The four of them had been traveling, but when Xue Yanchen and his wife arrived home, they didn't rest immediately. As soon as they entered the house, Xue Yanchen hugged his wife and collapsed onto the bed.
"Honey, I haven't been able to hug you for a whole day and night on the train, and it feels so bad."
Luo Jingyan glanced at the sun outside the window: "It's broad daylight, I'll just hold him for a while, then he'll eat something and go to sleep."
"Um."
Xue Yanchen got out of bed and closed the front and back doors. "Honey, we just got off the train and need to rest. No one will bother us."
The two engaged in vigorous exercise before resting, and were so exhausted that they slowly drifted off to sleep.
When Luo Jingyan woke up again, she realized that she was very hungry.
I promised myself I'd eat something before bed, but once I started doing something, I completely forgot I was hungry.
The two entered the space together. The space contained all kinds of ingredients. Luo Jingyan tossed Xue Yanchen a pheasant that had been placed inside long ago, asking him to slaughter it.
After killing the pheasant, she used a pressure cooker to stew the meat until it was tender in an hour.
While they were stewing the pheasant, they went to the orchard and picked strawberries, grapes, mangosteens, and other fruits to enjoy as dessert that evening.
The next day, Xue Yanchen and Zhao Jun both had to go to work, so Luo Jingyan took Qin Zhenzhen for a walk around the family compound to get to know the women there.
Qin Zhenzhen was a lively person and quickly became familiar with the women there.
After learning that Xue Yanchen and Luo Jingyan had returned, Xue Ningnan didn't rush to be abused. She behaved herself and just hoped that they wouldn't discover her true identity.
Since arriving here, Qin Zhenzhen has experienced what it truly means to live a life of leisure. Every day, besides cooking, she wanders around aimlessly with Luo Jingyan, chats with the women in the family compound, or goes up the mountain to dig for wild vegetables or pick mushrooms. She has no pressure or burden whatsoever.
Luo Jingyan also took her to the nearby market, which Qin Zhenzhen liked very much. In the following days, she wanted Luo Jingyan to accompany her there once.
Time flies, and a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
While brushing her teeth in the morning, Luo Jingyan suddenly felt a churning in her stomach, so she quickly ran to the toilet and vomited for a while.
Xue Yanchen was worried about his wife, so he followed her and patted her back, asking, "Wife, what's wrong?"
Luo Jingyan only coughed up some acidic fluid: "It's nothing, I'm fine now."
The rough-around-the-edges man assumed his wife was feeling unwell, saying, "If she feels unwell, she should go to the hospital and see a doctor."
"It's alright."
Luo Jingyan calculated the date of her first sexual encounter with Xue Yanchen, and considering that her period was several days late, she was very likely pregnant.
But she wasn't 100% sure yet.
Upon learning that she might be carrying a baby, she felt a warm glow in her heart, and an indescribable sense of happiness welled up from the bottom of her soul.
The man saw a smile on his wife's face and wondered why she was smiling when she wasn't feeling well.
He touched his wife's forehead and said, "Honey, if you feel unwell again, be sure to tell me right away, and I'll go to the hospital with you."
"I see."
Because his wife wasn't feeling well, Xue Yanchen didn't let her cook; he cooked for her himself.
To help his wife recover, he specially cooked a meat dish.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he brought the dishes to his wife, Luo Jingyan smelled the strong aroma of meat and felt nauseous again, so she quickly ran to the toilet.
"Wife." The man behind her frowned deeply; his wife was still unwell.
When Luo Jingyan came out of the restroom, he hurriedly went over to her: "Honey, listen to me, let's go to the hospital to get checked out. I'll feel at ease if the doctor examines you."
"No need." Luo Jingyan knew about the phenomenon of false pregnancy, and since she wasn't 100% sure she was pregnant, she decided not to tell him yet, lest it be a false alarm. "I just feel nauseous occasionally, nothing serious. How about this, if I don't feel better in the next couple of days, then we'll go to the hospital."
"Wife, please don't try to tough it out."
"I know, I'm young, I drink spiritual spring water every day, and I'm in good health. If I really feel unwell, I won't force myself to be."
"Honey, let me make you something else to eat."
Seeing that it was almost time for him to go to work, Luo Jingyan said, "Hurry up and eat something before you go. I can make whatever I want to eat later. I'm sure what I make will suit my taste better."
The man felt a little ashamed, realizing that he wasn't as good a cook as his wife; otherwise, she wouldn't have had to cook for him herself.
After he left, Luo Jingyan vomited twice more, but not as intensely as she had in the morning.
That evening, Xue Yanchen was cooking in the kitchen when she smelled the cooking fumes coming from inside, and her nausea intensified again. Hearing the noise in the kitchen, Xue Yanchen quickly took off her apron.
"Honey, we can't delay any longer. Listen to me, we have to go to the hospital."
"It's alright."
"No." He reached out to hug her: "Wife, you're not feeling well, I'll carry you."
"Okay, okay, I'll go. I don't need you to carry me. I can walk by myself."
To make it easier for family members to see a doctor, the military hospital was built not too far from the family compound, and they arrived in no time.
The day shift doctors were almost off work, but thankfully they arrived in time. After learning about Luo Jingyan's situation, the female doctor identified three possibilities: normal pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, or false pregnancy. To determine which one it was, an ultrasound examination would be all that was needed.
Ectopic pregnancy and false pregnancy are rare; the likelihood of a normal pregnancy is much higher.
