Chapter 43: No one comes to the temple for no reason

If Lin Ran knew that Wang Zhaodi was blaming her for so much, she would definitely cry out that it was unfair. She could never have guessed that Wang Zhaodi wanted to pick mushrooms and sell them for money.

When the Lin family had cleaned up the dishes and were about to go back to their rooms to rest, Old Mrs. Lin came over with the second family.

When Lin Weiguo saw Old Lady Lin coming, he quickly stood up to greet her.

"Mom, second brother, second sister-in-law, why are you here so late?"

Following behind them were Lin Meng and Lin Ye.

As soon as Lin Ye entered the door, he rushed into Lin Ran's arms like a little cannonball.

He blinked his big eyes and looked at Lin Ran eagerly.

"Cousin, do you have any sweet candies?"

He was still thinking about the rock sugar that Lin Ran gave him last time.

Coincidentally, Lin Ran really has it.

It was the White Rabbit milk candy that Qin Jianye gave her during the day. She ate one out of curiosity and her mouth was full of milky aroma. It tasted quite good.

There were only two in total, and there was one last one in her pocket. She took it out and handed it to Lin Ye without saying a word.

However, she seemed to have seen similar candies when she was looking for books in the space storage room before.

I guess it was stockpiled by our ancestors.

It seems that when I have nothing to do in the future, I can study the supplies stored by my ancestors. Maybe there will be some unexpected surprises.

Lin Ye's mouth watered when he saw the White Rabbit milk candy, and he jumped up and down with excitement.

"Wow...it's White Rabbit Milk Candy, cousin, you're the best!"

As he spoke, he quickly stuffed the candy into his mouth.

Second Aunt Lin, also known as Li Guilan, saw Lin Ran casually taking out the White Rabbit candy, her eyes flickered slightly, and then she pretended to be ashamed and said:

"It turns out that my eldest brother and his wife's family are better off. They even have White Rabbit candy."

"It's not like our family, where we can't even get enough porridge to fill us up. We don't mind that, but it's unfair for Mom to have to live through hard times with us."

Lin Weiguo became anxious when he heard this. Just as he was about to ask what was going on, Shen Wenfang spoke first and showed concern:

"What's going on? Didn't we just send Mom five kilograms of rice and fifty kilograms of sweet potatoes this month? Why is Mom living in poverty? Did you and your wife eat all that food?"

Lin Weiguo couldn't hear it, but she and Li Guilan had been sisters-in-law for so many years, so how could she not be aware of her little tricks?

When the Lin Wei couple heard this, a look of guilt flashed across their faces, and they didn't know how to refute for a moment.

In the end, it was Old Mrs. Lin who spoke up to help Lin Wei and his wife out of the predicament.

"Isn't it okay if I take the initiative to give it to Yebao? Yebao is still so young and in the growth stage. How can he not eat enough?"

Shen Wenfang rolled his eyes secretly after hearing this. Who started the trouble first?

"Mom, since we've given you the food, you can do whatever you want with it. We definitely have no objection."

"It's because my second brother's wife came and told me you were having a hard time that we were worried and asked more questions. We were also worried that someone would cut your food!"

This made Li Guilan unhappy.

"Hey, sister-in-law, what do you mean by that? When did we ever withhold Mom's food? Explain yourself to me clearly."

Shen Wenfang didn't tolerate her either.

"Didn't you say that in a sarcastic tone the moment you arrived? So we're wrong to be concerned about Mom?"

This left Li Guilan speechless. She wasn't talking about food, so she had no choice but to retreat.

"I just felt sorry for our mom when I saw Ran easily pull out a White Rabbit candy. I thought, at her age, she might not even know what White Rabbit candy tastes like."

Shen Wenfang sneered, and she knew that this person's conjunctivitis had recurred.

"This candy was given to Ranran by the second son of the Qin family today to congratulate her on becoming a scorekeeper. There were only two of them, and now he's given one to your son. What? Are you still not satisfied with this? When will you grow up to be as sensible as your age?"

"you!"

Li Guilan was completely speechless. Even Old Lady Lin felt ashamed when she saw it. Was it worth it just for two candies?

But Li Guilan didn't know that the candies were given by someone else, and there were only two of them. She thought they were bought by the eldest wife.

Thinking that they had money to buy candies but didn't even give some to their second wife, she couldn't help but speak up.

But even if I misunderstood, listen to what Shen Wenfang said? Did she say that I was narrow-minded?

Li Guilan immediately put her hands on her hips and prepared to have a good talk with Shen Wenfang.

It was Lin Meng who quickly stopped them. She pulled Li Guilan's arm and made eye contact for a long time, finally reminding the couple of their real purpose of coming so late.

Thinking that they still had something to ask for, Li Guilan didn't dare to make a fuss anymore. She took several deep breaths and suppressed her anger.

Then Lin Weijia stepped forward to smooth things over:

"Hey, we're all family, so it's okay to have a few words occasionally to liven things up. Okay, okay, let's all sit down and have a good chat."

Seeing that they had given in, Shen Wenfang was not the type to hold on to them. He turned around and asked Lin Laosan to go into the house and move some stools.

After everyone sat down, Lin Weiguo started asking again.

"Mom, second brother, why are you here so late?"

Upon hearing this, the people from the second house looked at each other and then looked at Old Lady Lin eagerly.

Old Mrs. Lin put her hands on her hair with an unnatural look, then spoke:

"I came here today about the scorekeeper."

Upon hearing this, Lin Weiguo thought they were here to be happy for Lin Ran, and quickly replied with a smile:

"It's not a big deal. There's no need for you all to come here together. But Ranran did really well today. I didn't expect her to get a perfect score."

Later on, Lin Weiguo couldn't help but praise his daughter, his tone full of pride.

Seeing her eldest son like this, Mrs. Lin couldn't say anything else.

She was embarrassed for a moment, then turned her gaze to Lin Ran and grabbed Lin Ran's hand with a loving look on her face.

"Ranran, you said you were so fair and tender at home, why did you suddenly want to go to work? Did they force you to go? Tell grandma and she will make the decision for you."

This was the first time Lin Ran saw Old Lady Lin since she traveled through time.

I saw that she had short gray hair that reached her ears, age spots on her face, and deep forehead wrinkles.

But her hands, like dead branches, were holding him tightly, and Lin Ran keenly felt that they were not here to congratulate him.

So he pretended to be well-behaved and said:

"Grandma, no one forced me to do this. I just grew up on my own. Seeing my parents working so hard every day while I rested at home all day, I felt very ashamed and wanted to share some of the burden with them."

Grandma Lin was a little surprised to hear Lin Ran say this, but she soon looked relieved.

"Our little girl Ran has really grown up and now knows how to be considerate of her parents. She's so sensible!"
