Chapter 3 Star’s Sunflower Dad.
Xingxing rejected Qiuqiu's proposal with silence.
The grandmother that Qiuqiu mentioned before was the one who discovered in the story that the child Zhou Chenxing was not his own when he was five years old.
Xingxing didn’t understand why humans didn’t recognize their own cubs, but he could feel that the real little Zhou Chenxing was a little resistant to the existence of that family.
Because in the plot, only grandma is looking for the real Zhou Chenxing.
Xingxing has a good memory. He remembers the name of the book that Qiuqiu mentioned: "The Whole Family Loved Me Even More After Finding Out I Was a Fake Young Master."
The stars actually don’t quite understand.
It only knows that in the end of the world, if another cub occupies its own cub's nest, the adult beast will bite the other cub to death without hesitation to provide a meal for its own cub.
Xingxing thought of himself again.
It seemed as if he had taken over the body of little Zhou Chenxing.
Call his dad dad.
The teacher said that the mission of the Space-Time Bureau comes from the obsessive souls in the small world. As long as the obsession in their souls does not dissipate, they will never be reincarnated.
Qiuqiu said that this was a fair and equal transaction, and it was also to maintain the stability of the small world. Otherwise, one day the small world would fall apart.
It was little Zhou Chenxing who chose the stars.
But Xingxing is not Zhou Chenxing after all.
Perhaps, this human father will soon discover that the stars are not his stars?
The sun has already set. The sunlight that had originally shone directly on the small vegetable stall, forcing Zhou Xiangyang, the vegetable seller, to always squint his eyes to look at people, has now disappeared, leaving only the street lamps that have lit up with it. In the sky that has not yet become dark, it looks like a long, bright river winding through the world.
Xingxing stood behind Zhou Xiangyang, holding a bottle of ice-cold mineral water, and watched him quietly as he loudly greeted passers-by and continued to promote the vegetables on his stall.
There weren't many vegetables on his stall. He started selling at 5pm, and it's now around 7:30pm. His voice is hoarse and he's sweating from the heat, but he's only sold about half of them.
More often than not, people passing by wouldn’t even linger on his vegetable stall for a second.
This is undoubtedly an extremely frustrating and patience-testing job.
But Xingxing did not see any irritability in Zhou Xiangyang. He always had a smile on his face and greeted everyone who might come to buy vegetables. He seemed to be a particularly outgoing and talkative man.
But when there are no customers, he will not communicate with the vendors around him, but will just concentrate on taking care of the vegetables on his own stall, picking out those that are of poor quality, and then pouring some cold water on them with a hole in a bottle to prevent the vegetables from wilting due to the hot weather.
He is very serious and focused in everything he does.
It seemed that only the appearance of stars would always distract him.
Just at this moment, a child came over holding a bottle of refrigerated mineral water. Zhou Xiangyang, who was originally busy greeting customers, immediately stopped shouting, half turned around, took the mineral water from his son's hand, held it between his knees to help him unscrew it, and after handing it to him, he supported the child's tender and fragile waist and back to prevent him from falling, and just watched the little guy drink the water slowly.
This set of movements was so smooth that Xingxing took two sips of the cold water from the bottle before she came back to her senses from her dazed and passive state.
So the child frowned and stopped what he was doing. In the face of Zhou Xiangyang's puzzled gaze, a pair of clear and clean eyes looked at him seriously, and his two little hands held the water bottle and handed it to him, indicating that he should drink water too.
Zhou Xiangyang was slightly stunned, and then he smiled even bigger and more surprised: "Is this the water you bought for me?"
He knew this little guy, and he was rarely willing to share things that truly belonged to the stars, unless they were not originally bought for him.
Xingxing nodded and continued to lift the bottle up.
"Dad, drink."
It was the middle of summer, and even though Zhou Xiangyang hadn't even drunk the water yet, he felt as comfortable and relaxed as if he had drunk a sip of ice water in the hottest days of summer.
Tsk, the little brat actually knows how to respect his father.
Zhou Xiangyang held the mineral water bottle again, first lowered his head to touch his son's forehead, and then raised his head to drink the water.
He did not put the bottle mouth into his mouth, but kept a certain distance from it. His Adam's apple protruded and rolled up and down as he swallowed.
"Xingxing, we have spiritual spring water." Qiuqiu squatted on Xingxing's head and looked at Zhou Xiangyang with him.
Xingxing nodded slightly, and after Zhou Xiangyang finished drinking, she took it and screwed the cap on herself.
It was much cooler now than before, so Zhou Xiangyang stroked his son's hair and said with a smile, "Xingxing, wait a little longer. Dad will sell most of the vegetables, then we'll go home."
This period of time happened to be the time when nearby residents came out for a walk. Zhou Xiangyang didn't have many vegetables today, so he estimated that he could sell them all before going home.
Xingxing sat down on the only small bench again, holding the half-empty bottle of mineral water in his arms, and continued to stare in a daze at the people coming and going.
