Chapter 313: The Deal Fell Through

Qin Fujia’s words had undoubtedly ignited Dong Zhenhong’s fury.

Dong Zhenhong’s face twitched with anger as he glared fiercely, "Qin Fujia, it seems you’ve been a monk for too long, forgetting even the most basic rules of respecting the elderly and caring for the young."

Qin Fujia’s expression remained unchanged, "You’re only fifty-five this year, still young."

If someone were to pass away at fifty-five and people commented on their untimely death, it would indeed be considered "young."

Dong Zhenhong didn’t catch the underlying implication in Qin Fujia’s words but understood that it wasn’t a compliment.

He slammed his hand on the table with force, "Qin Fujia, I’m giving you one last chance! Will you cooperate with me or not?"

"I believe I’ve made myself very clear," Qin Fujia said, his eyelids barely lifting as he met Dong Zhenhong’s gaze. "If there’s nothing else, you can leave."

The dismissal was blunt and showed no regard for courtesy. Dong Zhenhong’s expression turned ferocious in an instant. "Qin Fujia, do you believe I can demolish this temple?"

"Money is but an external matter; if you want to demolish it, feel free," Qin Fujia replied indifferently. "But in a society governed by law, you’ll end up compensating for the damages, which would be counterproductive."

"Ha, you’re talking about a law-governed society?" Dong Zhenhong sneered coldly. "Have you forgotten what you did in the past? Do you think being a monk wipes the slate clean?"

Qin Fujia ignored him. "Boyce has new movements tonight. Are you sure you want to waste time here?"

"Tonight?" Dong Zhenhong’s face changed abruptly. "How do you know?"

He hadn’t received the news himself yet! Qin Fujia knew before he did?

Was it possible that Boyce was secretly in contact with Qin Fujia?

Dong Zhenhong stared at Qin Fujia with suspicion, but he couldn’t read him.

"I’ve said all I need to say." Qin Fujia stood up and slowly walked out of the meeting room. "Goodbye."

The two black-clad bodyguards at the door rushed into the meeting room as they saw Qin Fujia leaving, looking at Dong Zhenhong and asking, "Mr. Hong, should we teach him a lesson?"

They hadn’t clearly heard what Qin Fujia had said to Mr. Hong, but they had heard the angry shout and the sound of the table being slammed. It was clear that the negotiation had failed.

Dong Zhenhong, furious, grabbed the cup of tea he had poured for Qin Fujia earlier and threw it at the bodyguard who had asked the question.

He roared, "Teach a lesson? Do you need to teach me how to do my job?"

The tea was cold and had no heat left, but it splashed accurately onto the bodyguard’s face.

The bodyguard let the tea slide down his face, keeping his head lowered. "Sorry, Mr. Hong."

Still not satisfied, Dong Zhenhong threw the tea cup at the bodyguard’s forehead. "Get out!"

The bodyguard didn’t dodge and took the hit. "Yes! Mr. Hong."

Dong Zhenhong, with a face full of rage, cursed through gritted teeth, "Damn it, Qin Fujia! I see he’s already made contact with Boyce! He dares to play me like this?"

Well, this is going to be interesting!

He couldn’t believe that after spending most of his life in the game, he would lose to these young upstarts!

Whether it was Qin Fujia or Boyce, he would drag them down with him if he had to!

Dong Zhenhong’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. "Find out if Boyce is making any moves tonight."

"Yes, Mr. Hong!" Another black-clad bodyguard immediately responded.

Unable to sleep through the night and infuriated by Qin Fujia’s antics early in the morning, Dong Zhenhong vented his anger by smashing everything breakable in the meeting room before taking his people and leaving the temple.

The commotion in the meeting room was loud, and the other monks heard it. After Dong Zhenhong left, they hurried to find Qin Fujia.

After leaving the meeting room, Qin Fujia went to the scripture hall.

The monks approached him quietly and said softly, "Abbot, Dong Zhenhong smashed all the fragile items in the meeting room."

Qin Fujia’s expression remained calm, seemingly unsurprised by Dong Zhenhong’s actions. "Report it as a case of provocation and call the police."

The monk added, "He also scattered money all over the room."

"Is that enough compensation?" Qin Fujia asked.

"It should be enough," the monk replied. He had never seen so much money, and since the temple didn’t have many valuable items, Dong Zhenhong had only smashed inexpensive things.

Qin Fujia responded, "Then accept it. Save it for the temple’s future renovations."

"Understood, Abbot." The monk was about to leave when he noticed Qin Fujia putting away the scriptures and asked curiously, "Abbot, are you leaving?"

Normally, Qin Fujia would stay in the scripture hall until noon.

Qin Fujia nodded slightly and walked slowly out of the hall.

The monk was surprised, noting that recently, the abbot often left early. Today, he had just arrived and was leaving again so soon.

Suddenly remembering something, the monk hurried to catch up with him and asked, "Abbot, what if Dong Zhenhong returns?"

Such a figure as Dong Zhenhong was someone they, as mere monks, could not confront. He was clearly targeting their abbot.

Qin Fujia replied calmly, "He won’t come back."

The answer seemed to address the monk’s question but also hinted at something more.

The monk, hearing this, stopped and felt reassured. He clasped his hands in a gesture of respect and watched Qin Fujia leave.

After Dong Zhenhong and his people left, Qin Fujia exited the temple shortly afterward.

The bodyguard’s car hadn’t left yet. Upon receiving Qin Fujia’s message, it returned to the temple gate.

Qin Fujia got into the backseat and instructed, "Take me to Boyce’s residence."

The bodyguard nearly doubted his hearing. "Boyce? Young master Fujia, do you want to meet him?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Yes," Qin Fujia said, lightly rotating the Buddhist beads on his wrist. "He’s still in A City, isn’t he?"

The bodyguard hesitated for a few seconds. "I’ve heard he hasn’t left yet, but, young master Fujia, I’m not sure where Boyce lives."

In truth, the bodyguard probably knew where Boyce lived but wasn’t willing to risk taking Qin Fujia to him. If something went wrong, he couldn’t bear the consequences.

Qin Fujia glanced at him but didn’t press further. "Then take me back to Bay Villa."

"Understood, young master Fujia." The bodyguard sighed in relief, eager to comply, and quickly drove towards Bay Villa.

As they approached an intersection, a short distance from Bay Villa, Qin Fujia asked the car to stop.

He didn’t use the Qin family’s car anymore, letting the bodyguard leave on his own. Qin Fujia then hailed a taxi.
