Chapter 213: Little One’s Dilemma

Lucy walked briskly ahead, holding the elevator, waiting for them to enter before following. Qin Sui’an comfortably nestled in her second uncle’s arms, showing no signs of shyness or unfamiliarity. She looked at the silhouette of her second uncle reflected on the elevator wall and curiously asked, "Second Uncle, don’t you need to wear your hat and mask anymore?"

"No need." Normally, Ye Liyuan wouldn’t take off his hat and mask before entering the Ye family’s private elevator. But this time, because he wanted little one to see his face clearly, and to familiarize her with him, he didn’t put his hat and mask back on after taking them off in the car.

Qin Sui’an asked puzzledly, "Why does Second Uncle need to wear a hat and mask?" Her brothers and her third uncle had never worn hats and masks. Unlike her second uncle, who seemed to not want people to see what he looked like.

Ye Liyuan pondered for a moment and patiently replied, "I am a public figure. It would be troublesome if I were recognized by people." "Oh~~" Qin Sui’an drew out the last syllable, not understanding what "public figure" meant, but she understood the latter part of the sentence.

When the elevator reached the top floor, it opened with a ding. Lucy had already sent a message to Old Madam Ye in advance, so she knew they had arrived and was waiting for them by the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors opened, Old Madam Ye carefully looked at little one in Ye Liyuan’s arms to make sure she was unharmed before shifting her gaze to the man holding her.

Old Madam Ye had been living day by day, and it suddenly occurred to her that she hadn’t seen her second son, Ye Liyuan, for a long time. She looked him up and down, then furrowed her eyebrows lightly. "Is the budget for your film crew insufficient? Why have you lost so much weight?" Ye Liyuan stepped out of the elevator with little one in his arms, pursed his lips, and explained, "Mom, it’s because of the roles I’m playing in the movie. I deliberately dieted for them."

Old Madam Ye furrowed her brows even tighter, expressing her disdain, "Don’t take on such roles next time." Ye Liyuan smiled but didn’t promise anything. Seeing that little one seemed to be getting along well with him, Old Madam Ye initially wanted to take her from him, but after a moment’s hesitation, she dismissed the idea so they could spend more time together.

She walked ahead, occasionally glancing back at them. Back in the hospital room, Ye Liyuan put little one on the sofa, rubbed her head with his palm twice, then turned and entered the room to check on his sister, Ye Zhaosi, who was still unconscious.

Old Madam Ye sat down on the sofa beside little one. "Ann, how is your second uncle treating you?" She was worried that her second son’s occasional coldness might make little one overthink things, given her sensitive nature.

"Very good~ Second Uncle even helped Ann with the milk bottle~" Qin Sui’an’s round eyes curved as she leaned back against the sofa, her voice soft and milky. "Second Uncle knew that Ann hadn’t seen him before, so he deliberately didn’t wear his hat and mask to let Ann get a good look~"

Old Madam Ye smiled and gently tapped her little nose with her fingertip. "That’s good." Qin Sui’an’s gaze wandered around the table, but the piles of documents were nowhere to be seen. "Has Grandma finished her work?"

"Yes, I have." Old Madam Ye took advantage of the time little one was away to quickly finish her work, so as not to let work interfere with her time with little one. After spending a few minutes in the room, Ye Liyuan returned to the living room and asked, "Mom, is Zhaosi’s condition still the same?"

Old Madam Ye glanced at little one, not trying to avoid her. "Yes, still the same." Ye Liyuan remained composed, but complex emotions flickered in his eyes. Sitting on the sofa, when he turned to look at little one, a faint smile naturally appeared on his face. "Ann, are you going to eat here tonight?" It was about time for dinner, but Qin Sui’an wasn’t hungry after drinking a bottle of milk just now.

Upon hearing her uncle’s question, Qin Sui’an tilted her little face upwards, looking at her grandmother with round eyes. Old Madam Ye smiled as if she knew what Qin Sui’an was thinking and brought it up proactively, "Why don’t you stay for dinner first and then go back? Or do you want to stay here for the night and go back tomorrow?"

Qin Sui’an was conflicted and needed some time to think it over. She wanted to sleep with her mom but also wanted to see her dad. Before she could make up her mind, hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor outside the ward. She blinked her round eyes gently and looked towards the door. "Third Uncle is here~"

No sooner had she finished speaking than the door of the ward was opened. Ye Rongyuan entered and, seeing little one still there, breathed a sigh of relief, patting his chest in relief. "Oh, I thought I was late, and Ann had already left!" Ye Liyuan glanced at the newcomer, then looked at little one again. "How did Ann know it was your third uncle who came?" Surprise flashed in his usually calm expression.

Qin Sui’an’s eyes curved into a smile. "Hehe~ I heard Third Uncle’s footsteps!" Old Madam Ye reached out and rubbed her little head, praising, "Ann has sharp ears. She can tell whose footsteps they are just by listening." "Impressive," Ye Liyuan still looked surprised.

Feeling ignored, Ye Rongyuan said, "Hey, second brother, it’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, right? You just give me a glance and that’s it?" Ye Liyuan turned his head to look at him again.

Well, now he’s looked twice. Ye Rongyuan pursed his lips and sat on the sofa on the other side of little one. "You just called me to pick you up on the phone."

"I didn’t ask." Ye Liyuan corrected him, "And in the end, I didn’t ask you to come pick me up. Ann and Lucy went to pick me up." Ye Rongyuan glanced at little one in confusion. "Ann went too?"

Qin Sui’an nodded her head. "Yes~ Ann went with Miss Lucy to pick up Second Uncle~" Ye Rongyuan didn’t say anything, but there was a hint of sourness in his gaze towards his elder brother. Ann hadn’t even picked him up yet...

Seeing his expression, Old Madam Ye sighed helplessly. "Do you have to argue with your second brother over such a small matter?"

"I’m not arguing, I’m just feeling sour." Ye Rongyuan was very clear about his own feelings. Ye Liyuan raised his lips slightly and said lightly, "Consider it a punishment for not telling me about Ann."

"Who asked you to be too busy to hear anything outside the window, busier than me, a CEO."

Although they said such words to each other, neither of them blamed the other. Ye Rongyuan looked up and down at his elder brother. "Second brother, is your film crew really so poor? Is there no one investing? Do you need me to use my private property to invest?" Old Madam Ye chuckled. Her third son seemed to be on the same wavelength as her.
