Chapter 340: Heard It

Qin Niexun had absolutely no way to control himself from saying too much in his mind. As soon as he had a thought, Ann could hear it all clearly.

He felt a bit helpless. "There’s only occasionally some danger; most of the time, it’s not really dangerous."

But Qin Sui’an still had her little brows furrowed tightly.

She hesitated for a moment before quietly asking, "Fourth Brother, are you short on money?"

You only need to go to work if you don’t have money, especially for such a dangerous job.

Qin Niexun was stunned for a few seconds. This was the first time anyone had asked him if he was short on money.

Leaving aside the shares he held in Qin Corporation, which alone were enough to let an ordinary person live without worries for several lifetimes, he also had his Fifth Brother, Qin Yaoyu, nicknamed the "God of Wealth," managing some of his money and making investments.

The money his job brought him was practically only 0.1% of his total assets.

Clearly, he wasn’t lacking in money.

Qin Sui’an heard her Fourth Brother’s inner thoughts clearly and tilted her little head in confusion. "If Fourth Brother isn’t short on money, then why does he still do such a dangerous job?"

Qin Niexun couldn’t help but laugh. With Ann’s ability, at least he didn’t have to say again that he wasn’t short on money.

A smile tugged at his lips as he placed his palm on Ann’s head, gently stroking her hair. He softly replied, "This job doesn’t pay me much, but what I do allows others to go to work safely every day."

Qin Sui’an was a bit confused and honestly shook her little head. "Ann doesn’t understand."

"It’s like the bodyguards in our family," Qin Niexun patiently explained. "The bodyguards earn money from our family, but they need to protect our home to make sure we can all go to work safely. My job is similar to the bodyguards’—I protect those who need it, ensuring they can go to work without worries."

Qin Niexun humbly compared his job to that of their bodyguards. If his team members had heard this, they would have been shocked.

But in his view, his job was indeed quite similar to that of a bodyguard.

Qin Sui’an thought Fourth Brother’s explanation was great, her eyes brightening with admiration as she looked at him with sparkling eyes. "Fourth Brother is amazing! Fourth Brother is like a hero!"

And the bodyguard uncles too!

Qin Niexun rarely showed a bashful expression. "Well... just a little amazing."

Ann was praising him!

It made him happy.

Okay, more than just a little.

Qin Niexun couldn’t help but smile widely.

Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes, curving them into a smile.

Everyone likes to hear compliments, and Fourth Brother is no exception~

The little bit of unhappiness Qin Sui’an had felt earlier disappeared completely.

She now understood that Second Brother had used another excuse because he was worried she might get scared.

Seeing Ann’s mood gradually improve, Qin Niexun felt relieved. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Right on cue, Old Mrs. Qin and Old Mr. Qin returned to the living room, each carrying a plate of fruit and two glasses of juice.

Old Mrs. Qin glanced between her precious granddaughter and fourth grandson, a smile in her eyes. "Ann, let’s have some fruit."

"Okay~" Qin Sui’an’s eyes sparkled with eagerness as she waited to be fed.

Old Mr. Qin placed the plate of cut fruit closest to his granddaughter, then handed her a glass of juice. "Ann, here’s some orange juice."

"Thank you, Grandpa~" Qin Sui’an happily took the glass, sipping through the straw. The fresh, sweet taste of the orange juice filled her mouth, making her squint her eyes in delight.

Seeing Ann enjoy her drink so much, Qin Niexun was about to reach for the other glass of orange juice when he was stopped:

"This one is for your grandmother." Old Mr. Qin glanced at his arm. "There’s bone broth in the kitchen. You can have some later."

Qin Niexun immediately thought of the greasy soup. "Grandpa, I didn’t hurt my bones."

"Even so, you should drink some—it’s good for nutrition," although he didn’t really look like he was lacking in nutrition.

Qin Niexun didn’t have the right to refuse.

The juice was sweet and refreshing, perfect for quenching thirst, but Qin Sui’an restrained herself, drinking only half the glass.

Then, she raised the juice to her fourth brother’s mouth. "Fourth Brother, you can drink this~"

Pausing, as if worried he might refuse, she added, "Ann can’t finish it. Ann’s tummy is small."

Ann’s tummy was indeed small, but considering the glass’s size, she could easily finish it.

Qin Niexun felt a warmth in his heart, knowing that Ann had saved it for him. He chuckled softly and took the juice from her hand. "Thank you, Ann."

Seeing her granddaughter’s thoughtful gesture, Old Mrs. Qin couldn’t help but lean over and gently pinch her little cheek. "If your brother really wants to drink, we can have another glass of orange juice made. Ann doesn’t have to give it to him."

Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes and, in her sweet voice, said, "Grandma, Ann wants to eat fruit."

