Chapter 21
The little white car left as quietly as it had arrived.
Su Ming silently watched until the strange car's rear end was out of sight, then turned around and was startled to find Gang Ge standing behind him.
He frowned slightly: "Brother Gang? When did you arrive?"
"Sorry to scare you. I was going to come over and say hello, but I saw you were chatting and didn't want to disturb you." Gang Ge was surprised. "I didn't expect her to leave after you finished talking. What happened, did you have a fight?"
Su Ming quickly explained, "No, she's very easy to talk to. We just had a good talk. She has her own ideas, and I have my own pursuits. We have different goals."
"Really? What a pity." Gang glanced in the direction the white car had left and said, "By the way, your sister Wen's headache has gotten worse. She's finally managed to fall asleep. I've cleaned up the room next door again. Could you switch rooms with them? It might be a bit of a hassle for you tonight. I thought it would be better if it were closer."
Su Ming readily agreed, "It's alright, I'll pack up and head over right away."
"No, you're a doctor, you can't do these trivial things, leave it to me," Gang quickly stopped him, adding, "I'm completely at ease entrusting the person to you, thank you."
Su Ming hadn't graduated yet and had only done an internship for a while, so he was a little taken aback when people called him "doctor" directly: "Aren't we all family from now on? There's no need to be so polite."
Gang put his arm around him and said, "Yes, yes, we're family. Come on, let me help you with your luggage."
Because of the height difference, Su Ming was like a goose with its wings pinched and its freedom cut off. He could only awkwardly cooperate with the other party, saying, "Thank you, Brother Gang."
Fang Xiaoyu, who had just left, had no idea what Su Ming, who had graduated from her program, would face in the future.
After driving for a few minutes and not seeing any service areas, the first thing she did was free the eldest princess's head from the Elizabethan collar, and the second thing was to untie the chain.
The eldest princess was a little incredulous. She spun around twice in the passenger seat, and when she lay on her paws, she felt that her neck had never felt so comfortable and relaxed.
It waited for a while, but no new shackles appeared. It let out two soft whimpers, as if asking a question.
Su Ming seemed to understand and said, "The restraints were for the safety of others. Now that there's no one else, just the two of us, we don't need those anymore. Believe me, we're the best partners, right?"
In response, the eldest princess barked happily and licked her fingers affectionately.
Su Ming's fingertips itched, and he smiled as he pushed it away: "Let's go, let's set off."
After laughing and joking for two minutes, they restarted the vehicle.
The eldest princess sat regally in the passenger seat, her eyes fixed straight ahead, seemingly trying to discern something from the unchanging road conditions before her.
Its fur was ruffled by the wind blowing in from outside, and its ears twitched from time to time, searching for any movement around it. Fang Xiaoyu saw two words in it: reliable.
She finished the remaining half bottle of water, glancing at it every now and then out of the corner of her eye, secretly laughing to herself.
As I drove, I realized something was wrong.
After driving for less than twenty minutes, her head began to feel dizzy, her eyelids kept drooping, and sleepiness came over her suddenly and overwhelmingly.
What happened? She was clearly getting plenty of rest.
Knowing that she was not in a good condition to continue driving, she pinched her palms and pulled the car over to the side of the road. But before she could come to a complete stop, her head lolled to the side and she fell into a deep sleep.
My memories after that became very confused.
The eldest princess barked, her voice sounding angry, like a threat or a shout.
There were also voices of strangers, some loud, some soft, some male, some female, sometimes near, sometimes far, indistinct and hard to distinguish.
She sensed someone approaching, the car door was moved, and someone even touched her head and patted her face.
She struggled to wake up, but her consciousness sank deeper and deeper.
"Yuanyuan, go and take a look."
"I...I'm afraid of dogs."
"Tsk, so useless."
...
"Unconscious?"
"There's so much stuff, let's take some with us."
"This dog is fierce."
"Ouch, I've been bitten by a dog!"
"Kill it!"
"Hey, what are you doing!"
...
"So cute, it's been guarding me the whole time."
"Could you take a look at this for me?"
"Don't bite me, I'm helping your mom."
"So clever."
"It's nothing, she just fell asleep."
...
She finally opened her eyes halfway and saw a round-faced girl smiling with delight. Before she could react, her consciousness was not truly awakened, and she fell asleep again.
"woke up?"
"He hasn't regained consciousness."
"It seems like an allergic reaction."
"It's time to go."
"Leave a note."
"Don't worry, she has someone watching over her."
People came and went around him, the car door opened and closed, closed and opened again, but only the eldest princess's voice and body temperature remained by his side.
Fang Xiaoyu didn't truly wake up until the morning of the third day.
She opened her eyes, her stomach growling and her head throbbing, and a furry head came close, taking up all her vision.
"Woof woof—"
It chirped happily and nudged her with its head, trying to get her to move around more.
Fang Xiaoyu regained consciousness and, recalling what had happened before, her face darkened: "That bottle of water."
A name popped into my mind: Su Ming?
She denied it the very next second, saying it was impossible.
Thinking about Su Ming's major and his subsequent recruitment, she immediately realized what was going on.
Someone probably thought he was in their way, or wanted to knock Su Ming unconscious and take him away. But the person who plotted probably didn't expect that he would drink the water, leave alone, and that Su Ming had already chosen to stay.
It's a pity I can't get in touch with him and can't go back. Otherwise, as teammates, I could at least give him a heads-up.
However, considering that the other party was able-bodied and not stupid, and that he had been given a car, he wouldn't be unable to run away if things went wrong, so he wasn't too worried.
Seeing that she remained awake and did not open her eyes twice before closing them again, the eldest princess felt relieved and opened her head to the side.
Fang Xiaoyu then saw a note stuck on the steering wheel.
"You didn't know you were allergic to melatonin, did you? Don't take any medication randomly next time."
P.S.: Your dog is really nice, what's its name?
Fang Xiaoyu smiled as she looked at the face. She searched her memory and recalled a round face with crescent-shaped eyes when she smiled, a face that was instantly endearing.
There are still more good people than bad in the world.
She sighed and began to examine the losses.
Seeing the front of the car dented, it looked similar to what happened when I was a child, only not as badly damaged, and it didn't catch fire.
Fang Xiaoyu felt guilty for two seconds.
The little white car has really suffered because of her; not only has it become ugly, but it has also been disfigured and disabled.
She tried to start the engine, but as expected, it wouldn't start properly; the crash seemed to have been quite serious.
What should I do? The video of Teacher Xiao repairing the car is still on my phone, but I didn't understand it at all.
With a worried look on her face, she inspected the supplies again.
The suitcase on top was intact and had not been opened.
One can of gas is missing from the trunk.
Nothing was missing from the back seat, but the items were a bit messy, as if someone had just picked them up and then hurriedly dropped them, only to have them picked up and put back in the car by others. Some of the items even had the eldest princess's teeth marks on them.
After checking, Fang Xiaoyu hugged the eldest princess tightly: "You really are my lucky star! Thanks to you, what do you want to eat? How about a big chicken leg?"
The only response she received was the eldest princess's wagging tail and glistening drool at the corner of its mouth.
