Chapter 30

Chapter 30

The first rain of spring washed away the last bit of coldness and hardness from the road surface.

Fang Xiaoyu felt a chill run through her body.

My mind went blank for a moment, as if I had been hit hard.

What's this? !

Why is the IOU I wrote on the first day I got lost here?!

Wasn't she driving straight ahead?

Could it be that I was distracted one day and didn't notice the wrong turn?

impossible!

Fang Xiaoyu's face turned pale: "Princess, where did you find this note?"

The eldest princess tilted her head, jumped off the carriage, turned around and barked once, then trotted forward a few steps before turning back to look at her, signaling her to follow.

She followed behind, her mind in turmoil.

The eldest princess ran to the gas station and lay down on the back of one of the gas pumps without moving.

This is it!

Fang Xiaoyu took a deep breath and went forward to examine it carefully, but couldn't see anything wrong.

Her mind was a little confused, so she took a few steps back and looked around.

What does the first service area I saw look like?

Could this be the place?

Fang Xiaoyu rubbed her head, trying to help her remember.

But that won't work; I've passed through too many service areas and can't remember them.

She then remembered that she still had the video on her phone that proved her innocence. She frantically opened it, checked it frame by frame, and then breathed a sigh of relief.

The two service areas are different.

That's ridiculous! This service area is so special, how could it be the same as everyone else?!

So don't panic, it might not be what you think.

It doesn't necessarily mean it circled the planet.

It doesn't necessarily mean being trapped in some inexplicable cycle.

The eldest princess whimpered twice and lay on the ground, exposing her belly.

Fang Xiaoyu was lost in thought and didn't notice.

The eldest princess stood up and nudged Fang Xiaoyu's hand, letting her touch her head.

Fang Xiaoyu unconsciously scratched twice, and only realized she had accidentally hurt the eldest princess when she heard a woof.

She quickly apologized and rubbed the sore spot.

The eldest princess quickly forgave her, nuzzled her affectionately again, and ran towards the RV.

By the way, I originally planned to leave in a motorhome.

It's time to go.

Fang Xiaoyu took two steps, then stopped.

Are we just going to leave like this? Aren't we going to do anything?

The eldest princess was still waiting ahead.

Fang Xiaoyu has regained her composure.

She told herself not to panic, to give herself more time, and maybe she would figure out what had happened later.

She took out her phone, took pictures of the layout, especially the place where she found the note, and left a new note in the same spot, then pinned the note to the gas pump.

Then I went to the shopping mall and found floor paint for painting in the miscellaneous goods section.

She then went to a repair shop and made a small modification to the sides of the toy water truck, controlling it with two buttons. Pressing the left button would cause blue paint to drip from the left side, and pressing the right button would cause green paint to drip from the right side—she spent an entire day studying the toy water truck for this small modification.

She decided to leave a mark on the roads she would travel in the future, using one color for the six lanes on the left and another color for the six lanes on the right.

I won't keep driving in a straight line anymore; I'll change lanes every short distance.

Under the streetlights, Fang Xiaoyu led the eldest princess into the RV and drove away in the new car.

Seeing the service area getting further and further away in the rearview mirror, a strange sense of panic began to grip me.

But when you can't see anything at all, everything seems to be the same as usual.

A sweet fragrance lingers in the air, with osmanthus as the main note.

She once talked to Yue Yue about the taste of their hometown, and she was remembered after only mentioning it once.

The new car, the familiar sweet smell, and the warmth of being cared for all seemed to tell her that everything was moving in a positive direction.

But the note had an impact on her no less powerful than a nuclear bomb.

No matter how she tried to console herself, or even with the eldest princess by her side, she still couldn't control having nightmares on her first night in the RV. She woke up in terror, gasping for breath and drenched in cold sweat.

The eldest princess, bewildered, jumped up, left her small room, and followed Fang Xiaoyu out of the RV.

She climbed the stone steps, sat on the soundproof wall, and stared down at the scene below, lost in thought.

Below the highway in the dead of night, there are varying concentrations of black, green, and firefly light. They gather, disperse, linger, and drift, constantly surging—a landscape I had never paid attention to before.

The eldest princess rested quietly to one side, her tail occasionally brushing against Fang Xiaoyu's hand.

She stayed until the sun broke through the clouds before going home, and then she started to have a fever.

Fortunately, she had been exercising regularly, had all the necessary medications in the car, and the blankets were warm, so her fever subsided overnight.

From then on, the eldest princess discovered that Fang Xiaoyu had a new hobby: besides driving, she would sit on it for half a day and often forget to eat.

The eldest princess had no choice but to pull on her sleeves and trouser legs at the appointed time and bring her back to the carriage.

It sighed softly, "What will she do without me? She can't even take care of herself."

Fang Xiaoyu had a stomach spasm, but she didn't feel hungry, so she only prepared food for the eldest princess. Seeing that the princess was eating with relish, she gave a faint smile.

After finishing her meal, the eldest princess would hold her favorite sausage, a bag of bread, or a carton of milk in her mouth, and push it with her leg, indicating that she should eat too.

Then she will eat quietly.

Time passed slowly.

Driving, spacing out, feeding the eldest princess, refueling, stocking up on supplies, and avoiding strangers have become the main themes of life, day after day, as if no change will ever come.

Until one day, the twelve extra-wide lanes suddenly shrank to six in front of her, leaving her, who was used to wide roads, momentarily stunned.

Because she was in the blue area on the left at the time, the blue area was still there, but the remaining green area was completely gone.

Another new, incomprehensible pattern has emerged, expanding and disintegrating suddenly.

My long-dormant heart suddenly stirred with a few sparks of curiosity.

What would have happened if she had been in the middle of the blue and green zones at that time?

Divided in two?

Or does it appear randomly on one side?

It was past noon, and the sunlight was just right.

She slowly climbed the stone steps, found a place to sit down, and continued to daydream day after day, her mind filled with uncertain questions.

I sat there until the chill of the wind outweighed the warmth of the sun. Just as I was about to get up and leave, I suddenly heard someone below faintly calling for help.

? ?

Fang Xiaoyu subconsciously looked back down, and there was no other car or person on the entire road except for her RV.

Did I hear that right?

"Help! Is anyone there?"

Fang Xiaoyu heard the sound again and confirmed that the intermittent sound was coming from below.

She listened carefully to the direction, and an unbelievable possibility occurred to her. She leaned out of the soundproof wall and her eyes slowly widened.
