Chapter 19 Merit +1

Children nowadays mature early.

In the 21st century, Hua Wanchi was in her twenties but still had the mentality of a child, so Wan Qingliu was a little tolerant of his other children.

Hua Wanli was only seventeen years old and was just a child to Wan Qingliu.

She did not discourage the other party's immature ideas.

He just said, "Don't worry, wait until the busy farming season is over, call your parents over, and we'll discuss it together."

Fang Jianzhong's parents are unreliable, so Hua Aihua and his wife have to come.

Hua Wanli seemed to have found some support in her heart and nodded.

In the evening, Wan Qingliu went to work in the fields and unexpectedly saw Hua Jixiang, who had a dejected expression on his face.

"Jixiang, didn't your wife give birth? Why don't you take care of her and the baby in the hospital?"

Hua Jixiang said angrily, "I gave birth to a money-losing thing, what's the point of taking care of it! I'm lucky I didn't drown that little thing!"

Wan Qingliu recalled the scene in the morning when she went to the hospital and Brother Zhang Wang gave birth to a daughter and Hua Jixiang's family made an ugly scene. She clicked her tongue twice.

When Hua Jixiang and his mother heard that it was a girl, they grabbed the doctor by the collar and shouted that the doctor had stolen his son!

Fortunately, the fellow villagers who were traveling with them pulled Hua Jixiang and the others away.

Hua Jixiang's unreasonable behavior really brought shame to his fellow villagers.

Now the situation is like this again. Everyone is having trouble getting enough food to eat, and I don’t know whether Hua Jixiang’s daughter can be supported.

Shaking his head, Wan Qingliu offered some advice: "After all, she's your first child. Isn't your daughter also yours?"

Hua Jixiang glanced at Wan Qingliu and said dissatisfiedly:

"What are your family's conditions like? Raising a granddaughter to entertain you is no pressure. Our family is different. We're just looking forward to having our son take care of us in our old age! It's easy to talk when you're not feeling the pain!"

Oh no, before I could even express my kind concern, Wan Qingliu already said a few more unnecessary words.

"You are so ungrateful! I don't even want to bother with you."

Wan Qingliu didn't tolerate him. He rolled his eyes at him, cursed at him, and left with his hoe.

Hua Jixiang dared to be angry but not to move. His body, which had been deprived of oil for years, could not compare with the strong and well-nourished body of the old Hua family. If he went up, he would just be asking for a beating.

Seeing Wan Qingliu and his wife walking away, Hua Jixiang spat and cursed, "You nosy old woman!"

County hospital.

Brother Zhang Wang's face was pale, and his lifeless eyes stared blankly at his newborn daughter in his arms. His mother-in-law's cursing never stopped in his ears, and tears rolled down his face uncontrollably.

"You useless bitch! You can't even give birth to a son! All the food you've eaten from our house is wasted!"

"Cry? You still have the nerve to cry?"

My mother-in-law's drooping eyelids suddenly widened, her face showed a mean expression, and her curses were sharp and piercing.

"You useless thing! You still want me to take care of you during your confinement? Just walk back home by yourself!"

Passing doctors and nurses paused to listen, shaking their heads. This sort of thing happens all the time in hospitals. But every time you hear it, it's painful.

"Mom," a pleading look appeared on Zhang Wangge's face, "I can do anything, but the baby is a lucky seed! At least..."

As he spoke, his voice became less confident: "At least give us something to eat! The baby needs milk!"

"Mind your own little devil!"

After saying this, mother-in-law Chen Ya packed up the gifts from the villagers and left without leaving any for her daughter-in-law lying on the hospital bed.

She doesn't care about the life or death of Brother Zhang Wang and this little thing. How dare she ask for food after giving birth to a daughter?

Damn, it makes me sad when I think about the chicken soup I specially made.

There was no way out. The man left her and went back to the village. The mother-in-law no longer cared about her. Zhang Wangge couldn't afford the hospital bills alone, so she had to leave the hospital with the child.

She looked at the frail baby in her arms with worry and whispered:

"Baby, there's nothing I can do. Whether you can survive depends on God's will."

For a day and a night, Zhang Wangge drank some chicken soup when she gave birth, but the baby had not eaten anything, and now she had no milk to feed.

She could only watch the baby in her arms grow weaker and weaker while walking home in tears.

She had never felt that this road was so long. It seemed that she would never reach the end as she walked and walked.

It was six o'clock, and Hua Wanchi squatted in the space on time.

When the time came, Hua Wanchi couldn't wait to shout, "Sign in."

She signed in three times last night and this morning at noon, all of which were fertilizers and feeds to increase production. She was looking forward to what would be signed in tonight.

Who understands the joy of opening a blind box? She can't do anything now, so she can only wait for the sign-in blind box three times a day.

"Successful sign-in. Item obtained: Newborn's Redemption."

[Redemption of a Newborn: Decadent notions sum up these four light words, yet behind them lie the heavy burden of wronged souls. Originally, she was destined for a tragic fate. But now, a new hope has emerged. She was born in Dafang Village, where a fellow villager named Wanchi can help her! Note: After using this, the equivalent amount of food consumed by Wanchi will be deducted, and one point of merit will be gained daily.]

ah?

Hua Wanchi's little head was full of doubts.

Decadent ideas? Heavy burdens of wronged souls?

How could she not understand these words when put together? Why were her rations withheld?

What is the use of merit?

Never mind, it’s just some food, she has plenty, use it!

Merit is a good thing, and it is better to have it than not to have it. Maybe if she has more merit, she can live a life without illness or disaster and enjoy great fortune.

The supplies in her space are more than enough to feed not only the baby but also many adults!
