The car window slowly lowered, and the cold wind blew across Mu Xuewei's cheek, bringing with it the familiar breath of the city.
She quietly looked out the window at the rapidly receding street scene.
Neon lights are flashing, tall buildings are standing tall, everything is the same as when I left, yet it seems completely different.
"That's great." She murmured softly, a faint smile on the corner of her lips, and her voice was almost blown away by the wind.
It's been a month.
For thirty whole days and nights, every moment was like a sharp blade, carving indelible marks on her heart.
Now, she is finally back.
Returning to the city that once gave her glory and then trampled her into the mud.
Memories flooded back.
Those harsh sneers, those contemptuous looks, and those rumors that pulled her down from the clouds.
There was also the excruciating pain every time the blade cut through the flesh on the operating table in Country Y, and every late night when I curled up and trembled in pain after the anesthesia wore off.
Her fingertips gently stroked the side of her face.
What you touch is no longer the original outline, but the perfect arc after careful carving.
Every inch of change is soaked in blood and pain.
"It's worth it." She looked at herself in the rearview mirror, the corners of her lips slightly raised, but her eyes were cold.
What was reflected in the mirror was no longer the eldest daughter of the Mu family who had fled the capital in a panic, but a being who had been reborn from the ashes.
This time, she not only wants to regain her lost dignity, but also make those who have trampled on her pay a thousand times the price.
…
The other side.
Shi Heng and Gu Youran returned to the box together.
Gu Youran sat back in her original position naturally, picked up a piece of marinated beef and dipped it in the red soup.
When she looked up, she found Shi Heng still standing at the door, looking at her seriously.
"What's wrong?" She put the cooked meat slices into the bowl.
Shi Heng slowly approached, calmed himself down, pulled out a chair and sat down.
Under the light, her face was still bright and charming, and the left corner of her eye was clean, without the glaring cinnabar teardrop mole.
Gu Youran keenly noticed his strangeness, put down her chopsticks, and reached out to cover the back of his hand. "Why are your hands so cold? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
Her palm was warm, and the familiar touch brought Shi Heng back to his senses a little.
He held her with his backhand, unconsciously increasing the strength a little, as if to confirm something.
"Just now……"
He paused, his eyes glancing at the corner of her left eye, then quickly looked away, "I saw someone who looked exactly like you."
"Exactly like me?" Gu Youran paused with his chopsticks and suddenly smiled. "Is there another me in this world?"
Her tone was relaxed, but her fingertips curled unconsciously.
Shi Heng did not miss this little action.
He stared into her eyes and said slowly, "There is a red teardrop mole in the corner of her left eye."
The box suddenly became quiet.
Gu Youran's smile froze on her face, and her pupils shrank slightly for a moment.
The next second, she suddenly leaned closer to Shi Heng, with her nose almost touching his.
"Then take a closer look, do I have it?"
Her breath brushed against his lips, carrying with it the faint sweet scent of loquat dew.
Too close.
Shi Heng could clearly see the curvature of her eyelashes and even the tiny hairs on her skin.
There is indeed no red teardrop mole.
But her reaction was too deliberate.
"Maybe I saw it wrong."
He finally chose to give in, but secretly noted her stiffness for a moment.
Gu Youran continued to eat the meat as if nothing had happened. "You must be hallucinating because you've been too tired from work lately. I'll make you some soup tomorrow to nourish you."
Shi Heng hummed, and out of the corner of his eye he saw her smoothing her hair with her left hand.
That was her little habit when she was nervous.
Shi Heng picked up a piece of beef, but stopped his chopsticks in mid-air.
He suddenly asked, "Have you changed the perfume you use?"
Gu Youran's hand, which was washing the tripe, paused slightly.
She raised her head and said doubtfully, "I've always been using the 'Seven Days of Dreams' gentian flower you gave me."
As he spoke, he raised his wrist and shook it, and the familiar scent of gentian flowers spread out.
Shi Heng picked up the loquat juice and drank it all in one gulp. The cold liquid slid down his throat, but it couldn't suppress the doubts that were surging in his heart.
"What's wrong? Why are you asking this suddenly?"
Gu Youran tilted her head to look at him, her chopsticks unconsciously drawing circles in the bowl of dipping sauce.
Heat rose between the two of them, blurring each other's expressions.
Shi Heng looked at the beef in the bowl that was gradually cooling down, and suddenly felt that the meal was tasteless.
Silence spread in the box.
Almost at the same time, the same name came to their minds.
Nine Stars.
…
The next morning, Kangrui Hospital.
Gu Youran arrived at the clinic on time.
Chen Xiaoyu and Zhuoran are ready to see the patients.
"Teacher Gu, all the appointments today are for old patients."
Chen Xiaoyu handed over the warm health tea, "Director Si specifically instructed that Patient No. 3 requires special attention."
Gu Youran nodded, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the edge of the teacup.
"Doctor Gu?"
Zhuoran reminded softly, "Patient No. 1 has arrived."
The medical consultation work proceeded step by step.
As usual, Gu Youran asked the patient about his symptoms and prescribed medicine.
But Chen Xiaoyu still discovered something unusual.
"Teacher Gu, would you like to take a break?"
Taking advantage of the patient's absence, Chen Xiaoyu asked worriedly, "You've been staring at the same page of medical records for five minutes."
Gu Youran suddenly came back to his senses and realized that the pen in his hand had left an ink stain on the medical record.
She forced a smile and said, "It's okay. Maybe I didn't get enough rest last night."
When the clock struck eleven, the registration system showed that there was only one patient left.
