Chapter 328: The Man

The white goose, sensing the curious and probing gazes from the people around, ignored them and waddled on its webbed feet, following Qin Fujia as he left the scripture hall.

Qin Fujia did not walk far, stopping in the open space in front of the hall. By now, the lively morning incense burning period had passed, and the temple was filled with lingering incense smoke with few visitors.

When the white goose saw him stop, it also halted, lifting its fluffy head and looking up at him with its small, bead-like eyes. "Gaa?"

Why had he stopped?

"Is your ’task’ today to stay close to me?" Qin Fujia asked, looking down at the white goose with a hint of curiosity.

After waking up, Qin Fujia had seen the white goose waiting at his room’s door—a rare occurrence. Although the white goose had previously accompanied him for morning chanting, it had never waited at his door beforehand.

The white goose blinked its small eyes. Since Little Ann’s big brother didn’t understand its goose language, it decided to remain silent.

Qin Fujia took its silence as an acknowledgment.

He pondered for a moment and then asked, "Is something going to happen to Ann?"

The white goose only exhibited unusual behavior when it involved something concerning Little Ann.

"Gaa." The white goose seemed surprised that Little Ann’s big brother was so perceptive. Despite not saying anything, he had guessed correctly.

Qin Fujia’s brow gradually furrowed, adding a touch of seriousness to his expression.

The white goose did not disturb his contemplation but instead circled around, examining the surroundings like a top leader inspecting the terrain.

At that moment, it suddenly sensed something, and its small eyes widened in alarm. The white goose flapped its wings and ran back to Qin Fujia, grabbing his pant leg with its beak, drawing his attention. "Gaa gaa!"

"What’s wrong?" Qin Fujia snapped out of his thoughts and looked down at it.

The white goose flapped its wings excitedly. "Gaa gaa!"

Unfortunately, Qin Fujia couldn’t understand what it was saying. "What does that mean?"

He looked around but didn’t notice anything unusual. Just as he was about to ask the white goose again, his phone vibrated.

The caller ID showed Qin Yanyi.

Qin Fujia glanced at the white goose before answering the call. On the other end, Qin Yanyi’s voice came through:

"Elder Brother, where are you right now? Ann says she wants to find you."

Qin Yanyi, squatting down, put the phone on speaker mode so that his sister Ann could also hear the call.

Qin Fujia was surprised and felt a surge of happiness. His voice involuntarily softened a bit, "I’m on the mountain. Is there an urgent matter for Ann to find me?"

Qin Yanyi wasn’t sure, so he looked at his sister Ann.

Qin Sui’an pouted and nodded her little head seriously, her small face very serious.

Qin Yanyi conveyed his sister’s thoughts, saying, "It’s an urgent matter."

"Alright, I’ll head home now," Qin Fujia said. As soon as he finished speaking, he noticed the white goose had stopped tugging at his pant leg.

A soft, small voice came through the phone, barely audible.

"Second Brother, is Big Brother busy?" Qin Sui’an gently tugged at her second brother’s sleeve, her round eyes blinking. "If Big Brother is busy, Ann can go find him. Ann isn’t busy."

Little Ann thought her words might not be heard.

Since Qin Yanyi had some free time today, he said to the person on the other end, "Elder Brother, shall I come with Ann to find you? Is that convenient?"

Knowing that Ann was sensitive and particularly concerned about causing trouble for others, Qin Fujia smiled silently, "That’s fine. Come on up. I’ll wait for you on the mountain."

"Okay, we’re on our way."

After ending the call, Qin Yanyi put away his phone and looked at his sister Ann. "We’re going to find Big Brother. He’s at the temple on the mountain."

"Okay~" Qin Sui’an nodded and followed her second brother.

Since he was with his sister, Qin Yanyi didn’t drive himself but had the bodyguard take them up the mountain.

Thinking that the temple’s food might be simple, Qin Yanyi brought some milk along to prevent his sister from getting hungry.

As they headed up the mountain, Qin Fujia was preparing to greet them.

The white goose, realizing that Little Ann was coming to find him, grew anxious. It paced around Qin Fujia, occasionally tugging at his pant leg, as if expressing its displeasure.

Qin Fujia glanced at it, "Aren’t you welcoming Ann to find me?"

"Gaa!" The white goose flapped its wings in frustration.

"Why?" Qin Fujia surveyed the surroundings.

The temple, while not as luxurious as Bay Villa, was still a good place for self-cultivation and was not too shabby to prevent Little Ann from visiting.

"Gaa gaa!"

Unable to communicate effectively with Qin Fujia, the white goose huffed in frustration and turned toward the temple entrance.

Qin Fujia frowned slightly, "Where are you going? There might be wild boars in the mountains."

The white goose briefly halted but continued determinedly.

Qin Fujia observed it. The mountain was not large, and there were many visitors, so wild animals were unlikely to be a concern.

Considering the positioning device in the white goose’s necklace and the Qin family’s contact information, Qin Fujia did not stop it.

The mountain path was the only route.

At that moment, the white goose strutted confidently along the path, its webbed feet moving quickly.

As it turned a corner, the white goose suddenly stopped, its small eyes alertly watching ahead.

It looked around, then carefully retreated into the trees on either side of the path, hiding behind a large tree.

Seconds later, a black sedan came around the bend from the front.

The black sedan moved slowly, as if not in a hurry.

In the driver’s seat, a man sat upright, his long hands gripping the steering wheel.

As if sensing something, he glanced at the rearview mirror and vaguely saw something dart behind the large tree.

His eyes showed a hint of wariness.

The black sedan abruptly pulled over.

The man opened the driver’s side door and stood tall by the car, his gaze fixed on the tree. "Who’s there?"

The white goose shivered its white body.

It felt that besides Little Ann and her family, other humans were dangerous, so it needed to hide.

Despite its careful concealment, it was still discovered!

The white goose cautiously peered out from behind the tree, glancing at the man.

In that moment, it froze.

This man was the same one it had seen before when it sensed Little Ann was in danger.