"Alright, let’s have some fruit then." Old Mrs. Qin smiled, indulging her by bringing the plate of fruit closer and handing her a fruit fork.

"Thank you, Grandma~" Qin Sui’an took the fork happily and started eating the fruit, which had all been cut into small bite-sized pieces, just right for her.

Qin Sui’an ate happily, swinging her little feet.

Old Mrs. Qin and Old Mr. Qin were utterly charmed by their granddaughter’s adorable appearance, gazing at her with loving eyes.

Qin Niexun, not wanting to disappoint his sister, quickly finished off the remaining juice she had left behind. The sweet aroma of the juice was refreshing on its own, and the fact that it was saved for him by his sister made it even sweeter.

Qin Niexun’s smile grew wider, and his eyes showed clear pleasure.

After finishing the fruit, Old Mrs. Qin took her granddaughter upstairs for an afternoon nap. Usually, it was Qin Haochen who would put Qin Sui’an to sleep before going back to his work, but today, the little one had gone to find her big brother Qin Fujia, resulting in a slightly delayed nap.

Qin Sui’an was having a rare nap in her own room. She changed into a new nightgown and settled into her princess bed. Old Mrs. Qin lay down beside her and noticed that her granddaughter seemed to hesitate about something. Gently, she asked, "Ann, is something wrong?"

Qin Sui’an bit her lip, pulling the blanket up to cover most of her face, leaving only her round eyes visible. She shyly asked, "Grandma, can Ann make a call to Daddy?"

Old Mrs. Qin was amused by her shy reaction. She reached out and patted her granddaughter’s little head. "Of course, you can. I’ll go get your phone."

Saying this, Old Mrs. Qin went to the room of her eldest son to retrieve her granddaughter’s phone.

Qin Sui’an waited obediently in bed, her anticipation evident. As soon as she saw her grandmother holding the phone, her round eyes lit up with joy. "Thank you, Grandma~"

"You’re welcome," Old Mrs. Qin handed her the phone. "Here, call your daddy."

Qin Sui’an held the phone with both hands, looking slightly hesitant. "Will Daddy be busy?"

"If he’s really busy, he won’t be able to answer the call. But if he’s not busy, he will answer," Old Mrs. Qin encouraged. "You’ll find out once you call."

Qin Sui’an nodded slightly and then dialed her father for a video call.

Meanwhile.

In the top-floor conference room of Qin Corporation, the monthly departmental reporting meeting was in session.

Everyone present was a high-ranking executive of the corporation.

As the president of the corporation, Qin Haochen was seated in the prominent position on the side, listening indifferently to the reports from each executive.

He Yan, seated to his left, noticed one of the president’s phones vibrating. He immediately took it out.

Seeing the incoming call display, He Yan promptly handed the phone to the president, whispering, "President, Miss Ann is calling!"

Qin Haochen’s indifferent expression vanished instantly. He raised his hand to signal the reporting executive to stop.

The executive’s face went pale with fear. "P-President?"

Was there a problem with his report?

Qin Haochen had no time to address the executive’s concerns. He grabbed the phone from He Yan and pressed the answer button.

At the same time, He Yan reacted swiftly, standing up to speak for the president. "The meeting is adjourned. Everyone, please leave the conference room and take a break."

The other executives looked at each other, puzzled.

Adjourned? Take a break?

Hadn’t the meeting just started less than five minutes ago?

But Assistant He’s word was the president’s command. The executives quickly packed up their documents and quietly exited the conference room.

Within a minute, only Qin Haochen remained in the room.

He Yan was the last to leave, carefully closing the conference room door behind him and then standing guard outside, waiting for the president’s call with Miss Ann to end.

Qin Haochen pressed the answer button, and the phone screen flashed with the sight of his little one’s chubby, fair face.

He smiled warmly, his voice tinged with a hint of longing. "Ann."

Though it had only been a few hours since he last saw her in the morning when little one went to find her big brother and skipped lunch at home, it felt like they hadn’t seen each other in days.

"Daddy~" Qin Sui’an’s soft, little voice conveyed, "Ann misses Daddy. It’s been so long since I’ve seen Daddy."

Qin Haochen felt as though he had just eaten a sweet candy, his heart melting with joy. "Daddy misses Ann too."

Although they had only been apart for a few hours, his little one’s big brother and second brother had called him with updates about things.

Qin Haochen’s focus was solely on his little one, and he asked with concern, "Ann, your second brother said you were feeling dizzy. Are you feeling better now?"

"I’m not dizzy anymore, Daddy. Don’t worry," Qin Sui’an murmured. "There were just too many people and it was noisy, which made me dizzy. But now there aren’t many people and it’s quiet."

"That’s good," Qin Haochen said, though he had already decided to head home as soon as the call was over.
