Chapter 16 I Don’t Accept Starting from Scratch

Pushing the door open, Gu Youran saw a middle-aged man sitting at the desk.

He is in his forties, tall, imposing and very impressive.

The man looked up at her at the same time, "Are you Gu Youran? My junior sister."

"Hello, Dean Dong! I'm Gu Youran."

"Great, great, finally you're here." Dean Dong stood up excitedly and walked around the table to her.

"Three years ago, the teacher often mentioned you, but unfortunately we never had the chance to meet. Now you are finally here, welcome to join us!"

Dean Dong extended his right hand, and Gu Youran also quickly extended his right hand. The two shook hands gently, and then politely let go.

Dean Dong's face was filled with satisfaction. "I've seen your resume at John Hospital. It's excellent."

"I plan to have you work in cardiac surgery. After all, you've been working in cardiac surgery at John's Hospital."

"What do you think?"

"No problem." Gu Youran answered straightforwardly.

"Okay, then I'll take you to see Director Xie from the First Department of Cardiac Surgery."

Dean Dong said this and led her out of the office.

Along the way, Director Dong introduced her to the general situation of the hospital and the characteristics of cardiac surgery.

Cardiac Surgery is divided into three independent departments: Cardiac Surgery I, Cardiac Surgery II, and Cardiac Surgery III.

These three departments have their own strengths, but the Department of Cardiac Surgery has significant advantages in complex heart surgery, especially coronary artery bypass grafting, which is also a major feature of the hospital.

Soon, the two arrived at the fifth floor of Building 3 where the Department of Cardiac Surgery was located.

The air is filled with the smell of disinfectant, and the whispers of patients can be heard from time to time, interweaving into a unique picture of the hospital.

When we arrived at the door of the Department of Cardiology I office, the room was brightly lit and the medical staff were holding a morning meeting.

Through the half-open door, you can see a group of medical staff sitting in a circle, their expressions focused.

The middle-aged woman sitting in the first seat had a stern expression on her face as she examined the report in her hand.

Dean Dong gently pushed the door open and nodded politely.

Everyone in the room stood up immediately, and the atmosphere instantly became solemn.

The middle-aged woman raised her eyes from the report and met Dean Dong's gaze. She nodded slightly as a greeting.

Dean Dong introduced, "Director Xie, this is the new doctor, Dr. Gu. I showed you her information earlier. She just returned from studying abroad and is an excellent all-round surgeon."

Dean Dong's tone was full of approval.

Hearing this, Xie Wanqing curled up the corners of her mouth into a faint, almost invisible smile, which contained some profound meaning.

"Oh, Dr. Gu, I've long heard of you. I hope your arrival can bring new vitality to our Department of Cardiology."

Gu Youran responded politely, but was keenly aware that Director Xie's attitude was obviously not as friendly as it appeared.

Gu Youran secretly reminded herself that working here in the future might not be too smooth.

Dean Dong did not stay any longer and left in a hurry due to other matters.

Before leaving, he specifically left his phone number to Gu Youran, and repeatedly told her that if she needed help with anything, she could come directly to him.

Gu Youran nodded in thanks, feeling warm inside like the spring sunshine.

Xie Wanqing frowned slightly when she saw this scene, and her dissatisfaction increased even more.

In her opinion, a doctor who has only been practicing medicine for three years and whose experience working abroad is just that, is not enough to prove her outstanding ability.

However, Xie Wanqing overlooked the fact that the John Hospital where Gu Youran worked was one of the world's top medical institutions, and this background itself was a recognition of her professional ability.

The morning meeting continued. Gu Youran sat in a corner, listening attentively to each colleague's speech, his eyes focused and bright.

Half an hour later, the morning meeting ended and everyone got up and left.

Gu Youran was left alone.

Xie Wanqing looked at her with complicated eyes.

"Doctor Gu, your performance in cardiac surgery at a foreign hospital is indeed excellent. But I must remind you that the medical environment in China is different from that abroad. Many requirements and conditions cannot be compared with those abroad."

"Since you have chosen to work in the country, you must accept the arrangements here and start from scratch."

"What do you think?"

Gu Youran was a little surprised when he heard this.

Before she left John's Hospital, she had already become a capable surgeon, with a title equivalent to that of a chief physician in China.

In her three years as a doctor, she performed 425 operations and became a well-known talented and versatile surgeon in the hospital.

Now that I am here, the director tells me that I have to start from scratch.

Gu Youran was silent, looking straight into Xie Wanqing's eyes, and the air suddenly froze.

She took a deep breath and said calmly, "I refuse to start from scratch."

After saying that, she turned and walked out of the office, leaving Xie Wanqing standing there in a daze.

Gu Youran came to a relatively secluded corridor and dialed a number.

Building 3, 8th floor, in the office of Department of Cardiac Surgery II.

Dean Dong is discussing matters related to the purchase of newly purchased equipment with Lin Hao.

Lin Hao, 29 years old, is the youngest director of the hospital. He returned from studying abroad two years ago and is the technical pillar of the Department of Cardiac Surgery II.

He was tall, handsome, and had neat short hair. Even though he was wearing the most ordinary white coat, it was difficult to conceal his unique abstinence.

In the hospital, he was like a flower in the sky. To exaggerate a little, nine out of ten nurses in the hospital had special feelings for him, and the remaining one was married.

Suddenly, Dean Dong's cell phone rang. Seeing the phone number displayed on it, he answered it immediately.

"Junior sister." Dean Dong greeted her warmly.

Lin Hao next to him raised his eyebrows and listened carefully. The person who could be called "Junior Sister" by the dean was definitely not a simple character.

As the phone conversation deepened, Dean Dong's expression became increasingly gloomy.

"You don't want to be in Cardiac Surgery? You want to change departments? Where are you now?"

"Okay, I'll come down to you right away, just wait a moment."

Dean Dong hung up the phone and hurried out with a sullen face.

Seeing this, Lin Hao followed closely.

He was eager to know who this person was who could refuse the invitation from the Department of Cardiology and yet was the person that Dean Dong paid so much attention to.

"What are you doing here?" Dean Dong glanced at him irritably.

Lin Hao said shamelessly and seriously, "My work report is not finished yet. Naturally, I have to wait until the leader finishes dealing with the matter before continuing with the report."

Dean Dong shook his head helplessly, ignored him, and took the elevator directly to the fifth floor to find where Gu Youran was.

"Junior Sister!" Dean Dong started shouting from a distance.

Gu Youran turned around and saw Dean Dong walking towards her quickly with concern on his face.

"What's going on? Don't be impatient, just tell me slowly." Dean Dong came and stood in front of her.

Gu Youran glanced at the young man next to Dean Dong and said nothing.

The young man immediately understood and introduced himself: "I am the director of the Second Department of Cardiac Surgery, Lin Hao."

Gu Youran nodded slightly in response.

She repeated exactly what Xie Wanqing had said to her, word for word.

I want to emphasize this again.

“I don’t accept starting from scratch.”
