Mrs. Xue didn't open the door again. Old Mrs. Xue said, "Who has come this time? Will any of you go and see?" Seeing that no one moved, she stood up and said, "What's wrong? If you won't go, I will."

Xue Ningnan wouldn't listen to her mother at all. She felt even more wronged because her mother had slapped her. She covered her face where her mother had hit her, and tears streamed down her face.
She roared at Xue's mother with resentment, "Mom, you hit me! You actually hit me for that outsider! I'm your own daughter, what is she to you?"
"Shut up!"
Xue's mother raised her hand again, but ultimately did not bring it down.
Because of the commotion, even Old Mrs. Xue came out.
Other neighbors in the courtyard also came out to see what was going on.