Now his body belongs to a human being, and he no longer craves the taste of humans and wants to devour their flesh and blood like he did in the previous world, but his soul still belongs to the little zombie, so when he looks at the passers-by, he always feels a little itchy in his teeth.
Xingxing swallowed secretly and turned his gaze back to Zhou Xiangyang.
Zhou Xiangyang was actively greeting passers-by. After seeing that only a few dollars' worth of vegetables were left on the stall, he looked at the sky and breathed a sigh of relief.
From the beginning to the end, he never thought of asking Xingxing, who was sitting on a small stool, to help him shout, and he never even asked Xingxing to help him get a plastic bag.
Xingxing is not a truly sweet, sensible and well-behaved little cub. He is quiet and silent most of the time, so from beginning to end, he never thought about helping Zhou Xiangyang and showing how well-behaved and sensible he is.
When the last handful of vegetables on the stall were finally sold at a low price, Zhou Xiangyang turned around, hugged his son and gave him a big kiss, and said happily: "I'm going to save enough money for Xingxing's tuition. When autumn comes, Dad will send you to kindergarten!"
Xingxing raised her hand to cover the place where she was kissed. Her pupils reflected Zhou Xiangyang's bright and happy smile. After thinking about it, she also slightly curved her eyes.
In the past, Brother He Yang and Uncle Hu also regretted that they could not let themselves go to kindergarten.
When I left that world, my uncle told me a lot of things that normal children would do. The most important thing was that every child had to start from kindergarten and go to school for a very long time.
After I came into this world, my father sold vegetables to make money, and the first thing he thought of was to send me to kindergarten...
Finally, after arriving in a strange world, the little zombie Xingxing lightly drew a thin equate sign between the tall man in front of him and the uncle he once depended on.
This also means that Xingxing has finally begun to accept and recognize the existence of this father.
He won't replace his uncle, but perhaps he can become a new measure of kindness and love used by the stars.
When Xingxing was being carried back by her father, because the man holding her was tall enough, she could easily see the tops of many people's heads along the way while sitting in his arms.
Not only these humans, but also the bustling streets dotted with various lights and the lively atmosphere of fireworks everywhere. Xingxing has never seen such a peaceful and leisurely human world.
He still held the half bottle of mineral water in his arms. He picked it up curiously and observed this new and strange world through the swaying bottle.
Everything became bizarre, with mottled lights, twisted buildings, and noisy crowds...
And there was Zhou Xiangyang, who held him and kept him steady.
"Dad." The child looked at him through the water bottle.
Zhou Xiangyang stopped and lowered his head, also looking at him through the water bottle.
Both the big and the small saw each other's strange eyes.
Xingxing raised her head first, smiled at Zhou Xiangyang with curved eyes, and said softly, "Dad, my name is Xingxing."
It’s not Zhou Chenxing’s star, it’s Xingxing’s star.
Although Zhou Xiangyang didn't know why his son suddenly said this, he smiled and nodded: "Xingxing, I'm your father. My name is Zhou Xiangyang, which means Xiangyang who yearns for the sun."
He didn't come up with any particularly cultured words to describe his name.
Xingxing shook her head and seriously corrected him: "It's a sunflower."
Zhou Xiangyang: "Sunflower?"
"Um."
The child hugged the water bottle again, leaning his whole body into his arms, and walked with him, explaining slowly in a tender childish voice: "My father's name is Zhou Xiangyang, and I am the sunflower father who yearns for the sun."
Sunflower Dad.
What a wonderful and cute name.
Zhou Xiangyang repeated this to himself twice, and felt that his rough heart was melted by the little guy in his arms, and warm bubbles were popping out of his heart.
"Then I am the sunflower father, and what are stars?" He asked with a smile, weighing the child in his arms.
The child answered without hesitation: "I am the star hanging in the sky. Daddy yearns for the sun during the day, and the stars accompany you at night."
The stars are the stars that receive the wishes of children. If the children want to grow up well and take good care of their father, then the stars will carefully guard the sunflower father at night and will not let the bad guys bully him, nor will they let the plot and fate steal him away.
Zhou Xiangyang never thought there would be such a conversation, let alone that he would hear such an answer.
The heart, which was already aching and swollen, felt like it was hit hard by something mysterious. It was painful and astringent, as if it had lost something, but also as if it had not lost anything, but gained more instead.
He couldn't help but want to take a deep breath, but the rise and fall of his chest could hardly relieve the sour and suffocating feeling in his heart at this moment.
In the end, he chose to bury his head in his son's little arms.
"You little brat, did you secretly eat candy behind my back today?"
Otherwise, why is she so sweet-talking today, throwing nice words at me as if they were free.
Xingxing stretched out his arms and hugged the suddenly fragile human father. He could not understand the human's emotion and helplessness. He was just speaking the truth and did not expect that the human would suddenly bury his head in his arms and secretly shed tears.
He looks like a very powerful human...
The stars don’t understand, and they are helpless.
"Dad, it's getting dark. I want to go home for dinner."
The children could only learn to change the subject clumsily.
