When Han Shuyi heard this, his face turned pale instantly, his eyes widened, and his voice trembled.
"You... what did you say? Eighty million? How is that possible? I've never even met you. What's going on here? Am I being tricked?"
Gu Youran crossed his arms and looked at her calmly, "Scheming? It's just your own desire for beauty. Back then, you were looking for ways to lose weight. As long as you could become beautiful, money wasn't a problem for you at all."
"Mr. Lu's shop has accepted your job, using the skills I taught him. Naturally, I will also get a share of your money. My, Gu Youran's, medical skills are worth this price."
Han Shuyi was so angry that he gritted his teeth, but he had no way to refute.
Several young men and women around witnessed this scene and looked embarrassed.
Han Shuyi felt that he had lost all face today.
In the end, he could only glare at Gu Youran hatefully, turned around and left in shame, his back looking like a defeated rooster.
Gu Youran looked at Han Shuyi's departing back and sighed heavily. Her heart was filled with bitterness and boredom, which seemed to be completely drowning her.
She dragged her heavy legs step by step to the garden bench and slowly sat down.
Then, he closed his eyes powerlessly, trying to find a moment of peace in this quiet place and calm his troubled mind.
I don’t know how long it took.
The sound of footsteps approaching from afar broke the silence.
Gu Youran opened her eyes tiredly, and the person she saw was Han Jingchen.
However, after not seeing each other for more than a month, Han Jingchen seemed to have been reborn. He was much thinner, his face became more angular, and there was a bit more maturity and stability in his eyes.
A well-tailored suit makes him look more heroic and energetic.
"You Ran, it's really you."
When Han Jingchen first saw Gu Youran, his eyes lit up with surprise.
"I didn't expect to meet you here."
Han Jingchen took two steps at a time and walked up to Gu Youran. His eyes roamed over her body, full of concern. "How have you been lately?"
Gu Youran was filled with frustration and grievance at the moment and had no place to vent, so she didn't want to pay any attention to Han Jingchen at all.
She turned her head away and looked away, responding to him in this cold way.
However, Han Jingchen seemed to ignore her indifference and said to himself, "You Ran, I see you're in a bad mood. Did you... have a quarrel with Shi Heng?"
He paused, as if mustering great courage, a trace of struggle and entanglement flashed in his eyes, and his lips opened and closed slightly, repeating this several times, before he finally spoke with difficulty, "Actually, I've been thinking about it."
"If you break up with him, if you are willing, I... I hope you can come back to me."
When Gu Youran heard this, her body suddenly stiffened. She turned around and stared at Han Jingchen with disbelief in her eyes. "What did you say?"
Han Jingchen felt a little guilty when he saw her look, but he still continued to speak: "I know, I was a bastard before, and I failed your deep affection for me."
"When I was at my lowest point, confined to a wheelchair, you stayed with me and took care of me for three years. But I... stood you up on the day we got our marriage certificate."
"I'm such a complete idiot."
At this point, his eyes reddened slightly, and his voice became choked with sobs. "But it's different now, You Ran. I've come to my senses, and I regret it."
"If I were given another chance, I swear, I would never ignore you like I did before. I would hold you in my hands, hold you in my heart, and spend the rest of my life making up for the mistakes I once made."
Gu Youran listened to him quietly, but a sneer appeared on the corner of her mouth.
There was no warmth in that smile, as if it could freeze the air around it in an instant.
"Han Jingchen, what you said is so beautiful." Her voice was filled with endless sarcasm and sadness.
"Why, do you think I'd be stupid enough to come back to you and continue being your free babysitter and full-time caregiver?"
"What do you think of me, Gu Youran? An object that can be summoned and dismissed at will?"
"No, Youran, you misunderstood. That's not what I meant..."
Han Jingchen looked panicked and quickly waved his hands to explain.
"Enough!" Gu Youran stood up suddenly and interrupted him, with flames of anger burning in her eyes.
"You only know that I took good care of you for three years, but do you know? I have loved you for eight years! For you, I gave up my high-paying job at John's Hospital."
Gu Youran closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them again, her eyes full of determination. "Han Jingchen, let's stop here. Just think of it as me being blind and misjudging you."
"I finally came out of that painful memory and met Shi Heng. Han Jingchen, do you know how utterly different you are from him?"
"Shi Heng treasured my dream, integrated it into his life, and devoted all his efforts to realize it. Han Jingchen, ask yourself, can you achieve even one ten-thousandth of it?"
"Han Jingchen, you have completely missed me. There is no chance anymore."
Han Jingchen seemed to have lost all his strength. His body swayed and his face turned as pale as paper.
He stared at Gu Youran's resolute back as she left, his hands hanging limply at his sides, his eyes filled with despair and regret. He muttered to himself, "How is this possible? How could Youran have loved me for eight years... Did we meet in Country Y?"
"Oh my God, what did I do... I pushed her away with my own hands. I don't have another chance..."
In the shadows not far away, Tan Fei and Jiang Yuan witnessed all this.
