Chapter 306 So That's How It Is

"Yes, it would have been better if we hadn't had such relatives in the first place."

Mr. Luo probably didn't want to mention that family. He had been silent the whole time, and when he felt that the mother and daughter had said enough, he changed the subject.

"Jingyan, Siqi, the Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner. What kind of zongzi would you like to eat? I'll make them for you."

Luo Jingyan teased her father, "My dad talks about food the moment he opens his mouth. He truly lives up to his reputation as a foodie."

When his daughter teased him, Mr. Luo didn't get angry at all; instead, he smiled.

“If it weren’t for the fact that I’m a foodie, I wouldn’t be able to cook such delicious dishes. I’m a seasoned foodie, and you two are just as good, two little foodies, and a mother…” At this point, he met Luo’s father’s gaze, and the word “foodie” instantly caught in his throat. He then changed his words, saying, “I mean, there are three of us foodies in the family, plus your mother, who is a gourmet food connoisseur.”

Actually, Mrs. Luo wasn't angry: "You're all foodies, and so am I, otherwise I'd seem like an exception. But I'm not some kind of female foodie. You're such a grown-up, speaking so rudely. I am, I am... what kind of foodie?" Mrs. Luo didn't even know how to name herself.

"You're a foodie too. We have two little foodies in our family, two little foodies."

"What about Mom?"

"Mom is a gluttonous goddess," Mr. Luo said with a smile. "Mom won't blame us if she hears this."

Luo Jingyan got back to the point: "I can eat either savory or sweet zongzi, half of them and half of them."

“Me too, I’m not picky,” said Mrs. Luo.

Grandma Zhang is old and doesn't do much work in the fields during the day, but her physical strength is limited. She's already asleep in her room, and Luo Jingyan didn't disturb her when she arrived.

Mr. Luo said, "I'll ask your grandma when she wakes up. You should also ask Xiaotian and Mom which kind of food they like. If they like that kind more, then make more of it."

"Oh dear, I don't even know if I'll have to work that day."

"I didn't know that. This is our first year celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival here, so we don't know the local customs yet."

Luo Jingyan didn't know if the village would have a holiday for the Dragon Boat Festival. "If there's no holiday, we'll make more tonight. Anyway, Xiaotian and I are living outside now, so as long as we're careful, no one will notice when we come."

"Alright."

Luo Jingyan plans to bring the glutinous rice, sugar, and red dates she uses for making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) next time she comes, and keep them here for future use.

On the mountain

Chen Jinlong had already led his men to migrate to the deep mountains west of the Shengli Brigade.

Chen Jinlong has been absolutely enamored with the beautiful chicken-blood stone necklace ever since he got it.

Besides wearing it around my neck all the time, I would enthusiastically hold it in my hands and admire and play with it for a while every day.
