prone in the pit, not daring to breathe loudly, ready for battle.

The best time to capture Lai Chunyang is when he is about three or four meters away from the pit. Otherwise, if he passes by, there will be no chance today.

Xue Yanchen nudged Zhao Jun gently with his elbow, signaling that he could proceed.

They both leaped out of the pit almost simultaneously, moving swiftly and nimbly like cheetahs hunting their prey, and pounced on Lai Chunyang together.

Lai Chunyang had to keep an eye on the alarm on his foot and check the road conditions, never expecting that someone would be lying in ambush here.

So by the time he realized it, it was too late.

Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun tackled him to the ground and decisively restrained his hands and feet, giving him no chance to resist or escape.

However, Lai Chunyang still wanted to reach for his gun, hoping to use bullets to eliminate the enemy in front of him.

However, his body was completely controlled by the two people above him. Those two people were extremely strong, and he could hardly move at all.

Xue Yanchen held down his hands and upper body, while Zhao Jun used his knees and both hands to press down on his legs, leaving him no room to fight back.

Faced with imminent disaster, Lai Chunyang still tried to struggle: "Who are you? Why are you arresting me for no reason?"

Xue Yanchen didn't say anything, but quickly pulled a pistol and a dagger from his pocket.

"Why are we arresting you? Why are you carrying such a dangerous weapon?"

Lai Chunyang recognized the voice as Xue Yanchen's. He gritted his teeth and said, "It really is you!"

"Yes, so you must also intend to kill me. Unfortunately, I won't give you that chance. Comrade enemy agent, let me tell you, evil can never triumph over justice. Once you embark on this path, you are destined to have a bad end."

Lai Chunyang's mind raced as he devised a plan to distract the other party.

"If I'm not mistaken, you're from the military, huh? Not bad." His last sentence was full of sarcasm.

"So, you think it's unfair for the two of us to capture one of you, right?" Xue Yanchen said with a faint smile.

"Yes, if you're so capable, let's have a one-on-one fight and see if you can still catch me."

Zhao Jun raised his hand and delivered a powerful blow to his head.

"You think we're idiots? You think we'll fall for your tricks? Now that we've got you, there's no way we'll let you go. Besides, the leaders over there must be some real talent to send someone like you over there."

Lai Chunyang was just trying anything, and never expected the other party to fall for his trick. Now that he was at the mercy of the other party, he figured it would be useless for him to say anything more. So, he obediently shut his mouth and said nothing more.

Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun had already used the ropes they carried to tie him up tightly. They had a certain skill in tying people up, and no matter how Lai Chunming struggled, he couldn't break free.

Lai Chunyang looked at Xue Yanchen with suspicion and asked, "Since I've already been arrested, I accept it. However, I want to know one thing: when did you figure out my identity? It wasn't the second time you came to my house, was it?"

Xue Yanchen didn't pay much attention to his question. He felt there was no need to answer it, because saying more wouldn't do him any good.

“I don’t need to tell you that much. Do you think I’ll tell you just because you asked? You’re already subdued by us, and you can’t escape. As for how it happened, it doesn’t matter to you at all.”

Besides, wasting time talking to the enemy is a waste of one's own time, which frustrated Lai Chunming to death.

Zhao Jun said, "Let's carry this pig down the mountain now."

Lai Chunming was now completely bound, making it extremely difficult for him to even move. He was no different from a wild boar that had been hunted. Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun had to carry him down the mountain.

Zhao Jun found a straight wooden stick: "Let's use this stick."

So they rolled dry grass into balls, gagged Lai Chunming, and carried him down the mountain like a dead pig. Next, they had to take Lai Chunming to the county police station and hand him over to the people there for safekeeping.

They originally wanted to borrow an oxcart from the brigade leader's house, but considering their identities, they were afraid that it would expose them and cause difficulties for their future actions, so they gave up the idea and could only carry Lai Chunming on foot to the county town and deliver him there overnight.

Although Lai Chunming didn't have to walk, his hands and feet were tightly bound and strung on bars. Heaven knows how much pain his wrists and ankles were in.

No matter how much pain he was in, no one pitied him.

He deserved it.

Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun carried him to the police station. There were police officers on duty late at night. Xue Yanchen explained the key points of the matter to the officer on duty. Because it involved enemy agents, it was no small matter. The officer on duty then specially called Cheng Tianming over.

Cheng Tianming got out of bed in the middle of the night and went to the police station. Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun showed him their military officer IDs and told him the whole story.

Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun had missions to attend to and could not leave. They could only have the police keep an eye on Lai Chunyang while they waited for the military to send someone to escort Lai Chunyang back to the military base for interrogation.

That night, Lai Chunyang was locked in the cell for serious criminals, where two police officers took turns guarding him.

Afterwards, Xue Yanchen used the phone in the Public Security Bureau to call his superiors, informing them of Lai Chunyang's situation and also implying that there was a traitor within their ranks.

When the call was made, only Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun were present; everyone else voluntarily withdrew. The call was very brief, using the fewest words possible to convey the most important information.

Because of Lai Chunyang's involvement, the police searched Lai's house the next day. Lai's family had no idea what Lai Chunyang was doing, and even though they were all ruthless, they were shocked when they learned about it.

Although they were unaware of the matter, their family ties made it difficult for them to escape being implicated.
