Chapter 355 The Stone Falls to the Ground

Compared to doubt, he felt more excitement and joy.

If the letter wasn't written by Luo Jingyan, it means that Luo Jingyan didn't want to break up with him, it was all fake, and there was no estrangement between them.

The contrast before and after gave him a feeling of having found a lost treasure, and he couldn't help but twitch his lips into a smile.

At that moment, he felt the train was moving so slowly that he longed to fly there, hold his beloved in his arms, and never let go again.

The older man in the bunk opposite him saw him looking gloomy and staring blankly at a piece of paper, and now he inexplicably had a smirk on his face. He shook his head speechlessly at him.

The rain stopped so quickly that he couldn't help but give Xue Yanchen a look as if he were crazy.

But seeing Xue Yanchen in his military uniform, I felt that there shouldn't be anything wrong with his head.

Xue Yanchen inadvertently caught his older brother's gaze, but he didn't pay any attention to it. At this moment, he was in a good mood and found everyone pleasing to the eye.

I greeted my older brother first, and he returned the greeting with a smile.

Then, the two started chatting.

The next afternoon, Xue Yanchen's train arrived at the Anxian County Railway Station in Jilin Province. After the train stopped, he carried his luggage and walked briskly out of the station.

In order to see Luo Jingyan as soon as possible, he didn't have time to detour to the Qin family to visit Old Madam Qin, and went straight to the place where the oxcart was.

He was lucky today; although he didn't encounter the oxcart that went back to the Victory Brigade, he did find one that went back to the Forward Brigade.

The two brigades were only two miles apart, which was negligible for him, who had two incredibly long legs.

He used to be an educated youth in the Qianjin Brigade, and sometimes he would take this oxcart to the county town. He was quite familiar with the old man who drove the cart.

When the old man saw him in his military uniform, looking even more distinguished than before, he smiled and praised him, "Oh my, I really didn't expect you to be an officer in the army. I never imagined that our small brigade had such hidden talents."

Comrade Xue, beaming with joy, smiled and said, "You flatter me, sir. I'm just a soldier, no different from any other officer or soldier."

"What difference does it make? Being able to become an officer is a real skill." Seeing that everyone had arrived, the old man got on the oxcart and cracked the whip at the ox's rump: "Hey, young man, I don't know what rank you are in the army. I have a distant nephew who is twenty-six this year and has already become a platoon leader. I think you are not as old as him. How do you compare to him in rank?"

"Me? I'm pretty much the same as him."

What's your rank?

"battalion commander."

"Battalion Commander!" The old man was so surprised he almost fell off the oxcart. "You're a battalion commander, and you're about the same rank as him?! I heard my nephew say that above a platoon leader is a company commander, and above a company commander is a battalion commander. Even among company commanders and battalion commanders, there's a distinction between a commander and a deputy commander. You're not even as old as him, yet you're a much higher-ranking officer. You say you're about the same rank as him? Young man, you're too modest."

Then, the old man casually asked, "You weren't a sent-down youth here anymore, so why did you come back?"

"I came back to see my girlfriend." His smile widened.

"Your girlfriend?" The old man tapped his head and thought for a moment. "I remember now, your girlfriend is an educated youth from Shengli Brigade. Hey, you're a capable young man, and your girlfriend is no less impressive. She's a brewing technician in Shengli Brigade."

"Yes, that's right." I felt very proud.

"You two are a powerful combination, haha."

Xue Yanchen got off the bus at the border between the Forward Brigade and the Victory Brigade. As soon as his feet touched the ground, he walked directly towards Luo Jingyan's newly built house.

Sometimes, it's just a coincidence. He had only been in the village for a short time when a man walked towards him.

Damn it, this guy is none other than Lu Chengye, the one he once considered a rival in love.

He probably still minded that Lu Chengye and Luo Jingyan had been involved. Even if it was fake, this petty man still felt uncomfortable thinking about it.

So after meeting Lu Chengye, the way he looked at Lu Chengye was still like he was looking at a rival in love.

Lu Chengye couldn't understand why Xue Yanchen was so hostile towards him; that cannibalistic look in his eyes was as if he had taken over his territory.

He seemed to have never interacted with him, let alone had any grudges against him, and inwardly scoffed at how inexplicable it was.

He hadn't done anything wrong, and the other party couldn't kill him with a single glance. Adhering to the principle of avoiding trouble, he decided not to stoop to the other party's level and walked past Xue Yanchen without a care in the world.

It wasn't time to leave work yet. When Xue Yanchen arrived at the door before Luo Jingyan entered, it was locked, so Luo Jingyan probably hadn't returned yet.

He tossed his bag over the wall into the yard, then went to the winery to find Luo Jingyan.

Inside the distillery, Luo Jingyan was inspecting a batch of sorghum that the brigade leader had recently purchased from the grain station when suddenly, a menacing figure appeared beside her.

The feeling was very familiar. She tilted her gaze slightly and caught a glimpse of that distinctive patch of green out of the corner of her eye.

He's back!

She turned her head and saw him, tall and imposing, standing in front of her.

"Yanchen!"

Her bright, sparkling eyes quickly lit up with joy, and an irrepressible smile spread across her radiant face: "Why did you suddenly come back again!"

Although the tone was reproachful, it carried no hint of blame; instead, it revealed a sense of elation.

Seeing the girl's joyful expression, the man instantly breathed a sigh of relief, and the huge weight in his heart was finally lifted.

Very good!

His wife was very happy to see him. She really liked him and wouldn't break up with him.
