Chapter 11 Why did she go there?

Lin Ran looked around and saw nothing but weeds and bushes, with a few purple and white wildflowers in between.

As for the mountain?

It was completely covered by lush trees. There must be food there, but it was also dangerous and was not a place the two little girls could go.

Finally, she had no choice but to turn and look at Zheng Sanya.

"Saya, are you sure there are wild vegetables here?"

Zheng Sanya nodded affirmatively.

"You can find them here too, but they're a little rare. But I know a place where there are a lot of mushrooms, and it seems no one has discovered them yet. I often go there to pick them."

"Sister Ranran, come with me."

This made Lin Ran hesitate.

That place is obviously Zheng Sanya's secret base. I have enough food, so wouldn't it be bad to snatch mushrooms from her?

She originally thought there were a lot of wild vegetables and mushrooms in the mountains, so she agreed to come pick them with her.

But before she could say anything, Zheng Sanya seemed to understand Lin Ran's hesitation and simply grabbed her arm and left.

"Sister Ranran, this is the first time someone plays with me, so please come with me."

Hearing this, Lin Ran's heart softened and she no longer refused, following Zheng Sanya's strength and moving forward.

At worst, she could just take a little less as a token of appreciation. She didn't lack these wild vegetables and mushrooms anyway, so she could just smuggle some out of the space when she went back.

Next, Zheng Sanya took Lin Ran for a walk around the foot of the mountain. Surprisingly, they actually dug up a basket of fresh wild vegetables.

After they had almost dug up all the wild vegetables, Zheng Sanya took Lin Ran to move and continued walking up the mountain.

Lin Ran thought she was going to go up the mountain and wanted to persuade her, but when she saw Zheng Sanya stopped before climbing very high, she kept silent.

Immediately afterwards, Lin Ran saw Zheng Sanya start to dig out the dead branches and leaves from the cracks in the rocks, and then saw a crack in the rocks half a person's height gradually appear.

Zheng Sanya raised her dirty little face and grinned at Lin Ran.

"Sister Ranran, it's in here. We'll see it once we get in."

Lin Ran looked at it carefully. It was no wonder that no one had discovered such a secret entrance.

If the dead branches and leaves were not cleared away, others would think that the road was blocked by huge rocks and would be impossible to pass.

After Zheng Sanya finished speaking, she took the lead and went in. She was small in stature, so she just bent her knees slightly to get in. However, Lin Ran had a slender figure, so it was easy for her to bend over and get in.

Lin Ran felt a cool breeze as soon as she entered. This place was originally in the shade, and now it was blocked by rocks and trees. Even the soil on the ground was wet. No wonder fungi grew easily there.

Sure enough, Zheng Sanya over there was already shouting excitedly.

"Sister Ranran, come quickly, there are so many mushrooms here!"

When Lin Ran walked over, she saw a bunch of large mushrooms that looked like umbrellas. There were red, white, gray, and even silver ones. They looked quite beautiful.

She didn't recognize these mushrooms, but she knew that many of them were poisonous.

Zheng Sanya began to give Lin Ran some scientific knowledge. Although she couldn't name the mushrooms scientifically, she knew which ones were edible and which ones were not.

"Sister Ranran, you must not eat silver and red mushrooms like these. I heard from the aunties in the village that eating them will make you lie down."

"And there are mushrooms that turn green when you touch them and have to be cooked before you can eat them."

"I remember one time I was so hungry that I couldn't resist eating a small one. Then I felt dizzy all over and saw a lot of little people calling me to play. I didn't feel better until the next day. I even got a beating from my parents."

Speaking of this, Zheng Sanya felt a little disappointed and no longer had the excitement she had when she saw the mushrooms before.

Lin Ran also learned from her memory what kind of life Zheng San Ya lived in the Zheng family. To put it bluntly, she might even be worse than a dog.

Zheng Sanya was assigned to do housework by her family since she was able to walk. After she grew up, she took on all the housework at home.

Even so, the Zheng family would beat and scold her whenever they were unhappy.

If you say that Zheng's father and mother favor boys over girls, Zheng Sanya has two older sisters. Although they also have to do housework, they are not like Zheng Sanya, who either beats or scolds her.

When Lin Ran thought of this, she didn't know how to comfort Zheng Sanya, so she took out a piece of cloud cake and handed it to her.

"Saya, don't think about those unhappy things. Look at all the mushrooms here. Let's eat something first, and then hurry up and start mining!"

Zheng Sanya, who was originally immersed in sadness, saw the snow-white pastry and subconsciously swallowed her saliva, and her stomach began to rumble.

She covered her stomach a little embarrassedly and took a few steps back.

"Sister Ranran, I'm not hungry. You can keep these precious white flour cakes for yourself."

Lin Ran didn't waste any time talking to her and directly stuffed the cloud cake into her mouth.

"It's okay, I still have some. This one is for you to eat. Consider it your reward for bringing me here to pick mushrooms. If it weren't for you, where would I find mushrooms?"

By the time Zheng Sanya reacted, the cloud cake was already in her mouth. She hurriedly took it out, her face flushed with anxiety.

"How can this be possible? The mushrooms on the mountain are worthless!"

Lin Ran also picked up a piece of cloud cake and ate it while saying:

"It's already in your mouth, and I don't want it back. You can do whatever you want."

Zheng Sanya saw that the pastry was already stained with her saliva and had no choice but to hold it carefully for fear that it would fall to the ground.

Lin Ran urged again,

"Eat quickly, then we'll go pick mushrooms."

Zheng Sanya was reluctant to eat it, but she thought that if she took it back and was discovered, she would definitely not have any share. This was given to her by her sister Ranran, and she didn't want to give it to her brother.

Thinking of this, Zheng Sanya finally started to eat the pastry in small bites. As soon as the pastry entered her mouth, her big eyes lit up. It was so sweet!

But as she ate, her eyes began to feel sore and tears began to fall.

"Sister Ranran, thank you, the pastries are so delicious!"

In fact, she also wanted to say, Sister Ranran, you are the first person who is so nice to me!

But she was embarrassed to say it.

Seeing that her already dirty little face was now a mess because of tears, Lin Ran sighed softly, picked up the handkerchief and gently wiped her face.

After wiping it thoroughly, he rubbed her head and said:

"Let's go, let's go pick mushrooms."

Next, the two of them quickly picked up all the edible mushrooms nearby. Lin Ran was simply infected by Zheng Sanya's enthusiasm.

So after picking all the mushrooms, Lin Ran was exhausted.

She was the eldest daughter of a marquisate, yet she had never done any work before, let alone for such a long time.

At this time, she no longer cared about etiquette and sat down on a stone to rest.

Zheng Sanya smiled secretly when she saw this, but she didn't disturb Lin Ran and picked the mushrooms by herself.

Lin Ran felt better after resting for a while. Seeing that Zheng Sanya had almost finished picking up the mushrooms, she stood up and prepared to go home.

But as soon as she stood up, she saw an acquaintance at the foot of the mountain through the gaps between the branches.

Isn’t that my cousin?

How did she get there?
