Chapter 171: Ann’s Father and Six Brothers Arrive

Lucy’s gaze fell upon the tightly closed, elongated, yellow beak of the big white goose.

She trembled with fear and said, "Old Madam, I..."

Old Madam Ye withdrew her gaze, not forcing her, so as not to accidentally harm Ann’s big white goose.

Ann seemed to cherish this seemingly doll-like big white goose, even wanting to hold it while it slept.

Old Madam Ye reached out her hands, first lifting Ann down from the car, then asked, "Ann, is it heavy? Let me hold it for you."

"It’s not heavy, the big white goose is very light."

Qin Sui’an shook his little head and said in a childish voice, "My brothers even praised Ann for being strong!"

Old Madam Ye selectively ignored the mention of other Qin family members by Ann.

In her eyes, apart from Ann, all the Qin family members were her enemies, as they were responsible for her daughter lying unconscious in the hospital room.

Old Madam Ye didn’t ask for help in holding the big white goose anymore, but she did carry the adorable piggy backpack for her.

The piggy backpack looked small, but it was surprisingly heavy.

Thinking about Ann being alone, carrying the backpack and holding the big white goose, leaving the Bay Villa, and walking such a long way, Old Madam Ye felt extremely distressed.

What on earth were the Qin family members doing?

They didn’t even know that Ann had run away from home!

A bunch of foolish Qin family members!

Lucy was the first to run over and press the elevator button.

She waited for Old Madam to enter with the young lady before stepping inside and pressing the top floor button.

Qin Sui’an blinked his round eyes and looked around the elevator.

There was nothing written inside the elevator.

In a regular hospital elevator, there would definitely be floor indicators, specifying which floor each department was located on.

Because this was the private exclusive elevator within the Ye family, outsiders couldn’t use it unless it was an emergency.

Old Madam Ye noticed her looking around, her round and bright eyes shining like black grapes, and asked, "Ann, what are you looking for?"

She asked, and Qin Sui’an curiously asked in response, "Grandmother, what kind of illness does one have to have to stay on the sixteenth floor?"

Lucy’s eyelids twitched as she carefully observed Old Madam Ye’s expression.

If someone else had asked this question, they would probably have been thrown out directly.

Old Madam Ye lowered her gaze slightly.

After a while, she patiently replied, "The sixteenth floor is our private hospital floor. There is no specific illness requirement. As long as someone from our family is sick, they can stay on the sixteenth floor."

It was the truth.

And so far, there had only been one patient on the sixteenth floor, Ye Chaosi.

Qin Sui’an listened attentively but didn’t hear the answer she wanted.

She felt a little disappointed but still wanted to know.

After hesitating for a few seconds, she asked softly, "Then what kind of illness does Mommy have?"

Old Madam Ye reached out and gently rubbed her little head, saying, "I don’t know either."

The words "vegetative state" were something Old Madam Ye couldn’t bring herself to say, and she had never wanted to admit it.

Her daughter was just tired, too tired, so she kept sleeping.

When her daughter had rested enough, she would wake up.

Ding dong...

The elevator arrived at the sixteenth floor.

The doors on both sides opened.

Lucy held down the door open button and waited for them to step out of the elevator before following behind them.

Smooth and white floor tiles, whitewashed walls, and bright white lights, everything that met the eye was either white or white.

The air was filled with a strong smell of alcohol disinfectant.

Old Madam Ye had already grown accustomed to the smell.

She looked at Ann and whispered to Lucy, "Go get a mask."

"Yes, Old Madam."

Lucy acted swiftly and soon brought a child-sized mask.

Old Madam Ye crouched down, her movements gentle, and helped Ann put on the mask.

Meeting her puzzled gaze, Old Madam Ye explained softly, "There are many viruses in the hospital, and the smell is too strong. You’re a child, so you need to wear a mask."

"Okay!"

Qin Sui’an obediently nodded.

"Good girl."

Old Madam Ye’s lips curled up gently. After putting on the mask, they continued walking forward.

The silence permeated the entire floor, with only the faint sound of their footsteps echoing.

There were medical staff present, but they remained confined to the sole patient’s room or waited for instructions in the rest area.

Qin Sui’an’s small face was partially concealed by a mask, revealing only a pair of bright, round eyes.

As she surveyed her surroundings, she couldn’t help but lower her voice and murmured softly, "Will Mommy be scared living here?"

Lady Ye’s footsteps momentarily paused as she inquired, "Ann, why do you say that?"

"There’s no one else, only Mommy lives here."

Qin Sui’an pursed her lips and glanced at the pig-shaped backpack.

Suddenly, she had the urge to stay here and accompany her mother.

Inside the pig-shaped backpack, there were provisions to sustain her, ensuring she wouldn’t go hungry.

Old Madam Ye’s heart trembled.

She lowered her gaze and nodded gently, almost speaking to herself in a hushed voice, "Yes, only your mother lives here. She must... be scared."

Lucy walked behind them, unable to discern what Old Madam Ye had said.

However, Qin Sui’an, with her exceptional hearing, understood every word clearly.

Her eyes, initially hesitant, gradually grew resolute.

Mommy isn’t afraid! Ann will accompany Mommy!

Although she hadn’t seen her mother yet, she had already traversed half of the corridor and arrived at the entrance to Ye Chaosi’ ward.

Old Madam Ye visited every day, sometimes more than once, and was intimately familiar with the routine.

However, each time she opened the door to the ward, she had to close her eyes and prepare herself.

Taking a deep breath, she reached out her hand to grasp the doorknob when the sound of hurried footsteps emanated from the other end of the corridor.

It sounded urgent.

A nurse, dressed in a white uniform, swiftly ran towards them.

Having just received the news, she immediately sought out Old Madam Ye.

"Old Madam Ye," the nurse gasped for breath, but before she could utter a word, she caught the warning gaze from Old Madam Ye.

The nurse hesitated, lowered her head, and met a pair of round, innocent eyes.

Sensing that Old Madam Ye didn’t want the little one to hear anything, the nurse cautiously swallowed and moved behind Old Madam Ye, lowering her voice even further as she reported.

"Old Madam Ye, there’s a disturbance at the main entrance! It’s... the Qin family, the President Qin, and the six young masters from the Qin family."

Qin Sui’an didn’t intentionally eavesdrop on their conversation, but the surroundings were so quiet, so quiet, and her hearing was extraordinary.

She didn’t understand what "disturbance" meant, but she understood the rest of the nurse’s words.

Blinking her round eyes, she couldn’t contain her surprise, "Daddy is here? And my brothers are here too?"

Old Madam Ye cast a cold glance at the nurse, who was on the verge of tears.

Did she speak so loudly? Surely not!

Lucy timely interjected, "Old Madam Ye, I’ll go downstairs and check."

Old Madam Ye nodded gently, "Yes."

Qin Sui’an watched as Lucy hurried towards the elevator and disappeared inside.

"Grandma, is Sister going to pick up Daddy and my brothers to bring them upstairs?"
