Chapter 151: Ann Wants to Participate in the Competition

Upon hearing that it wasn’t Qin Haochen who answered the call, Shao Yongkang furrowed his brows.

"Is President Qin busy?"

He Yan replied briefly, "Yes."

"All right, here’s the situation. My mother and I have come to Bay Villa. It has been a long time since my mother last saw Old Madam Qin. She wishes to pay her a visit. I wonder if it’s convenient?"

Shao Yongkang inquired, his gaze shifting forward.

Qin Haochen was sitting at his desk, attending to official matters.

For him, work hours were strictly for work.

Except for his Ann, no personal matters should disturb him, as they would encroach upon his off-duty time.

At present, he wanted to finish work as quickly as possible, considering that his Ann was waiting for him at home.

Noticing the questioning look from He Yan, Qin Haochen furrowed his brows and waved his hand dismissively.

He Yan immediately nodded, slightly turning his body as he spoke to the person on the other end of the phone, "Apologies, President Shao, this is a private matter concerning Old Madam Qin. We have no authority to make decisions on her behalf."

"All right, understood."

Shao Yongkang had already anticipated that He Yan wouldn’t easily agree.

After a moment of contemplation, he asked again, "In that case, my mother and I have arrived at the entrance of Bay Villa. We can’t enter for the time being. Could you allow us to enter first and meet Old Madam Qin? If Old Madam Qin doesn’t wish to receive guests, we will leave immediately. Is that okay?"

This time, He Yan didn’t disturb the president.

"Apologies, President Shao." Bay Villa was not a tourist attraction where anyone could enter at will.

Shao Yongkang’s patience was almost exhausted, and his voice carried a hint of anger.

"He Yan, just tell me directly, what do we need to do to enter?"

"President Shao, I’m afraid you need to personally inquire about Old Madam Qin’s opinion," He Yan replied, and then added, "If there’s nothing else, President Shao, I need to attend to other matters."

Before Shao Yongkang could respond, He Yan ended the call.

Shao Yongkang closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths, and suppressed his anger.

This Qin Haochen was increasingly disregarding him!

After all, the Shao family and the Qin family had a long-standing relationship!

Seeing that her son remained silent, Old Madam Shao knew that he had encountered a setback with Qin Haochen.

"Is the Qin family intentionally targeting our Shao family?"

Had the Shao family done anything to offend the Qin family?

"Yongkang, did our corporation snatch a project from the Qin family?" she asked.

Although their corporation had benefited from the Qin family’s favors, Shao Yongkang didn’t appreciate some of Qin Haochen’s methods.

"Who can compete with Qin Haochen for what he sets his sights on?"

Old Madam Shao didn’t even consider her precious granddaughter.

She simply felt that the Shao family had become powerful, which made the Qin family envious.

Just as she finished speaking ill of others behind their backs, her phone rang, displaying the caller ID: Lan Jin.

Old Madam Shao was startled and glanced around to ensure the car windows were closed before heaving a sigh of relief.

She composed herself and answered the call, "Lan Jin, good afternoon."

"Good afternoon, Old Madam Shao. I saw that you called me. Is there something you need?" Lan Jin asked.

"I’m now at the entrance of Bay Villa, but the bodyguards are stopping me from entering to see you. Please inform your family’s bodyguards," Old Madam Shao said, glaring at the guards stationed at the entrance.

"Oh, why didn’t you mention it earlier?" Lan Jin replied nonchalantly.

"Old Madam Shao, please inform me in advance next time so that I can inform the family’s bodyguards."

"It’s all right, it’s not too late to say it now," Old Madam Shao urged.

"Hurry up, I’ve been waiting at the entrance for a long time."

"Old Madam Shao, we had a banquet last night, and the house is in a mess. We’re still tidying up," Lan Jin paused, "You really should have come to the banquet last night, but instead, you came today."

Upon hearing her mention last night’s banquet, Old Madam Shao instantly became angry.

"To be frank, Lan Jin, I came here precisely because of last night’s banquet."

"Well, you arrived too late. The banquet has already ended. Maybe next time," replied Lan Jin, no longer interested in further conversation.

"Oh, by the way, if you want to visit Bay Villa next time, you must inform me in advance. It’s quite audacious to suddenly show up at my doorstep. I have other matters to attend to, so let’s leave it at that."

With these few words, Lan Jin decisively ended the call without any hesitation.

"Hello? Hello!" Old Madam Shao gasped for breath, infuriated.

"The Qin family...They have gone too far! They have gone too far!"

As if a lump of air was stuck in her chest, her heart raced rapidly.

Old Madam Shao’s eyes rolled back, and she suddenly fainted.

"Mother, Mother!"

Shao Yongkang panicked, quickly instructing the driver, "Hurry, let’s go to the hospital!"

The Shao family’s car swiftly turned around at the entrance of Bay Villa and sped away.

Inside the villa.

Lan Jin had just finished watching cartoons with her beloved granddaughter and was thinking of finding some snacks to satisfy the little one’s appetite.

She then made her way to the dining room, taking the opportunity to return Old Madam Shao’s call.

Last night, the Shao family’s little princess was just kicked out of Bay Villa, and today she showed up without a word.

Wasn’t she trying to defend that little princess? What a joke!

They dared to bully her precious granddaughter and still had the audacity to come knocking at her door.

If it weren’t for her kindness towards the Shao family, she would have had their cars chased away by the bodyguards.

Lan Jin didn’t regard the Shao family highly and quickly selected some delicate snacks, personally carrying them to the living room.

Ann had finished watching several episodes of the cartoon and was now playing chess with her brothers.

Qin Huo stood up and took the tray from Lan Jin’s hands.

"Why do you still have to carry it? Little Jin, next time, let the bodyguards handle such matters."

"No, no, please sit and rest," Lan Jin declined his help, carrying the tray and sitting on the sofa next to her granddaughter.

She glanced at the chessboard in progress.

"Oh, it seems Ann is about to win again."

Qin Qianyi immediately spoke up, "Grandma, you don’t even know which side Ann is playing, do you?"

"No need to think, she must be playing for the winning side," Lan Jin replied confidently.

She had never seen anyone who could beat her granddaughter at chess.

Well, there was one person, her son Qin Haochen, but that was because her granddaughter intentionally let him win.

Lan Jin scooped up a bite-sized snack and fed it to her granddaughter.

"Here, Ann, have something delicious."

"Thank you, Grandma," Qin Sui’an opened her little mouth, happily devouring the treat.

After finishing, she couldn’t help but say, "Grandma is right, Ann is the red chess piece, so Ann will win."

Qin Fujia sat across from Ann, engaged in a game of chess with her.

He didn’t go easy on her, yet he still couldn’t beat his sister, at best only managing a draw.

After a couple more moves, the game came to an end.

Qin Huo examined the entire chessboard and felt proud of his granddaughter.

"Ann, you can participate in a competition with your ability."

Lan Jin fed another bite-sized snack to her granddaughter.

"Ann, would you like to participate in a competition?"

"A competition?" Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes.

"Grandma, if I win the competition, will there be money?"

She remembered her brothers playing golf and boxing in the afternoon, always mentioning "stake" during their competitions.

She didn’t know what chips were, but she saw her brothers exchanging money.

Seeing her bright eyes, Lan Jin smiled and nodded.

"Yes, if you win the competition, there will be medals, trophies, and even prize money. The prize money is indeed money."

Qin Sui’an immediately raised her little hand high.

"Ann wants to participate in the competition!"
