Gu Youran picked up a laser pointer, walked to the screen, and pointed at a data node. "If we add a trace amount of selenium derivatives to the nerve growth factor..."
She spoke slowly but with clear logic and ease, using professional terminology. Her perspectives were ingenious and novel, pointing directly to the core flaws of the current model.
Anderson and Chen Mingyuan listened more and more attentively. They looked at each other and saw surprise in each other's eyes.
This idea coincides with some of their ideas, but is more clever.
"Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!" Howard slammed his hand on the table and stood up. "This approach is totally feasible! Chen, quick! Add this parameter and re-simulate!"
Chen Mingyuan immediately asked his assistant to operate it.
Shi Heng looked at Gu Youran standing in front of the screen, her calm and confident look.
His Youbao is always so dazzling.
Anderson turned around and said sincerely, "Dr. Gu! This idea is invaluable! Join our research! With your participation, a breakthrough in this project is just around the corner!"
Gu Youran was a little surprised. Before she could reply, Shi Heng stepped forward and calmly pulled her away, "No."
"Why?" Anderson was stunned.
Shi Heng put his arm around Gu Youran's waist and said, "We're getting married soon, and she needs to rest and prepare for the wedding. I'm relieved to have you guys take care of the research."
Chen Mingyuan looked at Shi Heng protecting Gu Youran tightly, and remembered what he said before, "My wife's nerves are controlled", and his heart sank suddenly.
Shi Heng’s refusal was probably not just because of the wedding, right?
Gu Youran didn't think much of it, thinking that Shi Heng felt sorry for her tiredness, so she followed his words and said, "Yes, the wedding is quite busy. I'll ask the two seniors for advice when I have the chance."
“Dr. Gu,” Anderson said seriously, “if you change your mind, you’re always welcome to join. This project could change the history of neurology.”
Gu Youran smiled and nodded, but out of the corner of her eye she noticed Shi Heng's fingers were clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white.
After breakfast, Shi Heng pulled Gu Youran and walked quickly towards the elevator.
As soon as the elevator door closed, he pulled her against him and kissed her deeply.
"I missed you so much." He panted and lowered his head, resting his forehead against hers. "Why didn't you tell me in advance?"
Gu Youran smiled and poked his chest, "Is it still a surprise after I tell you?"
He kissed her eagerly and didn't let go until the elevator reached the underground garage.
"Let's go to the hotel and catch up on some sleep first." He ruffled her hair and said lovingly, "You have dark circles under your eyes."
Gu Youran looked up at him and said, "Your eyes are even redder."
Shi Heng smiled and pushed her into the car, then got in himself. He stretched out his long arms and held her in his arms, "With you by my side, I can sleep peacefully now."
Mark saw this scene in the rearview mirror and silently raised the partition to isolate a private space.
Gu Youran leaned on Shi Heng's shoulder, listening to his steady heartbeat, her eyelids gradually growing heavy.
The fatigue from rushing to catch the plane last night was just coming back to her. She yawned and said drowsily, "Heng, you should get some sleep too..."
Shi Heng lowered his head, gently placed a kiss on her forehead, and replied softly, "Okay, let's sleep together."
It was already eight o'clock in the morning when we arrived at the hotel.
Shi Heng carried the sleeping Gu Youran out of the car, walked into the presidential suite, and gently placed her on the big bed.
Just as he was about to leave to take a shower, she subconsciously grabbed his wrist and said in a soft voice, "Don't go..."
His heart softened, and he simply took off his coat and lay down beside her, pulling her into his arms.
Gu Youran found a familiar source of heat, curled up like a kitten, and her breathing gradually became steady.
Shi Heng smelled the scent of Platycodon grandiflorum in her hair, and his tense nerves finally relaxed completely. His last thought before closing his eyes was...
With her by my side, even dreams are sweet.
Shi Heng slept until two in the afternoon.
When I opened my eyes, I found Gu Youran leaning against the head of the bed reading a book.
"Awake?" Gu Youran put down the book. "Did you sleep well?"
Shi Heng stretched and pulled her into his arms, "Yeah, I had a good dream."
"What did you dream about?"
"I dreamed..." Shi Heng deliberately dragged out the tone, "you ran towards me in a wedding dress."
Gu Youran's ears felt hot, "Who wants to run towards you?"
"Then I can chase you." Shi Heng turned over and pressed her down. Just as he was about to kiss her, his stomach suddenly growled.
Gu Youran chuckled, "Mr. Shi, your stomach is protesting."
Shi Heng got up helplessly and said, "What do you want to eat? I know a good local restaurant nearby."
"I want to eat xiaolongbao!" Gu Youran jumped out of bed. "The kind with thin skin and big fillings that burst with juice when you bite into it."
"Okay, I'll take you to eat the most authentic Xiaolongbao."
Shi Heng picked up the phone and said, "I'll ask the driver..."
“No driver!”
Gu Youran snatched the phone away. "How about we take the subway? Just like a normal couple."
"Are you sure? It's a weekend afternoon, the subway will be crowded."
"It's more fun if we squeeze in!" Gu Youran excitedly started changing clothes. "Hurry up, I'm hungry!"
Half an hour later, the two were standing in a crowded subway station.
When the carriage door closed, Shi Heng instinctively protected her in front of him.
The inertia of the subway when it started made Shi Heng's body sway, and he immediately tightened his arms to steady the two of them.
This feeling of uncontrolled shaking made him frown slightly. Normally, when he sat in the stable Maybach, he wouldn't even spill a drop of coffee.
Gu Youran keenly sensed his discomfort and looked up at him. "First time taking the subway?"
"Obviously?"
Shi Heng lowered his head, with a hint of helpless smile in his voice.
He calmly adjusted his stance, trying to hide his discomfort.
Gu Youran tapped his stiff arm with her fingertips. "Relax, Mr. Shi. You look like you're here to inspect our work."
Shi Heng looked down at her cunning smile, and the corners of his tense mouth finally softened.
He imitated the couples around him, wrapping one arm around her waist and holding the armrest with the other, "Is that so?"
"Just barely passing."
Gu Youran suppressed a laugh, feeling his arm gradually relax, "Do you want me to teach you how to buy a subway card?"
“No need.”
Shi Heng took out his cell phone and shook it, "I downloaded the ride code." There was a hint of pride in his tone.
Gu Youran smiled and squeezed his palm. "Next time, I'll teach you how to take the bus."
Shi Heng frowned in a serious manner, "Please spare me?"
But when he walked out of the car, he glanced at the subway map on the wall and memorized it silently in his mind.
This way of traveling, which was the same as that of ordinary people, made him inexplicably look forward to it.
In the crowded carriage, she could only cling tightly to his arms, which made his heart beat faster than sitting in a luxury car.
After exiting the subway station and walking for another ten minutes, the two finally arrived at the old brand that Shi Heng mentioned.
"This is it." Shi Heng pointed at the sign, "Their crab meat dumplings are a must-try."
While waiting for the food, Gu Youran asked curiously, "How did you know this restaurant?"
