Chapter 83 Slander

Luo Jingyan was pondering the secrets of her space and Black Tiger.

Xue Yanchen is no ordinary person; he has a keen insight into things and people. He has now discovered that Black Tiger is unusual. If she continues to spend time with him, she fears that her secret will one day be exposed to him.

These secrets must never be known to anyone else, not even her closest confidants; she intends to keep them hidden from them for the rest of her life.

It would be unrealistic for her to sever all ties with Xue Yanchen because of this.

Therefore, she planned to find an opportunity to "break up" with Xue Yanchen. If they stopped pretending to be a couple, then Xue Yanchen would have no reasonable reason to visit her often. If they met occasionally, as long as she and Hei Hu concealed it a little, he wouldn't find out anything.

The next morning, Jiang Manyue excitedly came to chat with Luo Jingyan.

"Jingyan, I have something really important to tell you, it's about Du Yinan."

Luo Jingyan seemed to guess what she was going to say, "Look how excited you are, it must be something very gossipy."

“That’s right.” Jiang Manyue smiled and said, “Jingyan, I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but I’ve seen Du Yinan vomiting repeatedly these past two days. When I asked her what was wrong, she said her stomach hurt. Do you think she might be pregnant, and the child might be Fang Zhiyuan’s?”

“I saw it yesterday too. Dry heaving once or twice might mean you're sick, but if you keep vomiting, it could very well mean you're pregnant.”

"Fang Zhiyuan was just arrested, and she got pregnant. What a karmic retribution! The father of the child isn't here. Let's see how she explains this."

Luo Jingyan said, "Perhaps she has already thought of a way to deal with the child."

"Should we abort it?"

"Given her personality, she might do that."

"Then let's see what she does."

In the dormitory, Du Yinan also noticed that she was different from usual.

She wasn't sick, nor had she eaten anything wrong, yet she had been dry heaving for five or six days straight.

When she was at home, her sister-in-law was pregnant and kept gagging and feeling nauseous. She suspected that she might be pregnant with Fang Zhiyuan's child.

Fang Zhiyuan has already been arrested, and she is pregnant at this time, so she has no way to deal with the child.

If the baby cannot be born, an abortion is the only option.

However, abortion is very dangerous. If you go to the hospital, you must be married and have your spouse's consent before the doctor will perform the procedure. Otherwise, premarital pregnancy will be considered immoral and you will be punished accordingly.

Therefore, she only had one option: to get rid of the child herself.

Thinking about this, she hesitated again.

Because abortions performed privately lack medical protection, there is a high risk of severe bleeding that could lead to death.

She was suddenly filled with distress.

Suddenly, she heard a cacophony of voices and arguments outside.

Aunt Hu arrived with Hu Sanqiang, followed by several other women from the village.

Aunt Hu walked to Luo Jingyan's door and said, "Luo Zhiqing, you've been pestering our Sanqiang and you've slept with us, you can't just deny it. Let's talk this out. I brought Sanqiang here today to propose marriage to you. Come out and let's discuss the marriage arrangements."

The older women behind them were all whispering amongst themselves. In the village, this kind of thing would be considered big news, especially since the woman had taken the initiative to seduce the man and they had premarital relations.

The female educated youth in the dormitory all ran out to see what was going on, and the male educated youth were no exception. They were just as interested in this kind of gossip as the female educated youth.

They were also curious as to why Luo Jingyan would fall for Hu Sanqiang.

Hearing the commotion outside, Luo Jingyan went out of the house.

Aunt Hu said, "Jingyan, you're out. Sanqiang and I are here today to discuss your marriage. You've already slept together, so you're definitely his wife. If you get married sooner, you can be together legitimately. I can take good care of you if you marry into the Hu family."

Luo Jingyan knew immediately what kind of trick Aunt Hu was up to.

He falsely accused her of sleeping with his son, ruining her reputation. If she were to succumb to public pressure, she would obediently submit and marry Hu Sanqiang.

It's likely that the villagers here have used similar methods to abduct other girls before.

"Aunt Hu, did you take the wrong medicine this morning? Do you think that just because you open your mouth and spout some nonsense, I'll obediently submit and marry Hu Sanqiang? Do you have any proof that I have something going on with Hu Sanqiang? Please show me your proof."

"Jingyan, what evidence do you need? You like Sanqiang and insisted on sleeping with him. Now that you've already slept with him, how am I supposed to get evidence?"

Back then, the eldest son of the four lame men in their village, who was ugly and deformed, did just that and married a female educated youth.

"I could have said you slept with him, and that you should marry him."

"Oh, Jingyan, you can't talk like that. How am I supposed to put my face? You said my boyfriend is no good, but my Sanqiang is good in that area. You slept with him, so you can't just deny it."

“Aunt Hu, slander and defamation are illegal. If you continue like this, I will report you to the police and have them arrest you.”

Aunt Hu wasn't buying it; she didn't believe the police wouldn't let her say a word.

"Jingyan, stop scaring me. I'm not lying. Stop arguing. If we keep dragging this out and you get pregnant before you get married, it'll be a mess."

"Don't think you can make me marry your son just by saying a few words. You'll only become a daughter-in-law of the Hu family if the sky falls down."

The older women behind her believed Aunt Hu. Compared to the truth, people preferred to watch the drama unfold. Plus, since Aunt Hu and Hu Sanqiang were from the same village, they naturally sided with their own people.

"Girl, just admit it. If you like him, why won't you agree? You're not just trying to get more dowry, are you?"

“Sanqiang’s family is well-off, and they can definitely afford the bride price. Once you marry into their family, you’ll have an easier time working.”

The older women chattered amongst themselves, but Luo Jingyan didn't argue. She pointed at them and said, "You wait here. I'm not going to waste my breath on you. I'm going to call the police to handle this."

She made a move to leave, but Aunt Hu quickly grabbed her, saying, "Jingyan, it won't do you any good by going to the police."

While watching the commotion, Du Yinan took the opportunity to add fuel to the fire, saying, "Luo Zhiqing, you should be responsible for what you did. Others may not have seen it, but I saw you and Hu Sanqiang doing that together with my own eyes. Even if you call the police, I will testify for the Hu family. You should just obediently marry him."

Luo Jingyan smiled faintly: "Du Zhiqing, I didn't want to expose you, but that day, my brother and I saw you and Hu Sanqiang doing something shameful on the mountain. I went to the police station not only to report them for talking nonsense, but also to tell the police about your affair."

"Luo Jingyan, I didn't do that. Don't make up lies and slander me."

"I never talk nonsense. Do you think I would be like you?"

Fearing that others would believe Luo Jingyan's words, Du Yinan quickly defended herself: "You guys."

But after uttering only two words, she suddenly felt nauseous and couldn't help but dry heave.
